I just picked up a new mic/headset for my PC and I'm excited to try it out. Games I'm planning to use it for are: Left 4 Dead Portal 2 Co-op Splinter Cell Co-op Maybe things like TF2 I was wondering if anyone could provide more games that get a LOT better through the use of a voice chat function.

I just finished up The Prague Cemetery last night. Overall i didn't like it as much as The Name of the Rose. The main character is such a perfect asshole that he's hard to identify with (except that he's a foodie, which I loved). The slog through the bigotry of every stripe was less rewarding than the slog through the beginning of TNotR, especially since the Prague-slog continued through the entire book. I'm thinking I might try Foucault's Pendulum as my next foray into Eco, since I remember being struck by the title some time earlier in my life the way Chris was struck by the name of The Name of the Rose.

I was listening to cassettes and doing side ops. I went back to Mother Base to do target missions and I started with R&D. It took me 5 or 6 tries but I got it. Then I moved on to the next one, got it first try. Then on to the command platform. I was running all over looking for the last few targets (very top of the main tower) and I fell down from a catwalk and died. It took me a couple more tries before I finished that one, then I pulled out the iDroid to see what was next. Guess what? No checkpoints between platforms. I get to do R&D again. FUCK EXACTLY THIS PART OF THE GAME. Overall lots of fun. D-Dog all day every day.

It was a fun hunt yesterday! Dropping down and helping low-rank players is fun because I can try weapons I'm not as comfortable with instead of just playing charge blade 100% of the time.
-
I'm interested in doing multiplayer too. I just made it to the second village. I've been rocking charge blade so far, and it's been a lot of fun, but i feel like it's going to be a pain for everyone else if i use it in MP, since it has a lot of sweeping combos.

I had an entertaining run today. It started off terribly because I had not idea what soy milk does. I made past the basement 2 boss (Gurglings) with a half heart left and not loving my chances, but the item room on Caves 1 was Libra, and the resulting combination was a ridiculously overpowered build that made the rest of the game trivial by comparison. I managed to catch the 2nd half of the run, including boss rush and mom's heart, thanks to the PS4 game DVR or whatever. This video was not really intended for public consumption, and starts with me struggling to get past some piles of poop.

speaking of unintentional save game loss: I've had a couple of times where I have been playing and my SD card decided to take a piss. Lost some minor progress but nothing like a basket full of beetles.

Shammack: I have access to the Green Blazer, I'll order you one.

I feel like I'm making pretty good headway in this game. I've got the flower shop, something is being built on Main St (this may be my Dream Suite, I paid it off today), and the nooklings are expanding. My house has a second floor and i'm getting a side room. I have an orchard with 3 of every fruit I've seen. (Still looking for apples, persimmons and cherries.) Everything I catch goes to the museum first and my collections are looking pretty good (except for art, that Foxy bastard keeps selling me fakes.)

Gotcha Juv3nal

Tom Nook always wants you under his thumb. Paid off your loan, eh? Looks like you could use an expansion!

Where the F are all the spiders? I haven't seen any. Also that's a hilarious pic of him standing over me in my bed.

i've only seen the villagers buy if you're in the store. They ask you if they should buy it or not.

I'm gonna hit the pool today but I'll leave my town open on the charger. If you want to come look at my extra fossils and fruit check out Re-tail. I don't know if you can win someone else's Bug-off but don't steal my thunder please. I'm also fairly proud of my shirt design for a bare, hairy chest. Check out the clothing shop. Otherwise have fun. I hope I have visiting thumbs.

Idle Book Club Episode 4: Evidence of Things Unseen
winknugget replied to Sean's topic in Idle Book Club Episodes
I have a lot of things about this book swirling in my brain at the moment, as I'm in the "euphoric, post-ending daze." I want to share a few while they're fresh. SPOILERS, etc. This book is beautiful. It's beautifully written and the high points fill your heart with hope and joy Glory which make the low points so much more of a punch in the gut. I love the poetic musings that move tangentially from the main plot for a moment just to let you bask in the inherent splendor of minutia. I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried on the last 2 pages of the Fishin' chapter, either. Any author that can involve you this emotionally in their characters deserves to be commended. That being said, it's not a particularly clever plot, or it's too clever to be believable. There is some super obvious foreshadowing with Fos's radiation deathtrap carnival sideshow. I thought we would at least find out he sterilized Opal and that was the reason they can't have a baby, but giving her leukemia was equally foreseeable The final chapter really shoehorns in too many references to earlier moments that we probably could have done without. I didn't need Mr Scrimshaw to show up or for Ramona to be painting in phosphorescent fish hearts at the moment Lightfoot meets her. Flash's character is compelling to listen to since he is the great philosopher and poet of the novel, but what he ends up being is a kind of soapbox for profundity that feels a bit forced. The setting of the book is almost a cheat for creating gravity. Spanning 2 world wars, the great depression, prohibition, the creation of the atomic bomb. This is one of the most densely packed eras of culturally defining moments in american history. What stands out among these huge moments in the book are often the small moments, though. The thing is, I don't mind. I was willing to suspend my disbelief when necessary because this is a really great read. I let myself be inundated with the beauty of the language and imagery and happily let the rest go, happily let my heart be broken. -
