Besides being one of my favorite games, I love the music in Terranigma This one is my absolute favorite, even though its really short. Edit: I guess you can only embed two at a time?

The low HP is due to being a mage. Getting the bounty upgrades first is a valid approach, I did the same thing. It's one of those tactics that makes it harder in the short term but pays off in the long run. Haggle isn't as useful in the beginning though because you won't have a lot of leftover money until the prices go way up and you have 1000+ gold left over after buying everything you can afford.

The origin story I always believed is that w00t originated as a 90s hacker term for gaining root access on a system through illicit means, as in "w00t I got root".

That was my problem with the Let's Play thing. LPs I've seen have done more to sway me than any Nintendo commercial ever has. LPs have never been about spoiling a game, they're about showing how much fun playing a game can be. The Smash thing makes even less sense to me because its one of those games that's pretty much pure gameplay. What better way to get people to want to buy and play your game than showing just how fun it really is?

The discussion reminded me of that too. I also thought of Spaceteam when Chris was describing the game about ruining a pilot's ability to fly a plane.

I didn't get into RPGs for a long time, so terms like tanking, proc, buff, DPS, etc. were once mystifying to me. Now, the terms associated with Lords management games are the ones I don't know. Listening to DOTA Today is a strange experience. I understand words like carry, laning, and mid, but I'd be lying if I said I knew what they meant. One of my favorite terms my friends and I came up with back in the early days of TF2 was the "uberneer". We used to mess with the opponents by sending an ubercharged engineer to build a base near the spawn or behind enemy lines. Most of the time it simply worked as a distraction but every now and then a team would fall for it and we could teleport behind them with the safety and comfort of a sentry and dispenser. I'm also a fan of the Giant Bomb coined term "abilitease". Brad explained it once on the Idle Thumbs cast, but it's basically when a game starts you off with a lot of abilities and them takes them away. Examples of this are the Metroid Prime and God of War games.

I started listening to the Bombcast in the car on the way to work, but I had to stop because it was raining so hard I couldn't hear. Its like the sky was crying over the loss of Ryan. But from what I've heard so far, it sounds like a Giant Bomb Irish wake. Sharing stories about Ryan and laughing over memories. Despite the circumstance (or maybe because of it), this might be my favorite Bombcast yet.

Raising the stats will take you so far, skill will take you further, but once you hit NG+ and beyond the game starts throwing so much stuff at you there's almost nothing you can do except equip grace runes. The bosses at that point actually become the easiest part. My personal favorite class is the spellthief. Weaken from a distance with amped up magic, then finish them off with the sword to get the MP back. I cleared the entire map on NG+++ with a spellthief and chakram.

Fuck. This may be the first time I've ever dreaded listening to the cast. I'm glad you guys did the stream before hand, that helped me out a lot.

I occasionally have that dream. They are terrible. I think the worst one was a calculus final I hadn't prepared for at all. The feeling didn't go away when I woke up because I haven't used that level of calculus for so long I actually have forgotten it.

I missed the beginning of that panel during PAX East but I snuck into it during the last hour or so. Needless to say, I was very confused. I later watched the whole panel and it was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen.

Every mention I've seen has also linked to the original Giant Bomb announcement. In fact many of the tweets from gaming outlets I saw were just a few words and a link to Giant Bomb, they didn't even mention to their own pages.

There have been a few updates to the TF2 blog lately. Apparently Valve can do more than just add hats and they're going to do some rebalancing of maps and items. I'm glad that they're still paying attention to the actual game and not just the trading side quest.

I'm still amazed at how few snarky comments I've seen about this. Whenever anything tragic happens there's always at least one person who's going to be an asshole about it and say something like "he deserved it" or whatever. But I haven't seen that happen at all. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough or in the right places, but it says a lot to me that the one guy who would probably get a laugh out of such comments isn't eliciting a single one.

Thanks a million for the great Surgeon Simulator stream. It provided a much needed catharsis after the whirlwind of emotions today.

That's probably a good idea. I started a NG+++ because I cleared out the entire map and the only choices left were suicide or kill the boss. I have all the stats maxed, all the equipment purchased, and all the runes purchased. Even with all that, I can't get through just the castle part without at least one grace rune. I'm also missing the circus achievement and it's driving me nuts. Stupid clown.

That's the one I'm halfway through. There's no way I'm going to be able to finish it now.

I'm at a loss for words. I've spent the last few minutes looking on the internet for someone to reveal this was a joke gone horribly wrong but that appears to not be the case. I still haven't finished listening to the last Bombcast he was on and now I'm not sure I'll ever be able to.

I'm on NG++ and can basically beat the last boss and get to NG+++ any time I feel like. I've been working on getting everything else first. I almost have all the stats maxed (3 left at this time), all the equipment, and all the runes. The bosses are actually easier than the rest of the mobs at this point because every room I enter is filled with projectiles and giant monsters. As for beating the final boss, here are some tips (not really spoilers but I'll hide them anyway)

One of my cards is the trading card emote, which I at first mistook for a "trading card" trading card.

Link does appear to be in his Twilight Princess garb, but the Zelda stage is clearly Skyloft from Skyward Sword, so maybe that version of Link will still appear.
