It is for sure, it just stands out a lot more when you have an article about how a woman was harassed by being called a slut and a whore surrounded by clickbait ads full of sexy women covering their boobs with one arm.
-
While I really appreciate Cracked, of all places, putting out stuff like this I'm really having a hard time taking it as seriously as I should when the article is also surrounded by ads with almost nude women and links to articles about the hottest women of something something.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
SecretAsianMan replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I saw this tweeted by IGN -
He was on Chuck I think.

Well clearly one example that's not completely, 100% accurate disproves the entire theory. Unless that example discredits GG, then it's cherry picking. I don't necessarily mind the use of logic to examine a social issue, but the use of that logic only when it's convenient is just a disgrace.

I didn't read the comments but I couldn't help but notice the sponsored links that surrounded the article, including "Check out the 25 Hottest Daughters in Professional Sports" and "16 Stars Who Have Breast Implants and Don't Hide It!". One step forward and two steps back and all that.

I read these back to back. It's amazing the huge amount of contrast between them. The first is calm and coherent with reasonable thoughts and well considered statements. The second is nonsense from start to finish. One of the comments to the second article said "I appreciate a straightforward discussion of the story" which is basically the complete opposite of what the article actually is. I seriously don't understand how this world continues to function.

I try to go through so that he's facing backwards.

The ALL NEW Monday Night Multi-Thumbs RANDOMIZER

I also installed Bionic Commando, but it's doubtful I'll be around at the right time on Monday. -
The fact that they non-ironically and longingly say that gaming companies were once a "good ol' boys' club" tells me they missed the entire point.

Idle Thumbs 175: It's an Itchio

Oh I get the joke, but that doesn't necessarily disprove the notion that you're a madman. -

I'm tempted to explain the joke but that would kill it so I'm not going to. -

I can't decide if this is the best joke I've ever heard or the worst. -
I forgot they existed

I've mostly been thinking about it in terms of Zelda games. Like why are there rupees in pots and bushes? How did these convenient hookshot points appear right where I needed them? How come the monsters happen to be vulnerable to this item I found in the very dungeon they're protecting? I think the game could be designed either as a RTS/God game where you have to create the world and place things such that your inept hero will succeed, or as a first/third person stealth game where you have to manipulate the environment without the hero being aware of your actions.
-
It could probably become that if you were really bad at not being discovered. Or maybe if you wanted to troll the hero.

I finished all the currently available levels for Hitman GO. I played it over the course of a couple weeks in brief toilet sessions. It's really good. I love the board game aesthetic and the levels are pretty well designed. The different challenges for each level add some variety but aren't too difficult to figure out, even with just basic trial and error. I managed to get all the stamps because I enjoyed playing it so much. My only real gripe is I wish there was an option to turn on a step counter. There is one that can be seen when you open up the hints menu but it's an extra step that you have to take every time you restart a level. It's easily the best Hitman game I've ever played. Also the only one.

The ALL NEW Monday Night Multi-Thumbs RANDOMIZER
SecretAsianMan replied to Lu 's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Yeah that's definitely true and likely to happen. I'd say play it by ear for now and if there somehow ends up being enough NA people interested in a regular thing we add a second time. You can count me as one such person because I definitely can't make the current Monday schedule. -
I had a pair of dumb game ideas the other day. They're both stealth games. The first would have the player take the role of one of those mysterious characters in a game who appears out of nowhere, delivers a message or item to the main character, then vanished when the camera is turned away. The gameplay would be like Metal Gear Solid, except instead of trying to avoid being spotted by the enemy, you have to avoid being spotted by the hero to maintain your mysterious persona. But you also have to follow them along and probably help them out because they're actually a terrible hero. To summarize in one sentence, you play as Sheik helping out a shitty Link without him noticing you except when the story dictates you appear from the shadows. The second was a variation of this where you have to sneak around and scare the crap out of AI controlled NPCs, but then I realized that this game already exists and is called Sneak King.

I forget what the first one was, the second was a Braun which was probably the most expensive yet my least favorite of the three, and I'm currently using a Norelco which thus far has been the best one. I do wish I could grow an actual beard out, but my facial hair is rather sparse. The one time I did try I quickly abandoned it because it became evident that my hair would actually grow out in a Fu Manchu style and I would turn into a walking parody of Chinese stereotypes.

The ALL NEW Monday Night Multi-Thumbs RANDOMIZER

We could run more than one of these at a time. One for the European folks and another for the North Americans. I'd volunteer to manage the NA one but I'm not sure I could regularly participate. -

I suggest adding it to the calendar as a regular event. -
So there's a blog post by Tom Bissell, one of the writers for the game, where he talks about the plot. It doesn't describe the story in any way, it's more about the tone. In particular, he talked about how the storytelling is "people over plot" and that there's "80% less exposition than games usually have". I'm not sure how I feel about that in this case. Given what we've talked about in this thread, I feel like a good plot could do a lot to assuage the fears we've had over glorifying a domestic military. It sounds like the goal was to create a series of memorable moments because of what you do and the characters in it, which I guess is fine, but again it seems like that would also work with a different presentation than the one they're using. Maybe they'll get it in the character moments but I honestly doubt it.
