It's old home week on Three Moves Ahead as the full panel assembles to talk about their favorite games and trends of 2012, and Tom Chick crashes the party to bury the hexagon, not to praise it.

Regarding the board game feel of X-Com, check out this interview with Jake Solomon from Firaxis where he says him and Sid Meier actually did design it as a board game before moving on to actual code:

Did anybody catch the fourth fantasy strategy title of 2012 which Tom Chick mentioned (in addition to Conquest of Elysim, Fallen Enchantress and Warlock)? It was one I had not heard of and would like to take a look at if I can track it down.

Eador: Genesis, it's available on GOG.

I fancied a fantasy strategy title so FYI the relevant links for downloads are:

http://www.desura.co...st-of-elysium-3 (Mac, Linux and PC - free demo avail, quite cheap (£6.99) but lo res)
Fallen Enchantress http://www.elemental...len-enchantress (full price, PC only)
Warlock http://www.warlockma...fthearcane.com/ - PC only, mid-price http://www.gameranki...cane/index.html for reviews
Eador Genesis http://www.gog.com/g...d/eador_genesis PC only $6 but there's a Steam greenlight for a 'reboot' http://steamcommunit...ls/?id=93959913
