I know how you feel in a way. I was in a similar situation with my high school/college girlfriend. We broke up because of religious reasons (she had a religion, I didn't). There were other things too, but that was the main thing. In my head, I knew we weren't right for each other. But I repeatedly had dreams about her and thought about calling her for a long time. Fortunately (?) for me, she ended up getting married so my problem kind of solved itself. So I guess I don't really have any advice for you after all.

I took the first, the last one was taken (maybe by Lu), no idea about the middle one. Thanks Lacabra, looks like a cool game.

Last night I had a dream in which Sarah Argodale appeared. I blame Nick Breckon.

I love how Bernard tells the hamster that sticking him in the freezer is going to help save the world, as if he knows why he's doing it but we as the player likely don't.

Chris looks for mail to read. He skips a bunch because they're too long but promises to read them later even though he never will.

Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, Bioshock 2, The Cave vets form Campo Santo

The studio's creation itself was a Lords Management game because it must have taken some serious management to get these lords together like this. -
That was weird for me to read. Not offensive or uncomfortable or whatever it is we're arguing about, just weird.

Yes! They should just make every game that Jake has wished for on the cast. -
That is a fantastic article. It basically says all the stuff I was trying to say, only much much better. Edit: I also made the mistake of looking at a few comments. To paraphrase someone in the article (I'm not sure who), "That good feeling I had? Gone."

I agree with that. I used to have a friend who was Mormon and while he never told me so, I knew he was uncomfortable whenever I said the words fuck, shit, damn, etc. So when he was around I would replace them with other, usually made up words. We both knew what I meant, but it made him feel better hanging around me and I wasn't going to put his beliefs into question over something as trivial as "darn".

Actually I'm pretty sure Gunpoint was made with Game Maker, much like Spelunky.

Idle Thumbs 124: Blockbuster Black Case
SecretAsianMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Like Chris, I had also never heard of Maniac Mansion as a kid and thus had no idea Day of the Tentacle was a sequel. As a side note to that, I recently replayed DotT. Still a really good game. In regard to the Gone Home era, the narrative would have been very different if it had taken place in the present. The relative social isolation of Sam and Lonnie in Gone Home plays a big part in their story and relationship, something that would have taken a different form if they had access to Facebook, Twitter, cell phones, etc. I think Steve said one of the reasons the game takes place when it does is the lack of cell phones because then Sam could have simply called Katie instead of leaving the much more intimate journal entries. Also, did you guys get the replacement candy? -
When I was a kid, my friends and I once filled our water guns with red kool-aid. We thought it was fun because when we shot each other we would "bleed", but it later became a gross, sticky mess as the kool-aid dried. In retrospect we could have left the sugar out since we weren't drinking it, but our kid logic demanded it be real kool-aid.

I finally got a legit piece of art from Redd, so that wing of my museum is no longer totally empty. Funding the second floor is my next project, once I get this lighthouse built. I don't have time for trips to the island though, so getting the necessary bells could take a while.

If it makes you feel any better, I know how you feel. I'm really busy at work and home with barely any time to relax, which I really REALLY need to right now. Yesterday I thought that I had managed to get a little bit ahead and take care of some important things, only to find that I was wrong and in fact had even more stuff to do with less time to do it in. This resulted in a mild panic attack yesterday, but luckily I got some kind words from a friend (thanks Tegan) that helped out a lot. And to anyone who has/is/will work customer service or has to deal with people like Gormongous and Nachimir, I have nothing but sympathy. It's sadly very easy to transfer anger at a company or policy to the individual you're speaking to even though it's in no way their fault. If you can manage to get through those situations with a calm, courteous demeanor than you're a better person than I.

The ending to Atlantis is the worst. I think the plan was to follow Atlantis up with movies in the same way as SG-1, but that's clearly never going to happen, so we're stuck with an unsatisfying ending.

I'm always hesistant to vilify someone based on a single point of data. Maybe that guy was having a bad day or just got some bad news. Maybe he really is an asshole and that's normal behavior for him. Neither of those is an excuse but without more knowledge of the guy who knows what the truth is. That said, first impressions mean a lot and if that's how he reacts in that situation perhaps he should replaced with someone who can act in more professional manner all the time, or at the very least maybe he should be doing something else. Not everyone is a people person (I'm not one really). And kudos to the tired people who still managed to act in a calm manner while some guy is screaming in their face about nothing. I can honestly say I probably wouldn't have done the same.

I know how you feel about getting unreachable fairy chests or buffing up a stat only to get several classes in a row that don't benefit at all. But on the flip side, each time I had the exact right combination of runes or magic that let me get a fairy chest, it felt really awesome. That sort of describes the game as a whole to me. You will suck most of the time, but every now and then you get an amazing run and it feels really good. Those moments made me keep at it long enough that they started to become the norm for me.

That's a fair enough assessment. It's certainly not a game for everyone, and before I played it, I probably would have said it's not my kind of game either. I'm not a big fan of permadeath stuff (although I admit it's starting to grow on me) and I also like having a specific choice. But Rogue Legacy made me adopt a "what the heck, let's give it a try" attitude and it worked extremely well. I eventually honed in on a particular class/trait/spell combination that worked best for me (Spellsword with a chakram specifically) and those were the most productive runs from a gold standpoint, but I liked the change each new heir presented. If I got to pick a specific class from the start, I would probably have gotten bored much faster because I would have picked one class and stuck with it, never trying the rest like I normally do with games that let me.
