  1. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I'm really loving following along as well. It makes me really glad I'm not standing behind you while you play because I think the urge to simply point out every puzzle solution would be too great in real life. I'm having a hard enough time not creating a massive spoiler filled post.
  2. Feminism

You know it's entirely possible to believe the same things as other people and still be an individual. Just because you share someone's view on one thing (or many things) it doesn't mean you're the same as that person.
  3. Return of the Steam Box!

I wish it had more buttons on the back. I want a controller with a bunch of buttons on the rear where I have several fingers, instead of on the front where I have 2 (idle) thumbs.
  4. Life

There is something very satisfying about being in a physical space and being able to do anything you want to it. Want to knock down a wall? Go right ahead, it's yours! Don't like this color? Feel free to change it! Want to hang something or paint an ugly mural or take a bat to it or park a car in it or throw a rave or play paintball or have a snowball fight or a waterballoon fight or a boxing match or build an arcade or WHATEVER, who's gonna stop you? No one, that's who. In other news, tonight is the night I start working night shift. You know what makes moving even more fun? Being up all night at work.
  5. Idle Thumbs 125: Eyes of the G-Man

Now all we need is that Vine of Jake eating 9 Nerds Ropes.
  6. Life

Well, I own a home now. I guess I'm an adult or something.
  7. Life

Tomorrow I close on my new house. I also start working long night shifts six days a week for the next month and a half. So I get to work all night and move during the day. This is gonna be fun.
  8. Neverending Nightmares

I had my doubts several times, but Neverending Nightmares got funded. There's also an interesting story about how one backer accidentally raised his donation $9000 higher than he meant to and how the community came to his aid by raising their own pledges so he could reduce his.
  9. Dreams!

Had a really disturbing dream last night. It took place in The Last of Us, which I haven't played so my brain made up a lot of stuff. It started off with Joel and Ellie surviving in an abandoned department store. After fending off various zombie attacks, the game became multiplayer. It was sort of like capture the flag, except instead of a flag, the goal was to... Thankfully, that never actually happened in the dream, but the sheer fact that I knew that was the objective and I was still playing the game really REALLY bothers me.
  10. Return of the Steam Box!

Actually, I stole that photo from NeoGaf, so I have no idea who it is. But I do need to reapply my toenail polish.
  11. Return of the Steam Box!

The part that made me happy was about the buttons, specifically One thing that drives me nuts with most controller designs is most of the buttons are placed to be pushed with 2 thumbs. The introduction of triggers helped, but I still have several idle fingers. And I'm often frustrated when games force me to do things like this
  12. Idle Thumbs 125: Eyes of the G-Man

Comes packaged with the special Candy Box edition of the Steam Box.
  13. Space

    Curiosity finds water on Mars
  14. Building a home theater...

I would be interested to see what you come up with because my new house is a blank slate and I'm also considering the same things you are. Thewirecutter likes the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 5020 projector, but it's $2600 which is maybe more than you're looking to spend.
  15. Nintendo 3DS

The XL feels just a little too small for me, to the point that I bought a grip for it. It's much more comfortable now, but also entirely impossible to pocket. Still, I'm glad that I went straight for the XL because I suspect the regular 3DS would have been tiny to me. On a related note, the 2DS actually felt pretty good in my hands because I was able to hold the entire body instead of just the bottom screen. But those screens are so tiny and I don't like the overall look.
  16. Idle Thumbs 125: Eyes of the G-Man

I would have sent something to Nick, except I had no idea what to send him. So all he got was a card with an apology for not sending him something. The gold coins for Lord Remo was an idea I got from some people at PAX, only modified to be chocolate coins instead of actual gold goins. The chocolate/gummy band-aids for Sean were a happy accident because they were in the store. And Jake's Nerds Ropes need/deserve no explaination.
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

That scene was originally going to have Ben Browder reprise John Crichton, but he and Michael Shanks decided to switch it up because they felt it would be more amusing and unexpected. Plus Browder was excited to be able to play Stark.
  18. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I fully expect to reach that same point someday. But for now I'm still in the phase where I find/get new things almost everyday. Although there are times where I just do the minimum amount of daily interaction with my town and then afterwords realize I didn't have any fun doing it.
  19. Life

The kitchen is still missing the gas range (which I'm stupidly excited to have because I hate cooking on electric) which will be in on Monday. I have to get my own fridge.
  20. Life

I just completed the walk through of my brand new house. It will never be this clean again. Edit: Pictures
  21. I Had A Random Thought...

RE Healthy Food and Studies: I like this visualization, which updates itself as studies are published (note I'm not suggesting that this information is 100% accurate or valid, I just think it looks cool). Nothing in there on milk though. RE Chinese lactose intolerance: It's a strange thing. I'm Chinese (born and raised in the US) but I've never had any issues with lactose and I love cheese. My parents can't really tolerate dairy products and it's generally true for most people China. I'm a weird exception I guess.
  22. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

My museum's second floor opened up today. I grabbed a silver shovel and fishing rod from it. Now all I need is a silver watering can to complete the set. Edit: Oh, I guess need a silver axe too.
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

I didn't really start to get into Universe until the second season, which is a shame since it ended there. I'm not a big fan of BSG so at first I didn't really like that Universe was trying to follow that mold. But it quickly became its own thing and while I missed my stupid gimmicky episodes and nonsensical sci-fi gibberish Universe proved it has some interesting stories to tell and good characters to tell them with. I should probably watch it again.
  24. Return of the Steam Box!

    Don't forget Portal 3!
