That sounds pretty great actually. I've never done anything other than the stock MvM maps so it would be awesome to try out some new stuff. If you have the latest version of the game, you'll have everything needed to do the standard MvM stuff. If a server with custom maps (like the one jimtwo has graciously offered) is going to be used, you'll probably have to download the maps first. The game normally does that by itself when you try to join the server, but I've never tried it with MvM. Also, if anyone wants any weapons let me know. I have a lot of spares and what I don't have spares of I can probably craft. I'm not looking for trades or anything, but I would still suggest we at least trade something for something. I'm more than willing to just give stuff away but Valve has frowned upon trading something for nothing in the past because it looks shady. Even a single piece of scrap is fine with me.

Is that the Fury series? I thought about reading that to supplement Dresden, but it seems like it's straight up high fantasy and not a thing I'm interested in.

Would anyone like to try and arrange a time for this weekend? I am in the US (EST) but I'll stay up/get up at odd hours to play a fun game with cool people.

In terms of the character of Harry himself, I can see how it would be hard for him to cultivate a more mature attitude toward women. Look at the women that surround him most of the time. They're sexual predators, in the most literal sense. Vampires (the White Court are all about sex and the Red court relied heavily on it even if it didn't sustain them), fae (who are magically enhanced in ways that put supermodels to shame), and other sorts of magical creatures that are beyond human norms. They play up the stereotypes a lot because it would probably work in real life too. The guy (or girl) who falls for that kind of thing is likely easy pickings for the magical monsters out there. On the other hand, if anyone is going to turn Harry around, it's probably going to be the main woman in his life. Murphy, while also attractive in the human way, is a strong, independent female. In a LOT of ways she's the strongest character around despite being more outclassed than Harry is on average. I think if a change in attitude is going to happen, it's going to come from her, possibly with her literally beating sense into him.

ODST tried something different and was much less bombastically outrageous than the other Halos, probably largely in part because you're not a big bad cyborg killing machine who is going to single-handedly win a war. It's outrageous in other ways because it's still a Halo game, but it's different than the armor clad guns blazing grenade throwing sexy AI voice in your head game that players were used to. And that's not a criticism of the other Halo games, they're fun too. I just appreciate what ODST did more than the other ones.

Skin Game got added to my digital library and I've started reading it. I'm about 12 chapters in. The previous comments about descriptions of women are pretty well demonstrated in those chapters, although to give him some credit, the mantle of the Winter Knight is explicitly being called out as a strong influence within Harry to see women in this manner and act upon his urges.

They like the fact that he's a dumb character.

I think the best chance would be for everyone to friend each other, then try and get a game going when a bunch are online. I've done up to the advanced difficulty with as few as 4 people, but 6 is always better of course. There's really no way to make the match private short of knowing or owning a private server, so if we're less than full it's likely we'll have to deal with a couple randoms that hopefully won't ruin everything. If we really want we can do skype or teamspeak or vent or whatever, but I usually just use steam's built in voice chat.

I would have loved to see that too. Oh well. No use complaining about something it isn't. Seems like we have the makings of an actual team. We should probably attempt to schedule a thing.

That's fine if you like that sort of thing. Personally I hate doing stuff like that. I find tactics and strategy fascinating (although ironically I don't like most "strategy/tactics games") but I hate the one on one stuff. Plus I like having a goal that is more than just kill the other dude.

ODST is my favorite Halo, but strangely it's the only one that I actually prefer to play solo because I feel that the atmosphere of the game is better suited to being alone. Not that it isn't fun in co-op.

I never got into any of the modes that are basically deathmatches. Deathmatch is the least interesting game type to me in any game and TF2 has so many other ones that are more fun. I spent most of my time in TF2 doing either capture point or payload maps until MvM came out at which point all I did was that. We should start trying to organize something, or at the very least start adding each other as friends on Steam if we haven't already. My steam ID is SecretAsianManz

The new Wolfenstein game got me thinking. There are several games that take place in alternate histories, mostly diverging around WWII. Let's say that one of these alternate histories existed and the Third Reich won. Would they have games that are about an alternative history which depicts our reality? What would that game be like? GTA? COD? Wolfenstein except Americans and Europeans instead of Nazis?

I like that his chest gives the impression that he used bubble wrap as a protective device. Also worth noting is that the armor includes metal claws, a laser, razor-sharp Batarangs, and a flame-thrower.

Maybe it's a sign that I'm becoming an old man, but can someone explain to me why Twitter is used as a way to make plans with people in real life? I would assume if you know the person and want to meet up, you probably have their phone number and could text them instead of broadcasting plans to the public. This isn't a criticism of anyone who does this, I just don't really get it. I always get this creepy voyeuristic feeling when people I follow on Twitter make plans, like I could just crash their party because the invite was made in a public space.

My best overall is Soldier but I'm pretty good at everything except Sniper and Spy, at least in MvM. I mainly just try to fill the role the team needs, which usually means I'm forced to be Engy or Scout.

I've played so much MvM that I've basically given up playing the regular mode, however I haven't played much lately because I'm tired of dealing with people who do nothing but complain, troll, or flat out have no idea what to do and don't listen to advice. Nothing wrong with being new or inexperienced, but ignoring the rest of the team in a game with the word TEAM in the name is just being a jerk. That said, I would very much love to get a group together and play. I don't even care if we win, I would just like something that actually resembles a team for once. I also have a ton of spare weapons if anyone needs something. If I don't have it, odds are I can craft it.

Barring some kind of catastrophe at work, tomorrow night should be my last night shift for a while. I am really looking forward to a long weekend to get back on a daylight schedule, but mostly I want to play Transistor.

I get that. I used to frequent a series of servers belonging to a community my friend introduced me to. I even paid to be a premium member for a while. During that time, I couldn't imagine playing on a different server, to the point that if their servers were full I would just quit the game altogether rather than tempt fate in the wild. If we could dig up 4 other people, the MvM co-op mode is fun and almost completely server blind.
