One of those is the intro to . Don't know about a second instance.

I've been playing the new updated version and I don't like the new boss remixes. You're forced to fight each one with a specific set of class, traits, and equipment. They've removed all the choice out of the fight, which is kind of the point of this game. I'm playing with my last save before the update on NG +3 and I can clear the entire castle in one generation (especially if I'm using a Spellsword), but the set forced on me during the remixed bosses is making them all but impossible.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
SecretAsianMan replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
I also like Voyager. It's definitely got some flaws, such as the insane amount of technobabble, but there's some fun to be had in there too. -
There's no Dual Destinies thread! Oh wait, I guess there is now. I grabbed Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies from the eShop. I've completed the first case and I've started the investigation on the second. It's definitely an Ace Attorney game, which is good or bad depending on how you feel about the series. What's surprising me is how much I like the 3D in this game. I think the game looks much better with the 3D on. It's kind of gimmicky but the perspectives benefit from the 3D effect, especially in the court room. I'm not really liking some of the new characters, particularly the new detective, but we'll see how that goes. I do like the defendent for the second case though. He cracks me up. Anyone else playing it?

While I mostly agree with what you're saying, I'm going to take exception to one thing. This is one of the anti-PAX sentiments that bothers me a lot. I hear a lot of people saying they'll never go to PAX, either again or for the first time, because of the cheering in the dickwolves panel. While that is a totally valid concern, there's a sort of assumption that because this happened at PAX, that's what all PAX is like. I assure you this is not the case. Are there rabid PA fans who attend PAX? Absolutely. Are there people who say/do horrible things at PAX? Absolutely. Are they the majority? Absolutely NOT. Yes, the people who cheered in the dickwolves panel are, but keep in mind this is a panel specfically about Penny Arcade, so of course the Penny Arcade fans are going to be there. Most of the people I've met and talked to at PAX don't give a shit about Penny Arcade. A lot of them don't even know what Penny Aracde is besides a thing that hosts a gaming convention. The reason they're there is because they want to see games. If people really do feel uncomfortable, or even afraid, attending PAX, then by all means they are allowed to say so and not go. But don't assume that I'm the kind of person who's going to cheer at shit like dickwolves just because I said I like going to PAX. And to be clear, I'm not attacking you Tycho (uh, our Tycho not PA's). I'm not trying to start an argument or be belligerent or even imply that this is what you really think PAX is like, you just happened to mention a thing that really bothers me and I had to vent a little. I actually agree with most of what you've said.

That is very true, if the hub isn't implemented in a way that marginalizes the significance as just another "different thing". A showcase is nice, but care needs to be taken that it isn't shown as one of "those" games and instead as an important game in it's own right. Part of that is up to the developer to show, but part of it is also in what form they're allowed to show it.
-
I'm reserving final judgement until it gets implemented, but here are my thoughts. I don't see the hub as a euphemism for ghetto or prison or any other similar thing. No one is going to say you have to go hang out in the corner if you aren't a straight, white male. In fact PAX would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing that since a huge portion of the attendees don't fit that description. And I very much doubt that all the games/devs/panels/info is going to only exist in this one section. It's more of a centralized location to find a lot of it, in the same way that PAX itself is a place to find out stuff about games but that doesn't mean games don't exist outside of PAX. I'm sure the show floor will also include some similar content, since the promotional registration policy states it's required for promoters to have a presense in the EXPO hall as well (though if you only wish to interface with the community and not promote anything then you don't need representation in the hall). There will still be panels, still be games, still be people outside the hub who are going to talk about these things. The hub is perhaps just a way to help highlight and focus it a bit. On the other hand, I can also see it as a misstep. In the case of the Indie Megabooth and most game companies, they're purposely trying to make themselves stand out from the crowd. They want to be noticed for their crazy new thing. But when it comes to people, specifically the ones the hub will supposedly cater to, I don't think the idea is to stand out because you're different. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the point isn't to be different, it's to be equal. They don't want to be seen as different, they want to be seen and treated the same way anyone else is. You don't necessarily do that by shining a spotlight on it. I am Asian and therefore in a minority, but I don't want to be thought of as "the Asian guy". The proper thing to do would be to integrate the hub's intentions into the show's core itself, give it equal footing with other big name events. Maybe even have Mike specifically state that's hes going to one of these panels. There's some contradiction in my thoughts here but I'm trying to see both sides of the argument before I make a snap decision that this is good or evil.

