Only three-wide (or more) pieces of all tall cover will block LoS if you're in the middle under certain circumstances. It's usually not worth the trouble in SP, since it means that person has limited firing opportunities, and on the higher difficulties you always want as many shots on a target as you can get.

You can change their voices, and you totally should for Leif.

I could have sworn there was a thread for this. Still intrigued, though not optimistic.

EU vs US release dates is not mistreating customers. It's shit, yeah, but 99% of the time it can't be helped.

I'm playing the SP on Classic Ironman, and I'm burning through a rotating rookie slot like free wontons. Someone on SA put it really well, I think: This is the nicest looking roguelike ever made.

He beat it in four hours because he literally ran from mission start to objective, without fighting anyone but the objectives. I want to note that this is not a magical shadows stealth game, it's a cover stealth game, and if you're not in cover and just in shadows you're probably going to get spotted. Vertical LoS is also acceptable cover. At least until a guard stretches by arching his back and looks directly at the light fixture I'm perched on.

Which Paradox game is the easiest to learn?
Orv replied to baekgom84's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Victoria is the only Paradox game I can't grok. It's just too dull. I love EU3, CK2 (and 1) and Rome equally, I'm a little less of a fan of HoI but still play them. The thing I learned the fastest was probably EU3. Yes, I like Rome. I know that makes me a bad person. -
So I played my first multiplayer match. My lineup was a Muton Elite, two Sectoids, a Floater, a squaddie sniper with carapace armor and a laser sniper rifle and a squaddie assault with a laser rifle. Square on the 10K points. The guy brings ~8980 points. I don't see him for the first four turns, though I am admittedly playing it pretty safe. Then I finally catch a glimpse of him with the floater. It is, of course, a sniper with a plasma sniper rifle. And ghost armor. And what I assume was rookie rank (IE. He couldn't shoot with his rifle after moving.) Cue six more turns of me encircling and finishing him off, losing only the Floater in the process. I just wish I had brought the Berserker instead of the Elite so I could have punched his dumb corpse off the top of that boxcar.

I will note on this that the reasons for an enemy seeing you are wholly explainable, mechanically. I'm not sure what you're having problems with. Loving it so far, though I agree with the "HERE BE STEALTH, YOU HAVE THAT BLINK ABILITY YOU KNOW" aspect of things. Still opportunities to foul up badly though.

Which Paradox game is the easiest to learn?
Orv replied to baekgom84's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
EU3 and CK2 are tied for easiest to learn, but are entirely different kinds of games. If managing your income, trade and a somewhat abstract diplomatic system doesn't interested you, but you've mentioned that intrigue and characters do, hit up CK2. Has RDA really gone that to pot? -
That one I'm not sure on. Presuming that shooting only takes one action, I would think so. I can give you a definitive answer in four hours and twenty minutes.
-
Except you can shoot without moving? And yes, TUs were shit.
-
They release on Steam at the same time too.

Which I guess is my concern with the "It's not XCOM!" complaints. It removes all the terrible, unfun systems (TU, the worst inventory system since Tetris, inexplicable alien competency) and leaves all the random chance and strategic play.
-
I have to disagree with the statement that "XCOM goes the extra mile and is as hard as it appears to be". It's hard because it's hilariously bullshit and chance based, as anyone who has loaded a mission with a rocket launcher pointed at the door of the Skyranger will tell you.

Looper is... a movie. One which I would be willing to dissect at length once more people see it.
-
Considering how good at video games most game reviewers are and considering an early story making the rounds about how they had to dumb down Dishonored because people couldn't do things without being directly told to, I wouldn't be surprised if 4 hours is missing a large amount of stuff.
-
Huh. Well, replayability seems high.
-
No, he has great comedic timing period. Jake Solomon is fantastic. As for anyone still hung up about this game, there is something like 20 solid hours of gameplay footage out there now, in a mix of singleplayer and multiplayer. Judging this game based entirely on the demo, which was terrible and in no way representitive, is doing yourself a disservice.

I am exceedingly glad that Robert Carlyle got more work so quickly.

I use it exclusively on Panther Jeeps, the ones that spring suddenly from the undergrowth to attempt to make you a hood ornament.

That truck is DLC, yes. Also DLC is the wonderful exploding crossbow, which you should get pronto.

Tom Hall and Brenda Brathwaite kicking old school rpg
Orv replied to elmuerte's topic in Video Gaming
It does not hold up. Especially the whole, doesn't have an ending part. Or the being kind of shit to play part. -
While I appreciated that Stallone fought like Rambo, and Van Damme fought like Frank Dux and was literally named Villain, I appreciated almost nothing else about Expendables 2. What a horrendously generic movie.

To be fair, BGTutu is the single acceptable first-time mod because it makes the interface and engine less horrendous.
