Man. Ever time I turn on Tom Lehrer, I wonder if there's anything he can't turn into cynical comedy. Apparently not. Love some Tom Lehrer.

Merry Christmas folkses. My lewt comes out at: Clothes, lots of. Money, a fair bit (mostly in gift cards to Best Buy and Barnes and Nobles) Another fedora! And perhaps my favorite thing, a distinct lack of religion crazy relatives. Here's to more time with you Thumbs, I think I might be hooked.

They are quite spiffy. I'd be happy to offer up my labour du manual when this gets around to going. -
(So as not to flood the Life thread) I'd like to wish all of you miserable bastards a Merry Christmas. I ain't Ben Hurr long (oh gods, what have I done) but I've enjoyed it quite a bit and intend to keep doing so. Cheers Thumbs.

It's actually quite good stuff (save for Jude Law) and I'd recommend it to pretty much everyone here.

Arcanum: The game that kicked my butt and made me love it!
Orv replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Again, I think part of the reason we haven't (or it was only briefly mentioned) is that it isn't actual story-line co-op. It's a different story entirely. At least that's how it appeared when I last loaded it up. -
The Steam fix, which Patters gave to me earlier, simply serves to crash my game on launch. Probably because I'm running an AGP card.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (years late on this, I know.) Steampunk. Sci-fi. Film noir(-ish). Above all else: What the fuck did I just watch?

So because I'm not going to update my computer until it dies (which may be soon, who knows) I've decided to get das old skoolen with some war gaming and simulation. To that end I picked up, a while back, IL-2, Men of War and Hearts of Iron III. Thanks to the marvelous soul and wallet-sucking monstrosity that is holiday sales, I've picked up the Theatre of War Collection and Achtung Panzer: Kursk 1943 (though admittedly the later was from Direct2Drive.) I do believe my holidays will be filled with maniacal cackling and angry German tank commander impressions. (Also, because it's not bad looking and the metal is mildly hilarious:) (1:15 is where it gets Rammstein)

Vaguely! My missions usually end up with a face full of depth charge and a whole lot of sadness. And corpses.

I would be happy to play with the two of you if you have room for a third person-thing.

I really, really, really want to finally stop futzing about and buy RUSE, but I just know it's going to go on sale like the Silent Hunter games just did, so I want to wait. But I want it now. Nrrrrrrr.

Well then I don't see a problem with the idea. Just need to decide when/where/if/mobs. -

Kingz, the only problem I can think of is that carts might not carry momentum if they leave the track, thus not going anywhere once they hit the actual railway. I'm probably wrong about that, but it seems like a possibility considering how fiddly minecarts are. -
Oh man! I'm totally not dead of Norwegian anthrax and I have a totally bitchin' thumbs up drawing on my wall. Your card might arrive slightly after Christmas, toblix, as I couldn't decide what to do until last night, and it has consumed most of my morning.

Thank you for reminding me.

I can't necessarily disagree with you that those things are problems, but if I'm honest, my only real concern is the framerate. If they fix that, I don't really have any problems with it being a shitty console port. (Other than the bolomites. Arachnophobia and them don't get along.)

Yes we are, sorry about that, last couple of days were a bit hectic and I gave my gaming time to simulations. Game Name: Immortal Thumb Keyword: fucknick I've set the difficulty to normal for now and it's paused until everyone is in.

I too greatly enjoy a bit of Arcanery. If that co-op bit is for more than 2 people, count me in. (Though I seem to remember something about it being an entirely different story with the base game, so a mod might alleviate that.) The game itself had reviews along the lines of "fresh and innovative in ways, but sadly incomplete" or something, which I was quite disappointed by. -
Oxford is the worlds foremost zombie apocalypse theory center. Duh. So I have owned for a while now, a fedora, a pair each of very nice 40's & 50's style suits, and two pairs of loafers (which look a tad clownish, considering the size of my feet) with optional spats. A friend was kind enough to round out my 'style' with a very nice pocket watch, which she was sorely tempted to have carved in the style of Doctor Who. I am a big, fat dork. And I love it.

I tap two cards and cast MILD RESURRECTION: So I watched someone play through the entirety of Amnesia, though I admittedly wasn't paying full attention. I felt like I saw enough of the game to ruin it for me, and every time Amnesia goes on sale I go "But it seems like a really good game! But. . .horror games aren't really big on replay value!" So I haven't done anything about it yet. Then I see a video like this: (Thanks RPS) loSzpvq73FY That makes me think I should play it anyway, because I am easily psyched out when it comes to horror games. Am I being stupid?

I believe that puts us in for one more person.

Mildly off topic: Remember how all the 90s war machine focused games had horrible, generic metal soundtracks? Things like this? IhkNWrlDV94 Well, Commanche 4 doesn't. But it damn well will with my help. Gonna party like its. . .Cuba, I guess. I don't really know. It's astounding this stuff doesn't make me want to just plug my ears with knives. Ahhh, nostalgia, you vile daemon. Mildly on-topic: Stranger's Wrath is the broken. Patters and I are both on the receiving end of approx. 10 FPS at all times. *Sadpanda*

1. We should blow up boats sometime. 2. I would not recommend 5. Not even because of the DRM. Simply because it is broken as a dog that has had a turkey dropped on it. (I was considering getting 3 as well anyway, but possibly from a different source because apparently. . .SH on Steam isn't completely patched? Something?)