That periodically happens to me with my phone. I will suddenly forget the lock pattern and screw it up a couple times, even though I've done it hundreds of time before, sometimes even just minutes ago.

I fully acknowledge that the Dig isn't as well designed as most of the other games, but I still like it because of the setting and atmosphere.

The NES Remix thing looks like Super Mario Bros Crossover.

I've been a rather vocal supporter of PAX on this forum but I do acknowledge it has problems that need to be fixed. I'm glad to see them taking some steps toward that, however I wonder if creating a separate space is really the best approach. I'd prefer to see it become a core part of the show. Still I don't want to pass too much judgement without knowing more.

I had an idea for a couple of movies last night. They would all tell the same story, but each movie would follow the perspective of a different character. You release them all at the same time with the same name so that different people see the same story in different ways, kind of like how Clue's original theatre release had different areas show different endings.

I also dislike the gas tower puzzle, for reasons I already outlined. Two questions: 1. Did you stop the plane right away or did you let it go long enough to actually go into the gorge (because that will happen) 2. Did you ride the bike out of the exploding plane the first time, or did you try to just run away on foot (this little puzzle always cracks me up because the bike is hidden out of sight of the player until you walk to the side, whereas Ben would clearly be able to see it)

I've started replaying the game on Hero mode. I'm finding it to be more fun than I thought it would be. The increased amount of damage you take adds a level of tension that I've never really had in a Zelda game before. It's making me think a bit more tactically and changing my normal approach to the game. Usually I'd save side quests and stuff for the end but now I'm doing them first because I need the extra hearts and bottles. I'm also probably going to change up the order I do the dungeons to get certain equipment first, like the blue mail and magic meter. Also, I somehow didn't notice it the first time but last night I found Ravio's journal in his house in Lorule. That was kind of a neat surprise for me. -
Nintendo is doing a series of eShop sales. It's 2 games, $2, for 2 days each.

Nintendo is doing a series of 2 Games, 2 Dollars each, 2 Days sales on the eShop. Right now it's Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge for the 3DS and Mega Man X for the Wii U. I'd keep an eye on it if you want some other eShop games on the cheap.

Idle Thumbs 136: No Man's Guy

I was only half listening to the discussion of Reggie and Allard so in my mind they merged to become this amazing entity that became the frontman for both Nintendo and Xbox while getting TCP/IP into Windows. -
If you have an Android device, Double Fine's Dropchord is free from the Amazon App Store today.

I forget where I saw it, but I read somewhere that she said that the Mighty No. 9 team is so small that everyone is asked for some kind of creative input, even the community manager. Obviously this doesn't mean that she's going to be able to radically change the game (or that she even would given the chance) but with this being the internet and all, such things are blown way out of proportion.

Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

Just southwest of the city there's a mountain with natural sort of overhang. It's near an entombed horse and some arches someone started building. I dug a tunnel through the mountain to the desert on the other side and laid down rails and powered rails if anyone wants to use it. When I finished making the tunnel, there were horses to the east of the tunnel exit, but you'll have to ride it back to the city yourself because the tunnel isn't tall enough for a horse and rider. Edit: Make that a lot of horses. -

I was just about to ask what happened to the Minecraft thread when I noticed it got pinned. So thanks whoever did that. -
I made it as far as NG+5 before I stopped (and could easily have gotten to +6). At that point the enemies just start as their most powerful form and the rest have a ton of health. The bosses then become the easiest part because they stayed the same. That was a few updates ago though so it could be different now.

I brought some chickens to town and fenced them in next to the stables. -
You're probably right. I'm just optimistically hoping that for at least some people, their complaint is just about the nepotism and not her gender.
