All the paintings I've gotten have been fake so far. I've considered looking them up before buying them, which is something I'd normally do in a game, but this time I'm going to play it straight. Since only play the game about 30 minutes or less at a time, I want it to unfold at a slower pace than I would normally take so it will last longer. I don't want to rush ahead and run out of interesting stuff. Although I do admit I get kind of jealous when I see all the amazing towns other people have created. Gives me something to look forward to though.

Rut is a bad term to describe my situation. I shouldn't have used it. Rut implies a routine, and while my life has become somewhat routine, that's not the thing that's bringing me down. It's more of my whole situation, what I'm currently doing, what I want to do, and mostly what I have no other choice but to do. LIke I said, it's very personal and very complicated. Twig, I sadly have no useful advice that hasn't already been given, so all I can say is keep trying.

Sounds like you're further ahead than I am. I don't have those last 3 things you mentioned. And the only silver tools I have I either bought from someone else's town or was given the item (thanks tegan!).

Got a third bridge now and Club LOL has just opened up. I'm really enjoying coming in each day and discovering a new thing. I just wish I had more time to spend in it. Maybe once I hit Tanukitsune levels of play I'll get sick of it but for now it's still new enough to me I'm having fun.

Super Smash Bros. (Spoiler: Snake Kills Ganondorf)

Someone gets the butt. -
I recently watched the latest series finale for Futurama. I thought it was a good episode overall, but lacking as a series finisher. I suspect that they may be expecting another resurrection at some point so they stopped short of giving it a real ending.

Every time I heard Outlast, my brain conjured up Outrun Also, Chris needs a Happy Cat Alarm Clock -
I think I've heard of that actually. I had forgotten about it until you mentioned it. I'd still like to hear a Thumbs movie commentary though.

Is there such a thing as custom DVD commentaries? Like commentaries made by people who had nothing to do with the movie but might have interesting things to say about it. Sometimes I feel like that about video games while listening to Idle Thumbs, and it makes me want them to record a commentary for a movie that I can listen to as I watch it. Kind of like a Let's Play, except with a movie. A Let's Watch if you will.

The first thing I thought of was Wanted and curving bullets.

Our computer network was down most of the day today so I spent the majority of the morning browsing around on my phone. I work at a nuclear power plant, which means that my work cycle is a bit different than most. Every few weeks I'm on call as part of the emergency response team, so I can't be too far away and have to be fit for duty at all times in the event I'm needed. Also, as part of the nuclear fuel cycle, every 18 months or so we have to shut down the reactor to refuel it and do maintenance work. These outages last over a month on average, and we have 2 units so there's at least one every year. Since we're not producing power during the outage, we want to get through it as fast as possible. Which means lots of overtime. I usually work nights, 10+ hours a day, 6 days a week. I don't consider myself a workaholic because I never think about work at home, but every so often I'm forced to become one.

Recommend me some good two-player co-ops! (Please!)
SecretAsianMan replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Video Gaming
I've sunk more hours into Dungeon Defenders than I really care to admit. It is some fun co-op, but I have to warn you about the seedy underbelly. As is true of many loot based games, there's a giant, ugly market that exists for items and many games will attempt to kick you immediately if you aren't using the correct build or have crazy high stats. At high level play, the game becomes a serious grind where the "best" strategies involve standing around doing nothing except repairing towers and not dying. I stopped playing at that point because the most common tactic to win the game was to not actually play the game, but to figure out how to afk the whole thing. Granted, that was a year ago so the scene might have changed since then. And up until it became horrible, I was having a lot of fun. As for Torchlight II, I'll agree the vanilla game isn't terribly great, but there are some awesome mods out there, especially the class mods. I don't know how it works in Diablo III, but Torchlight II uses steamworks really well to incorporate mods. All you have to do is subscribe to them from the community page and they'll auto install and update. It's also really easy to get any mods you're lacking to join a game because there's a button that does it for you in the lobby browser. I'd suggest trying a few before you give up on Torchlight II entirely. -
I got my badges in the mail yesterday. Anyone else going to Seattle? Want to meet up, play some sweet games?

Thanks guys. Outside of the posts here, I was also contacted directly by a few forum members. I'm still kind of in a funk and I don't see it going completely away anytime soon because the situation won't be changing in the near future. But it's nice to feel like I have some support and be reminded how great this community really is. And dibs, the specific bag I have is this one. I also have one of the messenger style bags. I find them to be comfortable and the battery works great. The biggest downside is they're a little smaller than I'd like. The compartments aren't very large so you won't be able to put a ton of stuff in it. It's possible the backpack style bags solve this problem, but I can't say since I don't have one. For my purposes, the sling bag held what I needed it to so I was satisfied. And to make me into an even bigger nerd, I got them on sale at Woot.com. They show up fairly often so if you really want one I'd check there every now and then.

I still can't get over how genius that is.

In terms of puzzles, the Wits path is supposed to be harder, but I don't really remember it myself. Fate of Atlantis is different from games like Monkey Island because those games have a lot more cartoon logic in them. FoA, while fantastical, is more real world logic. It's "I need gears to make this robot work" instead of "I need to make a wrench out of this monkey that I hypnotized with a banana on a metronome". Both are appropriate for their respective games, but in the case of FoA it means you don't have to think outside the box quite as much.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

It's gone. Should I be glad I missed it? -
I agree with this, although I think The Dig was harder because some of the puzzles weren't designed as well, not because they were necessarily more difficult. I actually stopped playing this time at the lava room with the Scooby-doo esque doors. I might go back and finish it, but since I've done it before and I was really only playing the game again to follow along with your playthrough, I probably won't. Also that giant mural in the lava room was once talked about on an older cast I think. I believe Chris discussed brute forcing the solution, then afterward noticing the giant mural.

I had one a few nights ago that involved a car chase, wolves, TAS version of Batman, and Rock Band. I don't remember the details, just that those things were in it somehow.

Zelenka is great too. I like how David Nykl (the actor who plays Zelenka) is Czech and can actually speak it, so they just made that part of his character. Whenever he speaks Czech on the show, the script has the stuff in English and he just translates it himself. As for Ba'al, just wait. He's an important part of the second movie (which I feel is the better of the two).
