The joke was also that he is a failed adventurer who instead of saving the world just stands in the town and enchants your items but occasionally fails because he's so shitty.

Baby Got Backstory - A trope creation thread
SecretAsianMan replied to Bjorn's topic in Video Gaming
In the case of the Sidhe (faeries), the reason they appear sexy is because they choose to be. All creatures of the magical realm have to create bodies of ectoplasm to exist in our world. They can use magic to appear however they like and they like to choose a sexy body because they are master manipulators and naturally a sexy body helps. So in a way they are choosing to be sexy to mess with humans and aren't necessarily inherently sexy (although that is the implication). -
Baby Got Backstory - A trope creation thread

I've actually been trying to parse The Dresden Files in terms of this trope. As a bit of background, White Court vampires are emotional vampires. Each of the different Houses within the Court feed on a different type of emotion such as fear or despair. The House that appears most often is the House Raith, which feeds off of lust. They are for all intents and purposes succubi/incubi. The in-universe reason for their powers is they each contain an inner demon that must be fed. There's nothing that explicitly states they can only feed on one emotion, it seems to be a matter of preference. Since House Raith favors lust, all of its members are incredibly sexy. Interestingly the most prominently featured member of House Raith is a male, Thomas Raith, whom Harry describes as the "long lost Greek god of body cologne" and the "high priest of Bowflex" which I guess would make him a good male candidate of the trope. Since there are other vampires that can feed off of emotions besides lust, I think the members of House Raith would qualify for the trope. Or maybe it doesn't because they chose lust instead of being forced into it. I'm still not sure how we're defining the trope. -
We discussed Super Metroid and other games in the series in this thread if you care to look at that. Fusion, as was said by Rubix and Jon, is much more linear than most other Metroid games but no less fun. It does introduce the worst plot element in the series though, which comes to back to haunt Other M. Zero Mission is mostly an enhanced remake of the original Metroid but it plays like Super. It also has the first stealth sequence in the series. If you'd like to experience the first Metroid but can't take the NES version, I'd suggest that Zero Mission is a more than adequate substitute. If you want to go outside the 2D games, the Prime series is fantastic. The atmosphere and design are excellent and the gameplay is solid even though its a drastic departure from the rest of the series. Other M is a mixed bag. In terms of gameplay I thought it was fun and energetic, but it also contains the worst thing to ever happen to the series. I'm going to slightly spoil the story because it's TERRIBLE, but basically Samus has to work with her former commander who limits her abilities until he allows her to use them. Encounter a hot room that makes you take damage? Better equip the Varia suit. Oh wait, YOU CAN'T because he didn't tell Samus she could use it. It makes no sense.

I started the second season of House of Cards. The thing that I accidentally spoiled myself on happened in the first episode.

I'm afraid I have no helpful advice but I echo everyone else in saying I'm glad you're still with us Cine.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I'm going to assume you're talking about the 3DS game Dark Moon, in which case I agree. I never finished it either for the same reasons. It started to feel like a real grind to get through all the levels so I stopped before the fun ended. -
He also did a series of commercials with an animated Superman (voiced by Patrick Warburton) http://youtu.be/bQeuKDXuoEo

Kevin Spacey is definitely the main reason I'm enjoying it so much. I'm not sure how receptive I'd be to another portrayal of the same character. And I feel like knowing the details in advance would remove a lot of the intrigue. I already accidentally spoiled one thing for myself in Season 2 and now I'm worried its going to change the way I view events from here.

How much would I have to know about the UK's political system? I'm not very knowledgeable about the US system either, which is where the majority of my confusion comes from. Politics in general is not a thing I care for nor can stand very much of which is why I'm surprised I like this show. I think its the acting that's doing it for me.

I finished the first season of House of Cards. There's a lot of stuff to keep track of and I'm starting to get a little lost but its still fascinating to watch.

This is usually what its about. In theory I agree with the idea that people should spend time with their families more often, but the reality is you just can't do that without a ton of spare time from all parties. Christmas is when its socially understood that you're supposed to gather with family so schedules tend to work around that goal. Whatever the motive is, Christmas usually becomes the default gathering time because its convenient.

Who says bank robberies have to be scary? They can be fun too!

I was online for a while and hung out in the Idle Thumbs Steam group chat, but I didn't see anyone else. The Halloween stuff goes until Nov. 12 so we can try again next week.

My first thought when I saw the tweet was that it was Tifa cosplay. The fact that I can't distinguish the two without being explicitly told says something.

Just a reminder, wacky TF2 fun tonight maybe

The AI are capable of two things: shooting and reviving you. And their ability to do even those things is questionable. To accomplish anything beyond the basics, co-op is a requirement.

I'd like Hack 'n' Slash if you still have it.

Monoprice is great. If you want cheap cables that aren't cheap quality, it's definitely the place to go. -
It's October 31st and you know what that means. Happy Birthday Jake! Oh, and I guess its Halloween too but honestly, who celebrates that?

I've never gone to one at the actual venue, I usually watch part of it from the video feed they have at the convention center. But they seem to be full. They usually have part of the Omegathon before the concerts which also helps to draw a crowd. Do they do that in Aus?
