The saxophone section from "Never Gonna Dance Again" by George Michael started in my head as I read this. My life is now ruined.

Boy am I interested in this. I really want to play it, like it and be good at it. But I really don't see that being the way it happens. Do you have any links to good guides, Orv? It really interests me but I'm almost certain I will flounder, get frustrated and bored and stop playing it pretty quickly.

What was the most Idle Thumbs thing to happen without Idle Thumbs?
Gwardinen replied to I_smell's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I believe that was a promotional thing for Homefront. I don't think it really worked out. -
If you want to convert your 360 saves to PC saves, it can be done. I've done it in preparation for the third game because I actually have a computer that can run it now.

I would be grateful for... well, really anywhere up to four of those. Is there any other way to get in?
-
Yeah, I forget exactly when it was but near the end of the game I just turned the difficulty down. I'd already had the combat experience of the game by that point, and just pretty much wanted to see the story come to a close.

Yeah I heard about this a while back and was interested, but it is a ways off as you say. From what I heard, this project has actually replaced the bank heist one they were working on, as for one reason or another it just wasn't coming together.

Has anyone read any Ken Macleod? I read his novel Learning the World and enjoyed it, but his bibliography is a bit difficult to figure out where to start on. I'm not sure whether to try one of his series or just pick a random other standalone novel of his to give a go. Any advice?

You say that, but it wouldn't be the first time. Ubisoft itself has been known to throw stuff back to the drawing board. They've actually been doing it recently with the Ghost Recon Future Soldier game - I've seen at least three discrete versions of that game with different design philosophies and it still isn't out. Although I think it does have a semi-close release date now so that one, at least, is probably somewhat nailed down now.

Happy birthday, admin dude. Thank you for keeping the lights on and making sure our pointless rambling isn't lost in a digital meltdown.

Yeah, what was that about? I suppose different people want different things out of any given franchise, but when I think "Mass Effect" the things that get me excited are the characters, the universe and lasting choices. I don't give a shit about going one on one with a sandworm, really. It's not heroic fantasy. Actually, shit... is Mass Effect heroic fantasy? I have a bad feeling that it might be.

I am impressed by your couch. I like things that are L-shaped.

Eesh. I was excited by the E3 trailer, but that one... I am way back down to "managing expectations".
-
That's not actually what I meant, though it might be an attitude others have. I just meant that his name made me think it might not simply be a hoax trailer as I had originally assumed.

I thought that Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter trailer was a joke until they threw in Tim Burton's name. Is that an actual film, then? Fucking bizarre.

Worse ways to die. Yeah, they're pretty funny. Sex in general has always seemed a little absurd to me. This has not necessarily been a popular opinion with girlfriends, however.

The Riddler stuff in general kind of annoyed me in Arkham City. There's way too much of it, and far too much of it is not interesting. I would have preferred just to have the riddles themselves and the more complex and unique trophy solutions. Make all the "this is just a random collectible" trophies and destruction of cameras and balloons non-essential. They can still be in the game, but I don't want to have to do them to get the Riddler side missions, which are actually somewhat entertaining. Also, yes, figuring out which riddle clue goes with which location is really clumsy.

Seconded. I've been keeping up with Southland more or less since it began and I still look forward to each episode. It's certainly not the Wire and doesn't try to be, but each episode is a bit of self-contained excellence.

You can use the existing hard drive with a non-slim console. With a slim it becomes a bit harder but you can use the existing hard drive with some screwdrivers and effort. Alternatively if you get a hard drive transfer cable you can pull stuff off the HDD and put it on a new 360. You can also do that if you can put your current HDD in someone else's 360 and use a USB stick, though obviously that may take longer depending on the size of the stick. Achievements and such you'll keep no matter what if you have an Xbox Live account, and have recently signed into Live (doesn't have to be a Gold account). If you only have a local profile, you'll need to take care to transfer that too.

I was thinking that while watching the video. Useful it may be, but it sure ain't stealthy. You're never sneaking up on anyone with that thing in tow.

Honestly I just have only the barest amount of affection for the genre at the moment. With the exception of the recent Mortal Kombat, I don't feel like it's given me anything novel for a long time. That exception isn't even a particularly strong one as the only thing that was genuinely novel about it was a decent story mode, which, while incredible for a fighting game, was only passable in terms of a game in general. In the absence of a tight group of friends who all really love fighting games, I just don't have a strong reason to put the effort into teaching myself to enjoy them. Even Guilty Gear mostly worked because I had one friend who adored it, and we played each other over and over again. Also, the character and sound designs in that game are fantastic. So yeah, I'm aware I'm being lazy and my judgement is face value, but the entire genre doesn't thrill me anymore and I really just dip into the games to see if they're going to give me something I haven't had before. SC5 didn't, so I'm probably moving on.

That was actually the very first thing I thought of, but I wonder if it's too late now. I wonder if the people have just moved on a little too much at this point. For one thing, both Nathan Fillion and Morena Baccarin are major characters in other TV shows now. Nice to dream, though.

On the games front, my first thought is Dungeon Keeper 3. I've hoped for it for years, and a recent game called Dungeons appeared that was clearly an homage to it but just made me unhappy because it failed to live up. I'm convinced it can still work.
