SometingStupid Posted June 5, 2011 Eventually decided to drop some money on a new computer, quite a nice rig but could do with a little RAM, only, I can't see a damn thing that it's supposed to put onto my screen. Tried it on my TV originally, but got an,"Out of Range." message, which I decided was down to the fact that I bought it off my mate and his TV was slightly better than mine, so the computer had probably adjusted to that. So now I have a monitor, and i'm having some trouble with that too. When it's turned on without any cable in, I get a green on the power light and a no signal cable message, that's understandable. But as soon as I put a vga cable into it (the only one it has a port for) it switches into power saving mode, even if the computer isn't turned on. Any help that you thumbs can give? I'm using an NVidia GeForce GTX 8800 as my graphics card, and an old LG L1511SE.
Patters Posted June 5, 2011 Try booting into safe mode, which should allow you to start in a valid resolution. If that doesn't help reseat the videocard.
SometingStupid Posted June 5, 2011 I've tried booting to safe mode (F8 right?) but there was no difference. I shall try a reseat now, but if I die from electrocution I blame you
