  1. It looks like this is the immersive sim (Deus Ex/System shock) thing Arcane has been working on, looking for a publisher for, not talking about and recruiting big names for, for years. There's very little info since it'll be in some magazine or whatever, but it's an exciting prospect that another of these things, if it's what I think it is, is getting made. This image contains things that I like. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/07/07/august-cover-revealed-dishonored.aspx
  2. DuckTales Remastered?! WOOHOO!

The 2D sprites on drab 3D backgrounds looks terrible.
  3. PL4YST4TION 4

You're barking up the wrong tree. Best D-pad: Shape isn't the real issue with d-pads. Which was why it was so stupid when Microsoft brought out that idiotic 'improved' 360 d-pad that just changed shape.

  5. Life

I just got my first permanent full-time job and it's significantly better than all the ones I've been turned down for over the last 6 months. Very chuffed!
  6. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

The other night I kept getting summoned by a guy who was co-operating with his invader. First time I was trying to occupy the invader and just block so he could backstab but the host just ran off and I eventually died (not a big deal as a phantom). Then it happened again and I saw them hanging out, the invader was using the dark hand humanity leech thing on the host so not sure what they were up to.

I know right! It's your usual slightly excruciating and bland reference to a video game concept (preferably NES or SMB-related)... but with a pun!
  8. New website!

Can't seem to find any cheat codes or tips.
  9. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Just killed two of the new bosses and found the needlessly, brilliantly elaborate PvP arena. So good!

I enjoy MBMBAM. Brian Crecente's credentials seem limited to having written embarrassing pageview bait for a gutter blog. Never heard of the others. Those trailers are hilarious.
  11. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

It was definitely far more reliable for me on PS3 at least. And yeah, the world is called Lordran... enough said. I'm at Anor Londo with the character I've settled on (strength/intel), hoping to get to the new content today.
  12. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I've done the early areas so many times now that I quite enjoy just cruising through them very selectively. Those bastard archers in Anor Londo never get any easier though, I usually just sit back and let suicidal phantoms tackle them. The PC version and the resolution hack seem to be going much smoother than expected. the only problem I have now is the number of failed summons. I suspect that an awful lot of people have badly configured NAT, since you hardly ever see this kind of P2P connectivity on PC and so it doesn't often come up. Very annoying.
  13. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Yeah I'm not convinced the res fix will be plain sailing throughout and it does look fine without. Unfortunately I'm not getting great performance with my 3ghz C2D and Nvidia 560Ti, all the badly optimised bits from the PS3 version are a little choppier and parry timing feels way off. That might just be the different controller.
  14. Tribes: Ascend

Yea the free to play aspect is putting me off as well as time goes on. I saved up for ages to buy doombringer mines with 75000xp, the whole time fighting the temptation to buy gold. It's not a feeling I want while playing games.
  15. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Preloading now! I'm looking forward to everyone starting from scratch, the undead berg should be a lot of fun tonight. Will be great seeing new secrets being discovered in the new parts as well. By the way for those unaware, the main point of controversey with this version is that the PC port is limited to running at the same sub-HD resolution of the console versions, stretched no matter what. They must have hard coded some postprocessing or UI or something that made it too difficult to uncouple the resolution. Pretty piss poor. It irritates me as somebody who works in publishing, an industry constantly struggling to justify its existence, that a lot of people are so quick to blame From Software for the quality of the port, when they are buying it from Namco. In my eyes, Namco holds complete responsibility for any known technical/quality issues in what they choose to publish. That's their job.
  16. Tribes: Ascend

I'm playing quite a lot but I'm getting a bit bored of never being killed in public games. There's usually about 4 half capable people in a match and everybody else is utterly hopeless. Needs real matchmaking badly. I'm not good at video games.

I generally aim to sneak in when zombies are out of the way, sometimes it's a long wait. You can also try just sprinting inside larger houses and hiding. Zombies can't run while inside buildings and if they suddenly can't see or hear you they often give up. Of course, you still need to escape afterwards.
  18. Is there an RSS feed for the new blog? Can only find the podcast feed.

I've been playing a little for a month or so and have yet to have any really good experiences, usually when I'm alone I just don't ever find a canteen or a gun. With a friend it's a bit better but generally just ends in a chaotic laggy scuffle with another group. What happened on the stream was a great stroke of luck. Probably the most dramatic event was when I watched some guys go into a fire station and for some reason zombies in the area went batshit and all ran in after them all of a sudden (no gunshots i don't think). After it all calmed down I went inside and heard flies in the tower, where I found 4 bodies where they'd had their last stand. Some ok guns and lots of supplies. I looted quickly, knowing they'd probably be back or tell friends, but as soon as I got to the bottom of the ladder again a guy came around the corner. I shot him immediately in the chest but he got me in the head I think and we both went down. I hope that when they revamp the inventory interface, they don't make it too slick. There's a lot of tension generated when you're trying to sort out loot in a game like this. Darkfall has a deliberately clunky item interface for this reason, when you get a kill and you're expecting trouble, you want to be bricking yourself as you desperately drag things into your bag while incredibly vulnerable. Sometimes you need to decide to just grab one thing and run for it.
  20. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

The flamelurker with shield only is my favourite.
  21. Team Fortress 2 Co-op! Mann vs. Machine

    Gripping stuff!
  22. Iron Brigade came out on PC! Is anyone interested in some IBM-compatible 4 player action tower defence from Double Fine and Microsoft? Feel free to add me on MSN GameZone for Windows Live! Box: RaffaChicken Also add J Allard: HiroProtagonist
  23. I guess I'll have to fight those steam robots as a halfling sky gypsy.
  24. Xbox Live: Threat or Menace?

I unsubscribed last year after hardly turning on my 360 in a year. I played massive amounts of Halo 2 and CoD4 when they were big, but the people I played with dwindled and I was able to afford a decent PC from 2008. The incentive to buy 360 games for the XBL features/friends is non existent for me now. XBLA games eventually come out on PC, I doubt there'll be many more XBLA only ones like Radiant Silvergun or Bangai-O. I've started buying multiplatform stuff on PS3 if PC isn't an option. I can play Dark Souls online without even thinking about whether I have a subscription or not. When I turn it on I'm not offended by the disgusting interface, it's actually pretty classy. There's the sense of wonder that you should always get when you turn on a console. Turning on the 360 is like wallpapering my living room with happy meal packaging. Jet Set Radio HD will be on PC whereas a couple of years ago it would probably have been XBLA only. We truly live in a golden age.
  25. Idle Thumbs Motorcycle Club

I have the remains of my hilarious stripped down Honda Super Cub (can't remember which model exactly, one of the less pretty ones) field bike in my Mum's garage. Sadly I've not been able to start it for a very long time. Will get a picture next time I'm there.
