Finished Deus Ex: Invisible War!!

Well, today, I made it through the estranged sequal to the "Game of the Year" Deus Ex.

I played through all four endings, and generally on the whole, I found the game a pleasurable experience.

I'm planning on doing a full review, to weigh up the pro's and con's.

But, IMO at least, I think the game was over criticised, and is actually not that bad, save for some TERRIBLE glitches, and bizarre physics *Cheap pop for Trep!! [idle Thumb Up!!]*

You can actually get hold of a copy of Invisible War for the PC, for only 9.99 now on Play.com, and I recomend you check it out, if you have at least a passing interest to the original, as the story does follow along from it.

So yeah, expect an Idle Review soon.

It won't be as good as the staffs though, hehe. :)

Glad you liked it. I kind of liked it too, but was also annoyed with a lot of things. A lot of that probably has to do with how it's all set up in the game and how the dialog is written. I'm currently playing Knights of the Old Republic, and even though it doesn't have the same kind of bandwidth for choices as Invisible War, it gets closer to achieving the feeling that Invisible War was probably going for. I can truly feel that freedom and make meaningful choices while still enjoying a tight and consistent experience. Invisible War was too drawn out and inconsequential for my tastes and the story never really grabbed me.

There was a story? No, really, I can hardly remember...

Two organisations fighting for world dominance and JC somewhere in an Arctic secret base also plotting something. And a young agent caught in the middle of it doing missions for both sides.

I don't remember that there was more to it. I guess they had done enough of the conspiracies in Deus Ex that it just didn't work any more.

Hmm... JC? Jesus Christ? WTF?

No, I too was sorely disappointed by the story. There are some side-stories that are a little more interesting, but other than that it was rather boring.

And yes, I don't think the initials JC were chosen at random.

Even though I bought this game (for $50! Damn you Ray!), I can't seem to get motivated to play it. I've maybe gotten through an hour. Part of the problem is that it's glitchy on my computer (although I've heard it's glitchy on every computer). The other part is that I'm a little bit tired of open-ended gameplay. You can be good, you can be bad, you can join these guys, you can join these girls. What was ever wrong with a good, tight linear story?

(I'll probably start playing it again here soon and love it.)
