  1. Civilization 5

Presumably the latter, but possible the middle option if we have a low number of participants.
  2. Civilization 5

I'm up for it. I'm not sure how many others we have, but I know this. - I can't host with my comp. - I know how to extract autosaves, so I can instruct the host on how to do so in order that we may continue at a later date. (Not that hard to figure out, but don't want to lose the autosave.)
  3. Rainbow unicorn corn holders. Famous is just that awesome.
  4. Minecraft

    Please tell me there's a video somewhere. . .
  5. Minecraft

This is the kind of game that, were I still in grade school, I'd be doodling plans for in my notebook.
  6. Good Old GOG

You're thinking BG2. Well, partially. (His gear is much better in 2.)
  7. Down in the Zone (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.)

So I grabbed CoP, because, ya know, the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. didn't destroy all of my soul. I'll be back eventually with anecdotes and failure. Edit after 10 minutes of gameplay: Yeah, it already has me in its clutches. My first thought upon exiting the brush was "If I shoot these pigs, it might alert people in the area that shit be up." Godsdamn you GSC for making such a compelling series. Edit after an hour: Knuckles got himself shot in the face, ending my first mission for what's his face. The mob boss, essentially. Am I screwed in that line of work?
  8. BioShock Infinite

(I'm posting way too much on this thread.) Didn't notice that, nicely spotted. Hmmm, theories abound. Mind-control? Pesticides? Baba Yaga?
  9. Civilization 5

To answer a previous thread question: Yes, Bismark is the new Montezuma. All the way. Fuck Bismark. Edit: A little AAR I just gave to jennoa while on the topic of leader AI personality mid-game adjustment. So. Alexander and Bismark get into a bit of a border war (sans actual declaration) over on the left hand side of my continent, while I'm busy mopping up Remhakahaan (gods, Indo-Asian names!) on the right. Alexander goes "Hey, want to help me murder Bismark?" I've already had three seperate offers to this effect so far. Catherine, George and the Saudi Arabian fellow (Well don't I feel racist now) have already come to me saying "Please, kill this guy." So I check. Alexander can actually pull it off with my help, so I say "Yeah." This leads to, about 170 turns later, Alexander and Catherine being wiped out, Bismark down to two cities and me controlling most of the continent.(Mind you, I still haven't MET half the AI by this time.) So I go after Bismark's second to last city. He comes up with a plea for peace. I take him for everything he has. Sadly, he has a giant land mass on the other side of the map So he's nice to me for about another 100 turns, and then this gigantic fleet comes sailing into the coast and begins to destroy everything. In short, Bismark went; - Super expansion asshole. - Playing for time. - Wiping the floor with my remains. In a single game. So I'm fairly pleased with it.
  10. BioShock Infinite

As someone pointed out. . .er. . .Nappi, it's entirely possible that either; A. You are 'chaff' or a Non-American, or whatever epithet they use. or B. They are essentially Splicers that are slightly more in control of their minds, but they're still batshit. And unfortunately, it's probably the second. Everyone is infected, or summat and goes crazy at the slightest provocation. Thus killing the "not everyone will want to kill you" idea. I slowly sink into a pit of despair as to how they can pull that mechanic out of the fire.
  11. Milo

Finally this topic can go die in a fi-. . .oh.
  12. Civilization 5

I have no real opinions on the interface. Both of them work for me. (IV and V) Also, Squid. To the left of the three world managing buttons (Diplomacy and the other two), open the drop-down list and open Diplomatic Overview. Inside this window, up at top, click Global Politics.
  13. BioShock Infinite

Uuuuunnnnnfortunately, it's probably the world of Bioshock Infinite's Splicer Effect. Which makes me sad about the whole "Not everyone wants to kill you bit". The bit with the woman sweeping her house while it was blazing merrily away is, in general, a pretty potent image. But if they're just churning out Splicers 2.0 with some new gimmick. . .*Sigh*
  14. Civilization 5

Eeeeee, I know this one! It's one of the drop-down menus from the little scroll to the left of the three primary world checkers. I just. . .don't remember which one. As for times for play, I am up for whenever. I can work my paltry schedule into whatever I please.
  15. Game cover designs

