My excuse for what's wrong with you is being Texan, so it all ends up you crazy. Seriously, this place does things to you. Unspeakable, horrible things. Like cravings for banjo.
  2. Life

    Are you Texan by birth/raising?
  3. Books, books, books...

Ohhhh, must try those some time. I can honestly say Sherlock Holmes is probably my second or third favorite character ever.
  4. The threat of Big Dog

And people wonder why I keep casting furtive glances up in the sky while I'm outside. (It's actually a really funny story [for anyone not me] about childhood and baseball, but now I won't look crazy!)
  5. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

"Squids aren't technically animals" is a podcast bit, from IGN. I believe it was a review of that animal pinata game? E: Viva Pinata, that's the thing. Dur. I don't know how to do fancy keyboard symbols! Don't judge me!

I'm not excessively far away, and own a sledgehammer or four. And don't like Mustangs. . . I used to dress like this; (As much as I enjoy the man, he dresses the same damn way, though it's probably not his fault.) I now dress like the fellow on the right, because damnit, I'm an adult, and there is no team uniform for adulthood! So I know, perhaps inversely, what you feel like. That said, congrats on the promotion, you miserable web designer you. E: I just realized there is a team uniform for adulthood. It's a pitch black baseball cap with the word "Schaudenfreud" in hot pink across the front.
  7. The one where you've disassociated their voice with their appearance and it's weird to hear that voice come out of that body? All the time. (While watching that.)

  9. This is. . .surreal. I've listened to 51 at least three times, so to actually see the (a-)typical interaction between the 'cast' is. . .huh.
  10. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

The rest of it, however, is hilarious.
  11. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

I think my issue with her at this point is, it isn't news. . .yeah, I'm not a fan of the song, I've snarked at it, but. . .it's not news that the internet is making fun of someone. (As Squid pointed out, GMA isn't news, per say, but. . .christ.)
  12. Movie/TV recommendations

The trailer doesn't tell you anything! It's seriously good stuff. Edit: I just watched Muppets From Space and Dagon back to back. That's a really weird tonal shift and I fear there may be something wrong with me.

The Borgias. Jeremy Irons, Rodrigo Borgia. Ergo, Pope Alexander. (If you've played AC, yes, those Borgia.) Seems like a good way to pass the time until A Game of Thrones.
  14. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

It's quite possible to 'ghost' an entire area, it just means you have to stealth kill everyone without their friends seeing. Alternatively, a silenced pistol can be fired from stealth without auto-draining your cloak. (All other weapons completely drain your energy bar if fired when cloaked.) As for NPCs seeing you, you can walk up behind someone and take them out without issue, but there is a small, very miniscule visible distortion while moving under cloak (at least, that's my experience with MP.) I don't know if that's what NPCs actually see, or if they're 'tuned' to sense you at a certain distance in a say, 80 degree vision cone. I've been able to sneak right by them at certain angles, but never directly in front of them.
  15. That's a really poorly worded definition of scrabble. Thanks again, Wikipedia!
  16. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

I haven't finished singe-player so my thoughts my not be as well rounded as say, Purple, who has played it twice now. But! I like it. To start with, the tactical visor mode is only there if you want it. The voice in your head says "Recommend Tactical Assessment" and you can do it or not. It only ever takes control of you for two visor functions, right at the beginning. It doesn't bother me, because I don't use it. Someone (the RPS review, maybe?) described the areas as "arenas" which I think fits perfectly. You come into an area from the side, or above, or what have you, and it gives you time to cloak up, look about with the visor if you want, and plan what to do. Part of the reason I'm not through the game yet is that, at almost every stage, I've tried at least three different methods of getting through. I start with the outlandish, i.e. Rip a heavy machine gun from its tripod and walk in guns blazing, armor mode on. And then move on to more tactical, sensible approaches to a situation. I've never once felt that I absolutely needed to fight a battle in any of these areas (in fact, there's a significant portion of a level (it might be the entire level) that you can't fight and have to stealth through.) But whenever I want to fight, I can do what I want. I have never once been restricted to a specific approach, and the number of times that Stupid Idea #10293 worked is hilariously large. Is it as open and stupidly diverse as Crysis 1? No. But considering that I found Crysis 1 to be a steaming pile of horrible when it came to actually shooting men, that's fine with me. The exploration of Crysis 1 was fantastic (I spent a good half hour climbing a cliff face for a better view of 3 Korean soldiers) but the shooting made it much more enjoyable to simply slip past everyone like a bat in the night. Oh, and the multiplayer? Pretty damn fun, to Batman another player from a roof. I'd recommend it.

Huzzarah! Warehouse 13 gets a third season. This fills me with great joy.
  18. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

Aside from the shit-storm surrounding it, quite enjoying Crysis 2, both single and multi.
  19. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

We are no longer internet-friends, Patters. Wellllll, it and the above were sarcasm, but I just haven't really found anyone that dislikes the Eagles. I talk to the wrong people, it seems.
  20. Nostagia Gaming

Likely retired. He got a fair potion of the moolah off 1 and 2. Some millions.
  21. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I haven't linked this, because I've come to accept that you're all generally well adjusted in terms of musical taste. But a conversation had has made me doubt even this. Enjoy! bCklH9gQAAg
  22. Nostagia Gaming

So I've avoided posting here because my post boils down to "I have rose-tinted cornea when it comes to old games" but uh. . . I'm playing RCT1 again, suffice to say.

I would say you resemble Jamiroquai more than anything, but I have been known to have bad opinions in the field of "X person resembles said celebrity." (Virtual Insanity - Godzilla era Jamiroquai, mind you. I have no idea how he looks these days. [Jay Kay, I mean.])
  24. Books, books, books...

I just finished reading TNotW and TWMF in succession, just because, and I weep for the world that will not possess Book 3 for years.
