  1. Neptune's pride

I am currently in a free game close to the end. I honestly have no chance of winning because the two largest players, I'm third currently, are allied together and are proceeding to destroy everyone left. I was blessed with an isolated starting position and have been able to use strategic choke points to my advantage. That ends today. An approaching enemy fleet is 4 hours and 40 minutes away. Without reinforcements I will lose that plug and the enemy can easily take the next few stars. I have an approaching backup fleet that is also 4 hours and 40 minutes away. I have no idea who will approach first, and no way to increase my fleets speed in time. I am so nervous. If it arrives first I can hold out, and take a large chunk of the enemy out. This will decided the entire fate of the game. It's 3am here, and i can't sleep a wink.
  2. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

I love the FUD this game generates. Trust everyone, trust no one.
  3. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

Indeed, I lost my chance to expand quickly and easily. I have a difficult fight for survival ahead of me.
  4. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

I haven't met anyone yet and I am already feeling constrained.
  5. No More Manuals: Desperate Struggle

I would imagine they will have a small legal warnings pamphlet that gets put in every game. As for in game documentation, I don't expect much.
  6. Sid Meier and the Game Design Challenge

I had a similar reaction.... I then realized I had no idea how to implement any sort of player restraint. So instead I would make a SHMUP where your ship is physically restrained by a chain and must collect power ups to break it by destroying enemy ships. yeah, that idea sucks

Wow, nice job. Tell me, how did you determine the values used?
  8. Books, books, books...

So i recently finished reading Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. I've always enjoyed his writing style, but the way he crafted the two stories in the book really drew me in.
  9. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

  10. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

I definitely still want in. You could also count my vote for a long game.

  12. New people: Read this, say hi.

Been listening to the podcast for awhile now, but I finally joined up to get in on the Neptune's Pride league..... So, yeah
  13. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

I can defiantly see myself waking up in a cold sweat agonizing over a move that won't bear fruit for three more hours. That's a good question on time zones, I suppose it is all based off the the server time, so while you jump from location to location the game marches on unperturbed.
  14. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

Sounds good to me. I'm all for going with a long game. I just started a short free game, and I am curious how the dynamics change with a longer play session.
  15. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

    I want in, absolutely!
  16. I feel a strong urge to start an Idle Thumbs Neptune's Pride game / league.
