Old fart. I turn 30 in... less than 4 months. Oh. Well crap.

For me, the potential harm comes from other people. I don't care about TF2 hats and I don't buy stuff from the store, but I still have to deal with the people who spam the chat trying to sell their crap or send me random, uninvited trade requests. In that case, it's limited to one game and relatively easy to ignore, but I'm worried it will end up spreading across all of Steam now. To compare it to the smoking analogy, it's the second hand smoke I'm worried about. I don't smoke and I don't buy cigarettes, but it's still affecting me because the guy next to me did.

Idle Thumbs 107: GIANTBOMB.COM

Is daisy-chaining Xbox Ones the next gen version of this? -
Young Justice had some good stuff in it, but there were a lot of plot lines going on at once and several episodes are basically recaps/info dumps to try to bring them together. I do like their version of Robin but Miss Martian drove me NUTS ("Hello Megan!" WORST CATCHPHRASE EVER). But yes, Greg Weisman, the creator of Gargoyles, made Young Justice. He also made The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, but I never saw that. He also has a blog where he answers questions about his shows. And while looking at said blog, I just learned that the entire Gargoyles series is available for streaming for free. Sweet.

Always two there are, no more, no less. A franchise and a ruiner. While I'm not particularly excited about a new Star Wars anything, I am a big fan of Greg Weisman. I kinda liked Young Justice and I'm a HUGE Gargoyles fan (except for the third season which Greg had nothing to do with).

Haunting Ground features a dog pretty prominently. I never played it because it's a survival horror game and I'm a baby, so here's what Wikipedia says:

I'm imagining Jake's explosion sound effects in the background.

I had a Tamagotchi when I was a kid. Then I dropped it and the buttons stopped working so it died because I couldn't feed it or give it medicine. Some of the Sonic games had little creatures called Chao you could raise. Also Viva Piñata comes to mind. None of those are realistic though. Here's Wikipedia's List of artifical pet games

How big is the Xbox One?

My work browser of choice is IE7, but I'm thinking about trying IE7, or maybe IE7. And of course, there's always IE7.

An increasing number of forum threads are getting blocked by the web filter at work (the most recent being the Nextbox 1080 thread during the reveal). I will soon no longer be able to procrastinate at work by reading the Idle Forums. The strange thing is, they're not getting blocked because they're related to games, but because of "adult content". Either our web filter is reading a lot more into the subtext than I am, or I'm missing a lot of innuendo.

High fidelity mo-capped dogs? No thanks. High fidelity mo-capped Big Dogs? Now you've got my attention.

I think my allergies this year my finally suceed in killing me. My eyes itch so bad I think I would feel better if I removed them with my pen. I'm sneezing so much I could probably power my computer if I had a small wind turbine in front of me.

I will sadly be at work (seriously, who does this kind of thing in the middle of a weekday?) so the chat will be devoid of my awkward comments and pauses.

I'm glad this thread exists because this would have made less sense otherwise

RE sneezing while looking at light: It's called the Photic Sneeze Reflex. Long story short, an estimated 18-35% are susceptible. Alternate names include autosomal dominant compulsive helio-ophthalmic outbursts of sneezing aka ACHOO.

I'm not blaming Team Ninja for Other M's massive issues, but there is some cause for concern when your studio is known for stuff like this

My facial hair grows in weird ways. If I don't shave it, it will eventually grow into a Fu Manchu style. And I somehow feel that would be racist.

I always thought that her height was because of the Chozo infusing their DNA into her. As for Other M, I wasn't excited because Team Bouncy Boobs Ninja was working on it, but more because I wanted a bit more action in a Metroid game. Don't get me wrong, I love exploration and traversal in a Metroid game as much as anybody, but in combat I always felt like how I imagined Samus to fight didn't match up with my ability to control the game. The early previews of Other M seemed to be closer to that. She's more agile and acrobatic which comes more from her than the suit, especially considering the incredibly stupid way that game limits her.

Sno's pretty much covered everything, but I'll weigh in here anyway. I never really got into Metroid 2, but I think that's mostly because I played it on my Gameboy during a long car ride and I got sick, so I just have a bad feeling associated with it. Even thinking about it now makes me a little queasy. I completely agree with Sno about Fusion and Other M's terrible story bits. Every time one of those games called Samus "Lady" I wanted to hit it. Although when Other M was announced, I felt like this Zero Mission was a neat revisit to the original and it's the first Metroid game I purposely sequence broke during the first playthough. The original Metroid holds a place of nostalgia for me, but it is fairly unremarkable when compared to the rest of the series. But I will never forget Justin Bailey as long as I live. It's a toss up for me between Super and Prime for my favorite. They both have amazing atmosphere and are full of little touches that I love. I think Prime might have a slight edge due to 2 specific things. One is the scan visor. I'm not really the kind of person who usually goes after all the collectibles in a game, but I LOVED scanning things in Prime. I'm a sucker for the "advanced civilization that no longer exists but left evidence all around" kind of thing and learning more about the Chozo was awesome. The other thing is kind of strange. I have a very clear memory of being amazed at seeing Samus' reflection in the visor. It actually scared me at first because I thought another person was standing behind me and I was seeing their reflection in my TV. That kind of detail really endeared that game to me. That and seeing Samus' hand inside her weapon when using the X-Ray visor showing how the configuration of her fingers controls which beam she's using (although in Prime 3 you can see her pulling a sort of trigger). Also, I love the music in the menu screen, as dumb as that sounds.
