  1. Minecraft

So the fact that this is emergent gameplay + Dwarf Fortress First Person basically made this a no-brainer. A friend has been trying to get me into it, but he couldn't provide anything to make me want to try it. You guys did. They've got a tiny little underground cave set up, with water and lava everywhere, that's pretty fun, but I wanted something moderately epic for my first day. I think I've succeeded in that effort. Miniature Moria from the top of the scaffolding during construction. From below the scaffolding After scaffolds are cleared and torches and pillars are set. The bottom of the some 200 stairs (pieces, that is. Levels is probably around a third that.) And the public entrance to MiniMoria (I have a bolthole back into our little cave system in the back) And finally, because it was such a pain, and I'm really proud of the ambiance of the place, a shot of the 'unseen' ceilings of Moria. I'm really proud of getting that immense feeling to it. I would have liked to do so to the horizontal as well, maybe tomorrow. This alone took 6 or 7 hours due to my noobishness.
  2. Oh. . .this thread exists. . . http://steamcommunity.com/id/orv
  3. Yeah. I've decided to start fresh, so I could do with a server and a home. Any ideas?
  4. Too far? I say nay.

  5. Thompson, I will share some long, meaty ***** with you whenever you're in Texas.
  6. The insufferable gaze of Thompson's avatar penetrates my soul. It's as though John Hurt, Jeremy Irons and Saul Rubinik are all judging me, and finding me wanting. That might be the admixture of incredibly greasy ***** and chocolate milk talking, but I'm pretty sure it's the avatar. (EDIT: Wait, delicious pig fat is censored? I've missed a trick somewhere. . .)
  7. Maaaaaybe. . . Idle Thumbs (The webzite wit dem articulars) to Idle Thumbs (Which happens to be a podcast, but isn't called such, "Let The Games Begin" through "Burnin' Down The Wolfman") to Idle Thumbs Podcast (Which is also a podcast, but contains "The Great Gatling-Gunsby" through "Day One Perch") The other explanations are either; A. Fuck Chris or B. Chris is crazy. Maybe both?
  8. I have to fess up. I cried during Mass Effect 2. Now, admittedly, Mass Effect 2 was in a cutscene and I was in another room having slammed my toe into a door frame while careening through the house (very, very low pain tolerance), but I was crying! And Mass Effect 2 was playing.
  9. Haha. I like those, they're classy. Hmmm, might have to look into eating more corn so I can make horrible, unnecessary jokes.
  10. We are all sappy, sappy motherlovers. Just shows how awesome this thing is. Gotta ask, Famous. What's with the technicolor unicorn family?
  11. Did any of you Thumbs 'staff' get to meet The Duo? (Krahulik/Holkins) Despite being a late comer to the meme factory, I've loved every minute of it, and it's a sad thing to see it go. Until the cyber-ape revolution of 2016, mind you.
  12. The threat of Big Dog

Well. . .great. Now that scene from The Clone Wars can become a reality. Thanks roboticists. You've doomed us all.
  13. He released it?! Finally! Damn Australian gaming magazines! Edits: And it's just as good, if not better (a feat I thought impossible) than Bronzemurder. Loves it.
  14. Well, it's good that you didn't start it, since I'm now back, so I can participate once more.
  15. Recently completed video games

I've just, for the first time, finished off Sam and Max Season 1. I am a horrendous person. On to 2 and 3. Also, Baldur's Gate 2 again.
  16. APB

I'm not going to go out of my way to defend APB here, even though I enjoy it well enough, but I'll point out two things. 1. Nice choice of "review" sites 2. Most MMO reviews are biased/poorly done. (Either the reviewer didn't play long enough, or experience enough of the content, or what have you.) That said, APB can get very repetitive, very quickly. If you don't mind that, because the gameplay appeals to you? Go for it.
  17. Depending on how fast people take their turns, I probably won't be around for at least one (possibly two) of mine. This Wednesday (21st) to the 8th of August, I'll be without Internet, so you can just skip me if I come up in that time-frame. Argh, godsdamned weddings.
  18. New Oddworld Games On The Way

Which were both console only things? Hold the phone?! Are you kidding me? Finally, my collection (of severed human torsos!) will be complete!
  19. New Oddworld Games On The Way

    . . .Yeeeeeeeesssssss.
  20. Cataclysm

So I found myself trying to mouse over mobs while watching the video. I need help. . .
  21. Who do you write like

James Joyce on three of my short stories. Vladimir Nabokov on another two. And Ursula LeGuin on the parts of my book I fed it. Which thrills me, because I love The Earthsea series.
  22. Recently completed video games

That's more or less what I meant. The entire thing is the worst sort of paperback tripe. The historical events sans the Animus nonsense? I'd love that.
  23. Recently completed video games

To be perfectly honest, the Assassin's Creed premise (Animus) makes the writer in me want to punch babies. With flaming train cars. (Yes, I'm the Hulk on weekends.) I don't really expect a whole lot from the 'story'. (Though to be even more honest, all I needed to read in reviews/previews was ". . .fistfight with the pope. . .goddess sends you a message" [or something like that] to completely destroy any and all interest in the story.)
  24. The threat of Big Dog

Two thoughts: 1. It continues to shoot the "horse" in the head because the impact from previous paintballs is moving it. Will a live ammo one continue to molest your twitching corpse with lead? 2. As it stands, Portal sentries are a moderate annoyance, relatively cute and fun to mess with. I'm not sure I'll feel that way when I walk down the street and it's after dark, and someone screwed up calibrating their home defense system. A loud voice will roar "I SEE YOU" and automated murderchuckers will turn the street into a cacophony of pain and death. It'll happen. You'll see, you'll all see!

Was it worth the extra couple hours?
