  1. Wizaaaaaards!!

Maybe. Gary Oldman is in my Top 15 Actors list, so. . .yeah.
  2. General Video Game Deals Thread

@ Everyone who bought AoE3 I'll start up a MPN thread for it in a few days here. As I bought it fairly late in the day, I do not currently possess a key for it. That said, I hated base AoE3 when it came out (I'm a die-hard AoE2 and AoMX fan) so I'm not particularly versed in it. Edit: Oh, hey. I have a key now. I'll do that thread sometime tonight.
  3. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I quite enjoy DangerDoom, but I haven't pursued Doom on his own. Shall do.
  4. Bot quotes

    They're getting crafty.
  5. General Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, apparently it doesn't like one half of the UK but the other is fine?
  6. General Video Game Deals Thread

Age of Empires 3 for 10 cents or pence. I smell a Thumbs game? Only today, mind you.
  7. Wizaaaaaards!!

The simple fact that this directors pedigree is "Twilight" is enough to make me give this one the slip. I just like Gary Oldman as a wizard(priest).
  8. Wizaaaaaards!!

    Look-e what I found. PM8V3cHdSC4
  9. Desert Bus for Hope

They're currently on call with Jerry Holkins. Pretty awesome. I always love hearing how he thinks.
  10. Desert Bus for Hope

Hence the worst game ever made. (I watched the ten minute video of Penn (a la Penn & Teller) talking about the creation of the thing. It was interesting, but the end result is still. . .Desert Bus. . .)
  11. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

I lol'd. Repeatedly. And hard. I used to play CoD4 with a group of Texas/Alabama/Oklahoma (in that area of states) people, I was basically the only person on the TS2 that didn't sound like some horrible caricature. I also used to play WW2Online with a fellow with that kind of voice. They're actually some of the most enjoyable people to play games with (aside from perhaps English Counter-Strike players) and are usually a lot more intelligent than their voices imply. That said:
  12. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Not having written the thing (I wish I had, believe me) I can't say if it was intended to be humorous, but I'd imagine it wasn't. It struck me as more of a critique of the class/ideal of ruling. It's one of those things that, had he written it a couple hundred years earlier, it wouldn't have been published and he'd have been killed. I really enjoy the book regardless of what it's intended to be, as it has some interesting ideas that don't quite work if you like to live a long time as a monarch/dictator. (And don't have sufficient military power to enforce "YOU EAT WITH YOUR LEFT HAND OR EVERYONE DIES" [Which is about as crude an example of fascism as it gets ]) TL;DR - Not quite satire, still amusing because medieval rulers were dicks.
  13. Like I said, it's horribly dickish, and I do apologize. The fact however remains. Survival SP is all about finding the right place to hole up. If you hole up in the side of a hill, there's an excellent chance something that survives daylight (Creepers, Spiders) is going to be up there and jump on your face when you come out. It's really sort of circumstantial whether you survive your first ten nights or so. Back on topic: So survival seems to be the prevailing sentiment?
  14. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Yup. The tone isn't as heavily satirical as the context of his writing it is. But there's still a little, which shines through a lot better when you know the context.
  15. As dickish as this is: You're doing it wrong. Quite literally. You are doing it wrong. I'd be all for a build-weekend though.
  16. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

That's unfortunate. The Prince is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, I guess you could call them "old world books." By which I mean things the The Republic, The Odyssey that flavor of thing. But it is, as you said, very much satire, and taking it too seriously leads to people like Dan Brown existing. Edit: Heh. As for MP. . .
  17. The threat of Big Dog

    They're getting smarter.
  18. Call of Duty: Black Ops

. . .Hey look, it's the first mission of CoD: World at War. HUGELY IMPORTANT EDIT BECAUSE I AM A MORON: So I couldn't directly remember playing the Bad Company 2 campaign, and that looked vaguely similar to some stuff in WaW. Turns out I -have- played the BC2 campaign, and also happen to be retarded. Moving on.
  19. This. I'd love to see what sort of sprawling communal anti-zombie fortress the Thumbs could build together. Yeah, the super-awesome creative stuff is great and all, but we could do that with monsters, and then it would be even more awesome in my opinion. Having people guard the construction/come vaulting down from the upper levels of a work-site to battle monsters, etc.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched an interview with him at. . .DragonCon, I think? He was admittedly not full on dickosaurus, but he made a few comments that made him seem a bit stuck-up about The Dresden Files. Coincidentally, what do you mean when you say they "changed it" from the books? I still thoroughly enjoyed it, even if I thought that the actors for Murphy and Susan should have been switched around.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

So I enjoy The Dresden Files book series, even though Jim Butcher is kind of a dick. I decided to go ahead and blow through the ill-fated TV series in two days. I need more Terrence Mann in my life. Shame he's mostly a theatre actor. Post-IMDB-dive edit: . . .That was him! Need to find my Critters VHSes.
  22. Call of Duty: Black Ops

How do they keep getting in?! And why do they keep getting better at Engrish?
  23. Call of Duty: Black Ops

Amazing. However, I will point out it isn't a meme if it isn't used to death.
  24. Health is Notch's current target of fixing, so we might want to start considering what kind of server we want here. (Survival/Freebuild)
