TAKE URPARTY2THE NEXT LVL (DJ Hero)

Recommended Posts

DJ Hero comes out today and yeah, I'm getting it. I thought I wouldn't be affected by this years fall release madness but today I've got DJ Hero being delivered, Torchlight unlocking and the LFD2 demo also. Welp.

Anyway, this guy has found a way to recoup his $120 investment in his newest plastic instrument. (taken from SA DJ Hero thread)

Wow. This guy has nailed it. I would gladly pay twice that to watch a dude play a video game in my home. Seriously. No, really, I would.

Utterly, utterly bizarre. I hope you enjoy DJ Hero. I must confess, I have little to no interest in that game, though that's in no small part due to the fact that I'm a bit worn out from rhythm games in general.

Maybe if you're nice you'll get to play, too?

See, if the guy could bring that idea into how the event works, he could have something going. He'd have to be good at managing a party though; nobody wants to injure themselves trying to dance to Daft Punk being brutally cut up by someone inadvisedly taking on hard mode.

Trip report, in the words of Nick Breedon, "This is a good game."

After playing Torchlight for 3 hours I thought I'd have a quick go on this before I went to bed. Which was 3 hours later. The plastic toy is actually really nice, the platter moves just like a real turntable when the record is spinning, just the right amount of resistance to pulling the record back. Nicely made, feels very solid. I was pretty surprised.

It takes a bit of getting used to, the first time you get a bunch of scratches to do I totally kept screwing them up. A couple of songs later I was nailing them and they felt very natural and fun. I got better pretty quickly, I think I needed an hour before I got into that groove where I knew the language of the game and could take on the challenge. Thats different than guitar hero which always had that pick up and play thing going for it.

The music is really great and the little tricks, flips, scratches and button presses they make you do do a good job of making you feel a part of the song and at times like a complete badass.

Two amazing new games in one night!

That's cool man. I'm still not particularly interested in the game, but that's just because the concept doesn't appeal to me to begin with.

It's good to hear the execution is so good, though.
