I expect more to come out of it eventually, though I'm not exactly sure what. I'm hoping it involves real action instead of just tweets and youtube videos. It's still early so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

In case anyone was wondering, here's the Idle Thumbs curator page http://store.steampowered.com/curator/9561/ -
Emma's speech is largely about trying to get men engaged in feminism, so I can't really fault her for appealing to them in that manner. After all, the name of the organization is "he for she". And like osmosisch said, I don't think that's what the speech boils down to. It's a part of it for sure, but there's more to it than that. Is there a Mr. America pageant? There should be one if we still have Miss America. I wanna see the criteria for judging that.

While I'm at it, this is the organisation that she talked about http://www.heforshe.org/ I'm man number 40,225. Edit: Corrected my man number because I can't count apparently

And then of course, this happened http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/228407/4chan-threatens-emma-watson-with-nude-photo-leak-over-un-speech-on-gender-equality/ I hate everything

Emma Watson gave a pretty great speech about feminism to the UN

My last visit to a Disney was many, many years ago. The one thing I really remember was DisneyQuest. It's basically a 5 story arcade. Besides having a lot of classic arcade games, it also had some 3D rides/games, like one where you donned the old pre-oculus virtual reality headset and used a lightsaber like stick to fight monsters. Another one I remember let you build your own virtual rollercoaster, then get into a booth with a seat on hydraulics and a big screen where you could ride your creation. To a 12 year old kid, it was amazing.

YJ is extremely predictable if you have knowledge of the source material. In another cartoon it wouldn't be as big a deal but YJ takes itself very seriously and the big revelations aren't really that big when you see them coming a mile away. I still found the show to be pretty entertaining though. The thing that really drove me nuts was Zatanna and Rocket. They introduced two new characters to add to the team at the tail end of the first season, only to basically have them disappear from the show at the start of the second season. What was the point of that?

I can only remember one backer reward which was that Mike Krahulik would walk around and yell your name at a duck. I watched that video for about 5 seconds (I did not back the kickstarter btw). My impression of their kickstarter was that they were being completely serious about it but it came off like a parody to the rest of the world. -
I can't wait for the "I ate the phone!" campaign.

I don't like the actual comics because the storylines are nonsense. I've called them soap operas before because of how much "look, this character is dead but oh wait he's not really because of this crazy explanation that contradicts everything we said before so we're going to have an insane event that reboots the whole thing so we can start over and do the exact same thing". The cartoons represent a chance to tell a story about the characters (the actual interesting part of the comics) without necessarily being beholden to the awful canon. In quite a few cases they've improved the comics in the process (such as the tragic background for Mr. Freeze and the introduction of Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya from Batman the Animated Series).

My work here is done.

God I forgot how much cheese there is on that. Underneath all of it, Cincinnati style chili is the only food I've eaten thus far that looks the same going in as it does coming out (minus the noodles).

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form
SecretAsianMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Incidentally, I also live in a city that's often filmed as other cities and I'll totally admit to being excited when I recognize landmarks or places I've been. I still think that Iron Man thing is terrible though. -
I actually didn't enjoy the song part all that much (mostly because I hate auto-tune) but it was still fantastic.

I've only seen a couple videos of it being played (specifically and ) but I really love the ideas behind it. In a way it reminds me of Monaco in that you have different roles and you try to plan things out but everything inevitably goes haywire and craziness ensues. The one thing I really love is the planning phase, especially the way that the lines drawn in the overhead mode are actually visible on the ground in the first person view.

You are an evil person Bjorn. I love it.

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form
SecretAsianMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Honestly, the Iron Man stuff did offend me in a way. I was born and raised in the US but I'm of Chinese descent and it depresses me when the sole thing that makes me excited about a movie is that there's an Asian person in it. They're usually not the main character and if they are it's usually because they know martial arts, which is a separate problem. What bothered me about Iron Man was the method of appealing to a Chinese market was basically tokenism. They added a couple extra scenes that made no sense and had 2 known actors appear in completely irrelevant roles which I guess is somehow supposed to be enough to entice the Chinese market? That's a really lazy and shitty way to attract people to your movie. Don't get me wrong, I still like seeing Asian actors in movies, I just wish the reason to have them wasn't just so they could try and appeal to a demographic. -
Idle Thumbs 175: It's an Itchio

But that's when it's the best! -
I think it's going to be a PvP game, but Due Process looks like it might be similar to what you're describing.

If you really think about it, it doesn't even make good business sense. Let's assume men buy stuff aimed at men and women buy stuff aimed at women (a bad assumption I know but stick with me). That would mean there's a large, untapped market of women out there. Wouldn't you WANT to make things aimed at that audience? I mean, can you seriously justify ignoring such a huge potential market share? And that doesn't even take into account the increasing amounts of evidence that women are starting to or already have overtaken men in a lot of traditionally male dominated markets.

Apparently today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. I'm going to steal Teg's idea and talk like Guybrush Threepwood. I can't pick that up. I can't use these things together. I'd rather not touch that. I'm selling these fine leather jackets.

A fairly in depth opinion piece by Colin Campbell about why he thinks Sommers is wrong

I still want a nice, classy polo that I can get away with wearing to work. It would have to be 100% cotton though.

Idle Thumbs 176: The Classic Alien Form

Nitpicky comment: I'm currently replaying Link Between Worlds and Zelda isn't the one who gives Link the bracelet that lets him become a painting. That came from Ravio, the dude who sets up shop in Link's house. Anita's point remains valid nonetheless for reasons I won't get into because they're spoilery but I am compelled to point out dumb trivia like this. Question for Danielle: I see that you didn't include The Peacekeeper Wars on your Farscape list. I'm curious what your thoughts on it are. Repeating myself and tooting my own horn: The skip list for Star Trek that BigJKO mentioned above was actually developed on this forum, partially by myself but also others. TNG Skip List Additional TNG Episodes Voyager List DS9 List (I recommend reading more of the thread for other episode recommends but those are the big lists)
