This and QuakeCon are two things that bug me immensely about being a "Texan." I live in El Paso, which is as far west as it is possible to get and still be in Texas. By all rights, I should live in both New Mexico and Mexico itself. So I always hear things like "DragonCon!" "QuakeCon!" "Various interesting intellectual conferences!" And then up comes my driving issues, and it all just goes to pot. So maybe! But no promises.

Three things: 1. The agility of cats always astounds me. 2. That's very interesting behavior in that .gif "They've gone off the edge! 'Ave a look then!" 3. I've been doing this very heavy Cockney accent all day, and I can't stand to be in the same room with myself. Why haven't you English folks purged them yet?

I dunno. I was playing DEFCON with Thompson last night, and was reminded quite forcefully of how well a cut down art-style can work. Admittedly, I'm not sure it would work as well for Subversion (in fact, I would prefer graphics in the range of, say, Jagged Alliance?) but I do agree that things are a little muddled in the art department currently.

I watched the whole thing because damnit, it's interesting. If they can pull this off, even sans major graphics, I would be not only impressed, but thrilled. This looks like something I could chew on with my brain for a long, long time.

And then TP goes and makes me feel like a jerkhole. Yeah, I tend to generalize the younger peoples of this (Middle) Earth, but I tend to be right. At the very least, I don't run into many that spark any sort of non-dislike in me. (Possibly because I'm an asshole and people don't talk to me in the first place? ) But there are many, I'm sure, who do useful shit with their lives, I just don't meet them on a day to day basis. I'm more likely to meet "sk8er punks" or something of that sort.

Young people tend to have a great innate capacity to turn me into a crotchety old man instantaneously. Snoogle and Thompson seem to be some of the few that do not do this. Hurray, maybe all of our children won't be rubbish.

Lack of Clarkson, May and Hamster - :tdown::tdown: I might watch it on occasion for Foust, because he's essentially the Amercian Hammond, but otherwise it's not on my "must see weekly" list.
