Guest Posted September 6, 2004 Well, after playing the demo, some thoughts... I enjoyed the opening section, which leads into the game. I thought it provided an atmosphere not dissimilar from both the war at the beginning of Frontline and Allied Assault. The graphics, are very well done, and my first thought, whilst playing the game, was Far Cry. It appears that blades of grass will play a pivotal part in our FPS playing futures! I loved the idea of a medic, which you can call over for assistance. I thought this was quite a nifty feature. I also liked the ability of commanding my troops, which added an edge of realism to the game. It's also quite good fun, to help your team mates when they get themselves into dire straights. The sound, is also very good, especially if you have your surround speakers out. You can hear bombs going off in all directions, and it does really make you feel as if, you're in the middle of a war! Otherwise, however, it's a typical medal of honor title and a typical FPS game. I don't think this will stand out as anything stupendous, or ground breaking. It does have a few nice features, and I know it's difficult and wrong to gauge from a demo, but I can't see this game bringing much to the table, that I haven't seen over the last few months. The only FPS that really seems worth bothering with on PC is Half Life 2, as it does seem at least, to bring forward some new ideas, and try to make the experience slightly more different than everything else. Obviously DOOM 3 is now released and has stunned critics and fans alike, but I think Half Life 2 is gonna blow it outta the water! So yeah, Medal of Honor, Pacific Assault. Decent FPS, few new ideas. It's worth checking the demo out, if your CPU is maxed out, and you have surround sound.