Every piece of artistic direction in/on/related to Evil Genius is absolutely superb.
  16. BioShock Infinite

I'm going to, as those before me, go with it being her face. It somehow. . .lacks definition, giving it a very innocent/childish look which does not go with the, er. . . t9K9wiH2Lko Oh, and on the "Izzit rendered?" front, the gameplay footage and the trailer have distinct visual differences. Mind you, ones I can't use words for, but they look distinct to me. It is entirely possible that the engine is just that awesome, however, I think not. The ten minute bit is clearly a case of developer preview syndrome. They want you to see the right parts of their game for you to become interested. They want to play it so that it draws you perfectly in. Thus, it feels like utter tripe to anyone who actually plays video games.
  17. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

I went back a bit and couldn't find it, but I love this. I love to think, somewhere out there in mass market consumerism, there is a market exec who is internet savvy. Unfortunately, it's probably just a very coincidental parody. Still hilarious. AkMsSIjQXxo
  18. Good Old GOG

It has only had these problems since my last reformat, so I suspect it is something along the lines of; - Something I had to get after my reformat that I didn't need before or - The cosmos fucking with me because I play Baldur's Gate 2 far too much. It also does this with the Infinity Engine Ultimate Collection bit that I have used as backups, as my Infinity Engine games are some of the few I actually take care of the discs for. And of course, I have all the requisite patches for both games, etc. I use Tutu mod for the BG2 engine in BG1 idea, but since both games are experiencing the problem. . .I'unno. So I'm hoping GOG works its techno magic and allows everything to go smoothly. Edits: And because it's still not up, I bid this sequence of waking hours À bientôt. Further editations: So I've been playing BG since I woke up about two hours ago, and it makes me realize just how much of a wishy-washy fool I am about nostalgia. I've acted like I'm watching a favorite B-Movie the entire time, calling out warning to NPCs that most certainly cannot hear me. Oh, and the thing that struck me most. Remember when BG's cinematic was pretty high quality? Gods, I feel old today. Also, I'm playing a bard. Remember those? Excuse me, arthritis is acting up.
  19. Good Old GOG

I actually have one of these, as a matter of fact. It crashes 15 minutes into play, without fail. So I'm happy GOGs technomagi have gotten their hands on it. That said, I do not forgive them this bullshit. Even if one of the co-founders is French, he operates an internet business. He should have understood the reaction a stunt like this would get. They can still have my business, my glee and my nostalgia, but forgiveness is a time coming. (Albeit, Baldur's Gate goes a long way towards assuaging that.)
  20. Minecraft

You sure as hell don't have my axe. Iron be expensive, mang!
  21. Civilization 5

Thank you. I am the fail. So I guess I will add to my racial slight counter for the month and phrase this indelicately. After all the goobledegook that everyone speaks (which, mind you, is really interesting to listen to, due to a little trick my brain does), it's almost a culture shock to hit England/The United States for the first time and have English pass through your brain.
  22. BioShock Infinite

Considering, - The crazy racist fellow giving out guns situation and - The bar eventually turning against you That does now worry me, since you've brought it up. They touted it several times since the trailer, so I imagine there is a point somewhere in the game where it occurs but. . . Damnit Nappi, Infinite has just gone down an Awesome Level for me. Hrm. Things to ponder.
  23. Civilization 5

Fun Fact: I started one tile away from the settlers of Oslo. He never built a city with his settler. I captured his workers. End of the Ottoman Empire. Dubya tee eff? Edit: This also occurred for Kulya Lempore, or however that's spelled.
  24. BioShock Infinite

Several things; - I am so insanely happy for a talking 'me' in an RPG. You have no idea. - Companion characters/not everyone wants to immediately kill you? Please. - More involved telekinesis. Hell yes. - I have achieved my own CtT. I will not be able to run this game on my current hardware. I have to wonder what was going through Chris' head when Levine was talking about "more visceral gameplay". Then I have to wonder if he is immune to his own memes.
  25. . . .I rescind all previous comments and amend the prior one to; "Blah blah blah flying rubber deathtraps."
