Salka Posted December 28, 2006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3430481.stm He has a vocabulary of 950 words, which he can use in correct context... he also understands past, present and future tenses (although sometimes makes his own up, such as 'flied' instead of 'flew'). He also uses his existing vocabulary to attempt to create words or phrases for things he doesn't already know the word for... such as calling aromatherapy oils "pretty smell medicine". And he has a sense of humour. How totally awesome. Dan says this story has been around for two or three years, but I hadn't read it before... needless to say, what a brilliant bird. Marek Posted December 28, 2006 Why are humans encouraging this? Next thing we know parrots are living in houses and stealing our jobs and more importantly stealing our women. Knowledge is power.
Nachimir Posted December 28, 2006 That's awesome. I've seen either this parrot or maybe one of a few African Greys every few years that have amazing verbal abilities. I also didn't realise they could live for so long, African Greys up to 50 years, Amazons up to 80.
