DanJW Posted March 3, 2009 Anyone fancy attempting a co-op campaign on expert? I'd like to do Dead Air, I've only played that one a couple of times.
Wrestlevania Posted March 3, 2009 I've got a "new" (used) DirectX 9.0c-capable gfx-card waiting for me at home, so hopefully that'll let me play the game. It was an "unknown, untested fault" punt off fleaBay, however, so could be a turd. Worth a punt for the £2.75 I paid for it though...
Scrobbs Posted March 3, 2009 Wrestle, I might be upgrading my card in the next few days - if you're interested in my old one - it's a Radeon X1900XTX with 512Mb Ram, and an after-market cooler (Artic Cooler Accelero X1) that I fitted after owning it a week - for quietness rather than O/C, and has never been O/C'd. Wrestlevania Posted March 3, 2009 Sounds good, but is it AGP?
Wrestlevania Posted March 3, 2009 Heh, that's the rub at the moment: trying to find a Shader 3.0-capable AGP card is near impossible, hence my punt on fleaBay at the weekend.
DanJW Posted March 3, 2009 I'm having the same problem Wrestle. My X800 XT is barely coping with recent games. I actually have a new graphics card that someone kindly donated to me but I need to get a new motherbaord before I can use it
Wrestlevania Posted March 3, 2009 Argh, what a pain, Dan! On the brighter side: this £2.75 Nvidia 7800GS seems to be working a-OK!
Wrestlevania Posted March 5, 2009 ...so, in case that wasn't very clearly implied from my previous post [see above], I'm able to play L4D very nicely now. Playing with some other Thumbs some time would be ace.
toblix Posted March 5, 2009 Anyone want to set something up? Oh, we are talking PC L4D, yeah?
DanJW Posted March 5, 2009 yup, PC. Lets see, I can play a bit tomorrow (Friday) night, but not late because I have to travel to a wedding on Saturday. Sunday afternoon/evening is good though. Monday I'm going to see the Watchmen movie. I will also be on a bit tonight. I've been playing L4D most nights anyway (I just got invited into a L4D guild - weeee!) toblix Posted March 5, 2009 Funny, I always imagine guilds having fighters and wizards and shit like that. Or thieves.
DanJW Posted March 5, 2009 My mistake. They are, in fact, a clan.
Wrestlevania Posted March 5, 2009 I noticed your fancy new clan tags when I just opened Steam; congrats, Dan. Hopefully, I'll be available for some L4D tomorrow night as well. Not sure when I'll be online, but I'll try not to be too late and hopefully we can squeeze in a game or two.
Wrestlevania Posted March 6, 2009 Well, with the gracious assistance of the venerable DanJW and some of his new clan (very nice chap/ettes), I played my first ever online campaign last night. And thoroughly bloody good fun it was too; taking turns in scenario-based levels like this is superb fun, much more than I imagined. I didn't do too well, but testament to the game (and the clan) I still really enjoyed it. Cheers, Dan! Might be up for some more tonight still, too.
DanJW Posted March 6, 2009 Glad you had fun Wrestle. Feel free to join me if you ever see me in a game with a free slot. Well, we might have a quorate in the making here, in which case we can do a co-op campaign. If we happen to get more we can play versus. I'm really into the versus game now - it's a lot of fun (although I still think melee is spammable). But I still think the co-op game beats it for intensity and scariness. Oh, my steam ID is 5 Shilling, for anyone that wants in.
gdf Posted March 6, 2009 I too just played through my first co-op campaign with Wrestle, Dan and ysbreaker. Was pretty fucking sweet, thanks very much! First time I've played with Thumbs people as well Since I had both those cherries popped at once I'd definitely join another session in future.
Wrestlevania Posted March 7, 2009 Yep, really enjoyed our charge through the airport last night. Only the second time I've played, and the first time I've played the airport scenario: The way the airplane crashes when you first get out onto the strip in the final stage is fantastic. "It blew me away" -etc.
gdf Posted March 8, 2009 Thanks for the game again Dan, Paul (?) and Nick I think
Wrestlevania Posted March 9, 2009 Thanks for the game again Dan, Paul (?) and Nick I think That's right, Paul Vania... :\ As if team-killing me earlier in the week wasn't enough.
toblix Posted March 9, 2009 What's up with not announcing this shit? Are you too good to play with the rest of us, huh?
Wrestlevania Posted March 9, 2009 Damn fucking straight! Didn't want your PC to, you know, eat itself halfway through. You just can't rely on some people. On the other hand, how would people feel about a regular Thumbs L4D night on Sundays?
DanJW Posted March 9, 2009 I would feel a mixture of excitement and apprehension of getting my brains bitten off by a tank, 5 yards from the escape vehicle. It is a complex emotion. Let's do it.
