Yeah I think they gave people a lot more invites. I think it started at 10 per person but when I sent some out last night, I had a lot more than that. I'm glad to hear its fake.

I never played ME3. I lost all motivation to continue the series after ME2, but a large part of that is my own fault. Between the release of ME1 and ME2, I had to get a new Xbox 360 because my old one red ringed. Somewhere in the transfer process I lost my save data which meant either replaying ME1 again or starting ME2 without a previous save. I didn't want to slog through 40+ hours to recreate my save data so I just started a new ME2 game. Nearly every choice in the game that was carried over from ME1 defaulted to the opposite of what I had done. I beat the game but I lost investment in the story since it wasn't really my story.

I can send you one tonight if someone else doesn't do it first.
  4. Idle Thumbs 177: The Good Ones

It's maybe not the best example, but seeing video of the new version reminded me that Gauntlet has a female melee character (Thyra the Valkyrie, apparently named after the historical Thyra) and a male archer character (Questor the Elf). The Elf is generally the fastest character while the Valkyrie has the best armor.

Honestly the thing I find the most troubling with the Bombcast is their opinions on food. Namely Jeff and Dan's idea that food is just a thing you consume and that taste seems to be irrelevant. Brad has on multiple occasions tried to convince them to do even simple things like seasoning a steak and while Dan seems to be somewhat open to the idea, Jeff pretty much just wants a hunk of cooked meat. The topic of sous vide comes up fairly often too and I'd like to try that if I could afford the equipment.

I sent invites to singlespace, sarah, and tberton. I still have more. Like a lot more.

Its not that specific tag that bothers me, its the implication that any tag could be. I hate that hashtag too but I wouldn't put it past gaters to try and do the same to a legitimate tag. But its hard to say without knowing more about the process.
  8. Ello.co

I'll totally believe some hateful shit was said which resulted in a ban, but I'm still disturbed by the line "The following words have been identified as hate speech: #GamerGate"
  9. Ello.co

I'm...honestly not sure how I feel about that. While #GamerGate has certainly been used for some terrible shit, I don't think banning the tag is the way to fix that. If the posts themselves had terrible shit in them, then fine, ban those. I get that its still in beta but I hope they don't try to take the complete opposite approach of Twitter and just let people declare anything they want to be offensive without some kind of review process because then it would be easy for something like #Feminism to get mislabeled. Then again I hate how hashtags are used 99% of the time so what do I know.
  10. Idle Thumbs 177: The Good Ones

If no one else is going to say it, I will CHRIS, HOW HAVE YOU NOT SEEN BACK TO THE FUTURE?!?!?!?! Gang beasts is such a hilarious looking game. I think my favorite levels are the fan one, the Ferris wheel, and the one on top of the trucks. I think the Thumbs should bring back the Saturday Streams and play it. Is Sunless Sea actually related to Fallen London? I've played Fallen London but I know nothing about Sunless Sea apart from what was discussed on the cast.

Maybe Sam and Max could join C-Sec. Or better yet, they could each be a representative of their species on the Citadel and team up for wacky hijinks. I'd play that.
  12. I Had A Random Thought...

Part of it is for comfort, but part of it is also out of necessity for me. Whenever I go into the plant, I have to pass though an airport-like security checkpoint which involves bomb detectors, metal detectors, radiation detectors, and X-Ray machines. My desk is outside the security checkpoint so its far easier for me to leave things like keys and wallet there than bring them inside with me. I will admit that on more than one occasion I've left my wallet at work.

I share this sentiment as well. I really want to do more with it but there's not a lot I want to play on it and the stuff I do I can't afford at the moment.
  14. I Had A Random Thought...

I pretty much only have my wallet in my back pocket when I'm standing. When I sit down at my desk at work I put it in a drawer with my keys. When I'm in the car I keep it on the console next to me. At home I have a basket which also holds my keys and work ID so I can grab everything at once on my way out the door. I'd love to slim my wallet down but I have a large amount of things I actually need to carry around with me so I can't really. When I'm going to need to carry more things than I have individual pockets for, I usually bring a messenger bag or backpack.

I also recently beat Link Between Worlds (for the second time) and I'd agree with you. I'm still not into the art but the game design is fantastic. I'd still have to give the original Link to the Past my personal vote for favorite, but Link Between Worlds is right up there.

I echo the ME1 love. I wasn't super into the mechanics or the story, but I love the setting. Running around the Citadel getting to know all these interesting aliens was great. Exploring a really well crafted space full of cool details is my favorite part of almost any game. To a lesser extent, I also enjoyed running around on the Normandy and poking all the nooks and crannies.
  17. Cartoons!

Every time I see the name Wakfu I always misread it as Waifu before I catch myself. I've never seen the show.
  18. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I don't have a problem with them not talking about the "ethics" angle, I was just a bit surprised to see it not addressed at all when they flat out say its one of the two main points. I would have preferred it if they didn't mention it if it wasn't going to be part of their story. Obviously that would have upset a lot of people but those people would have found something to be upset about no matter what.
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I notice that they didn't actually talk about the "ethics" angle at all, something the comments are quick to point out (yes I read some of them, bad idea I know). Seems like they should have said something, even if it was to point out that it was a smokescreen.

I have mixed feelings about Dan. Sometimes I find him entertaining and other times I find him stupid and annoying. While the other GB guys have their own moments of stupidity, on the whole I find them more entertaining and even intelligent than not. I will admit that Dan is bringing some enthusiasm back to the podcast. Drew's pretty quiet, Jeff only seems to get energetic when he's making a joke or being sarcastic, and Brad feels very subdued to me. I still think they're great guys but the dynamic that existed when Vinny and the late, great Ryan Davis were on the cast seems lost forever. I don't have anything personal against Dan and I can't blame him for wanting to be willfully ignorant about a lot of things (the last few months have certainly made me want to pretend a lot of stuff doesn't exist) but at the same time its getting tiresome to hear. About the Bombcast as a whole, I don't listen to it for the games. I think of it as a podcast that periodically talks about games but is mostly just random entertainment for me while I drive to/from work.
  21. Idle Thumbs 177: The Good Ones

Oh man, I saw Jake playing Gang Beasts on Steam and I was hoping it would be talked about on the podcast. Can't wait to hear it.
  22. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

So Steam has a music player now. Makes sense I guess.
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

I've never put my phone in my back pocket. Its always in a front pocket and always in a pocket by itself except on a few occasions where the other contents of the pocket are paper. I get that the new iPhone is a big fat thing that may not fit in a front pocket but that's your fault for getting it and not having the appropriate place to put it.
  24. Feminism

There are versions of the speech with no Wolf in them, I just linked the one that Tim Schafer tweeted.
