I wouldn't mind a chance to discuss some of my favorite games. I'd probably also join in a replay if I can find the games.

Curse of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, and Fate of Atlantis are my top 3. I won't argue they're the best, but as Jake pointed out in the latest cast, there's a difference between favorite and best. I love Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, MI 1 & 2, etc. as well, but those three stand out to me. I'm also going to advocate for The Dig. It's got some flaws for sure (stupid dead creature bone puzzle), but I really love the atmosphere, style, and xenoarcheology theme. Plus the T-1000, Robert Patrick.

Idle Thumbs 111: Cruisin' for a Word that Rhymes With Cruisin'

How about this: a cab company that also delivers pizza. That way when you're at a bar drunk, you can call a cab and when you get home, you have pizza!

When I was a freshmen in college, one of my professors said something that has always stuck with me. He showed a picture of an old room sized vaccum tube computer and said "Do you know what device has more computing power than that?" He then pulled out a greeting card that plays music when you open it. That was over a decade ago.

Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game is the Street Fighter: The Movie of Street Fighter games. I think I did that right. Street Fighter.

Finished this. I suspect there were some things I didn't do (like clear the sulfur mine) but overall I liked it. I'd be interested to see if it get updated at all. And I still have no idea what the charm does.

Nothing like getting called into work at 4am to really make you hate needing sleep. dibs: You should open with a ( and not close it.

You can craft it as long as you have the resources, you don't need to find them first. I crafted my first sword before I found one. Also, you can carry more than one type of weapon which will give you additional attacks, but carrying multiples of the same type will gain you nothing. I wish I could drop or pick up all of a certain item instead of clicking one by one. Also I don't like how the inventory grays out a bit when you're in combat. Makes it harder to see how much meat I have left. I still have no idea what the charm does.

What does the charm do? I only have one and I'm afraid to waste it on nothing.

I do have one caveat to my never wanting to sleep and that's long car/plane rides. I get carsick reading or staring at a screen too long and I just don't like flying (despite or perhaps because of the number of times I've done it). In those instances I prefer to sleep in order to make the time pass quicker.

Don't know if you got the phone or not miffy, but the current Humble Bundle is once again Android themed.

Not so much one specific thing as many things. Basically, I want to do everything. But I don't start most things because I know I don't have time to do them to the degree I would like. Let's say I average about 7 hours of sleep a night (I usually don't but for the sake of arguement lets say I do). In a week, that's nearly 50 hours. Even if I spent all that time playing games, that's at least one game a week (probably more). Right now, I'm lucky to get through one game a month.

Maybe you missed your nap. You should lie down old man.

So far I like this more. Candy Box was interesting but I didn't know what to make of it. This makes me feel more nostalgic and comfortable, despite never playing it until now. Edit: My work browser is giving me some issues and I can't make progress. I'll have to try it more later.

I'll agree about the sleeping but I like eating. Cooking is a hobby of mine and I love the taste of a good meal.

I'm not worried about spoiling my perception (especially since I've already played it), I just don't care for the updated look. I do like the voices though so I might leave that on. Ever since playing Curse I've retroactively applied the voices to my memories.

Time. I would rather be doing something else I want to do instead of something I have to do.

I hate sleep, but I certainly don't want to spend that time working. When I say "get stuff done", I meant stuff that I want to do but don't have the time. If I could remove my need to sleep but I had to spend that time working, I'll stick with sleep.

I feel the same way. I bought MI:SE right away and breezed through it because I've played MI so many times I could do it all in my sleep. MI2 I've only played through completely once because when I was a kid, my friend and I played them both together, but he had to move right after we beat MI2. He liked the game so much I gave him my copy and never got another one. I haven't bought MI2:SE yet but I might now after reading all this stuff. I think I'll play with the original look though.

I'm not sure I get the "waste of time" arguement. If you're saying that everything leading up to your death is pointless because you died, then I would also say that everything leading to the end of the game is equally pointless. Once you beat the game your character doesn't continue because the game doesn't continue, with a few exceptions. I would say the real point is the experience you had playing the game and not the manner in which the game ends. Maybe a permadeath is not a satisfying ending to you, which is a fair thing to say, but I wouldn't necessarily call it pointless. I feel I should say that despite all the arguements I'm making I actually agree with you in some ways thestalkinghead. I also prefer games where I can save/load and am not overly fond of permadeath. I just don't agree with your reasons for not liking it. I find permadeath stressful and I already have enough stress in my real life that I don't like to add it to my virtual one.

I made a casual remark to my co-worker this morning about being tired and how if I could get rid of the biological need to sleep, I would never choose to sleep (except maybe on a long trip like a flight). He basically told me I was nuts and that he would still choose to sleep even if he didn't need it. I told him we could get so much more stuff done if we didn't spend 1/3 of our lives unconcious but he didn't seem to understand the appeal.

I don't think that's necessarily true. A lot of those games are designed with the idea that players will die, quite frequently in some cases. The frequent deaths make that one run where you finally win even more satisfying. It doesn't mean that the game would never have a no-win situation (not that I'm suggesting devs purposely program no-win scenarios), it just hopefully means that it won't occur every time. Not every run has to be possible, just some of them do. I think your fictional XCOM scenario is a very distinct possibility, but it won't happen all the time.
