I have no doubt I'll grow to hate it, but for now it's still mostly the fact that these things belong to me and not my parents or someone else.

I just mowed my own lawn with my own mower all of which I paid for myself. First time I've ever done that. Feels pretty good.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Coming soon to Goat Simulator (and I'm not even kidding, it really is) -
Not bothering with spoiler tags since these aren't about Skin Game specifically. The first few books are kinda weak but they give a lot of background info. You still get brief character introductions in each book when a recurring character returns, but it's minimal information. I would say probably skip the first 2 then come back to them later if you're really interested in the backstory.

Exactly. The actual details of the story were largely uninteresting to me, but the way I was given the information gave the world a color and flavor I enjoyed. Transistor is less so unfortunately because a lot of the background is basically reading text.

In general, I like the way Supergiant tells stories, but not necessarily the actual story itself.

Finished it up last night. Apart from some weird chapters I already mentioned, it was pretty good. I still think Changes is my favorite book so far, but this is a good entry to the Dresden Files.

I've been kind of hassling you to not eat fast food, but it's mostly jokingly. Shammack is right, eat whatever you want. I do encourage you to try new things you haven't had before but absolutely do what makes you comfortable.

Not to mock you or anything but your comment reminded me of this

Haha, fantastic.

I'm something of a big hypocrite when I tell you not to go to McDonalds because I actually prefer KFC in China to the KFC in the states. But in my defense, I've been to China a lot and eaten Chinese food almost every day of my life for decades. I think you're fine with going there once, if nothing else just to see what's it's like. But when my friends and I were in Europe, they insisted on going there a lot. And not just in France. We went through several countries in about 10 days (it was part of a school tour thing) and for almost every non-arranged meal they had to hunt down the closest American thing.

Don't be like my friends when we were in Paris and insist on eating at McDonalds. They flew all the way across the ocean just to eat a slightly different version of the thing that's across the street from their house. I don't often try to intentionally try to pass myself off as a non-American, but I did then.

The controller has a Smash logo on it. This implies to me that Nintendo will manufacture new controllers to go along with the peripheral. So rather than redesign the Pro Controller into a new Wavebird, they're making more of a last-last-gen controller. I'm sure people who still have original Gamecube controllers will be happy, but this seems like a poor solution.

That's why Mario is always grabbing loose change, he's been saving up for a luxury kart.

I enjoy that you can likely guess the year it was written solely by how dated the references are.

Idle Thumbs 160: Die Übiverse
SecretAsianMan replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I had 2 thoughts during the discussion of the Google car. That was my first thought. My second was that they should do a remake of The Love Bug except that this time Herbie is a sentient self driving Google car. -
Also POW, BIFF, ZING, etc. every time you hit a goon. Must also include horn sound effect.

We should have our own PAX. With blackjack. And hookers. In fact, forget PAX. I also don't like that website. It is indeed shite. On the bright side, this way I'll stay undefeated in Ticket to Ride.
-
Yeah, I would very much recommend NOT clicking those spoilers until you've gotten to the appropriate chapter. They are super spoilery.

I think I'm skipping PAX this year. I've been to several now and while I still think they're fun, they're also largely the same thing, only the games change. Really the only thing that would get me to want to attend PAX is if Campo Santo got a booth. That and visiting some friends in the Seattle area but I'd rather do that during a less crowded time.

Spoilers for up to Chapter 23

Given our recent discussions, chapter 14 was... interesting. I really hope it goes somewhere otherwise it's just creepy.

So I picked up Transistor over the weekend and put a few hours into it. I like the game a lot, the art is gorgeous, the music is fantastic, and I think the gameplay is interesting, pretty much everything I expected from Supergiant. My brain is telling me these things and I believe all of them, except I don't want to play the game. I previously predicted that I would like Bastion more and so far that is holding true but I still think Transistor is a good game. I just can't get into it. Something is missing for me that I can't put my finger on. Bastion drew me in because even though I thought the gameplay was somewhat weak everything else was so damn charming. I think the same thing about Transistor but it would seem to not be enough this time around. I'm probably still going to finish it but my heart just isn't in it and that makes me kind of sad.
