toblix Posted August 13, 2009 I don't know if this is the right forum, but it's game peripheral related, so... During our weekly GTA sessions I have a problem hearing what is being said in my headset, so I have to turn the game sound (on the speakers) way down, and even then I often miss what's being said. This happens with all the headsets I've tried (all of the same, wired, kind), so it's not a fault or anything. Has anyone tried any non-Microsoft headsets? What did you think? toblix Posted August 13, 2009 Yeah, although I went a while with it on like 75%. Turning it on helped slightly, but it's still, uh, non-loud. I've long suspected I have a hearing problem, so it might be that. There should be a mini-amp you could plug between the controller and headset that boosted the sound. Ah well. Nevsky Posted August 13, 2009 I'd go with Patters, and check the settings in the preferences menu. [AGAIN!] I've not had problems with the headset volume yet, and I'm usually playing with the girlfriend sitting next to me, listening to music or playing Facebook Scrabble. Patters Posted August 13, 2009 I have heard good things about turtle beach, but they are expensive. Also the wireless headset is also apparently louder. The master volume in the party system does seem to be quieter than the in game chat however.
toblix Posted August 13, 2009 I have heard good things about turtle beach, but they are expensive. Thanks, I'll check these out. Ear Force sounds kind of dumb, but I'm willing to look past that if they're good.
brkl Posted August 14, 2009 I suppose it's drawing energy from the controller? That may be why it's not very loud.
toblix Posted August 14, 2009 Yeah, but they could just have increased the max volume of the little amplifier. I'd be able to live with having to change batteries a bit more often. It'd be minuscule compared to vibration and wireless communication anyway.
James Posted August 14, 2009 Voice chat has always been a bit quiet for me, on all systems, meaning I always have to turn the main game volume down a bit. Not loads, and I can generally hear people OK, but still. I, too, suspect that my hearing may be sub-optimal. Stupid music.
