  1. Well I bought a PS4 specifically for Bloodborne and there was nothing else I cared about for a long while. :P

I am definitely not suggesting that my anecdote is the norm, though, haha. I just love Nintendo games, and know I'll never be disappointed. And I had faith the PS4 would eventually have enough games to justify my purchase. It has had more than enough! I can't keep up. ): And they keep coming. Forever. ):

Hell, I know I'd play plenty of Xbone exclusives, but I actively choose not to buy that one because what's the point, I'm so busy as is!!

Also maybe I'm a weirdo, but five games is more than enough for me for a console, considering I rarely have time to play more than that spread across the various platforms I own.

    Okay I'm definitely a weirdo!

  2. Austin's presence and influence on the Beastcast was strong and has continued to echo for quite a while since his departure. The latest episode where they specifically call out PewDiePie and firmly state that it's wrong and it wasn't funny and etc. was good and true.

But Dan's presence is worrying. It's notable. His influence is one of "I'm a wacky guy because I'm so weird" and I hope they continue to fight that urge and continue to confront issues like PewDiePie and others from here on out.

I stopped listening to the Bombcast a while ago because of Dan.

I'm more excited and hopeful about the Switch than any console I can remember. PC gaming is my main jam, but I've grown to really dislike the antisocial aspect of spending hours alone at a desk in front of a screen. While I love local multiplayer it requires a level of organisation among friends that means it rarely happens, and my workplace has never had the critical mass of handhelds to get lunchtime games going.

This has the potential to fill so many niches: local multi sharing a big screen, or propped on a table, local wifi on separate consoles, online, solo portable, or combinations of these. Every unit always having two controllers attached is huge. If it really takes off it could be the best of both worlds, fully portable unlike the Wii U but also a proper HD console able to run modern games.

The fact that the Switch is already getting such buy-in from a certain movement of indie devs (many of those behind the "couch coop resurgence") is wonderful. Overcooked is one coop game I was really crossing my fingers for, and even ignoring first parties there's so many others: Shovel Knight, Binding of Isaac, TumbleSeed, TowerFall, Enter the Gungeon, Rayman Legends. Some I already own on other platforms, but maybe now they'll actually get played.

The lack of info right before release is a concern, but then this is surprisingly soon after the big January reveal. Really hoping Nintendo don't screw this one up (please no friend codes, and fix the damn eShop).

    SAME.

Switch is basically going to become my default platform for indie games at this point. Stoked as fuck. Gimme that Switch. 4. I mean Skyward Sword is a good game. I stand very firmly in the position that there are no Bad Zelda games. (I haven't played A Link Between Worlds! Or Spirit Tracks!) There are some that are worse than others, sometimes dramatically, but they're still decent games, if not great. Twilight Princess would be the highest on my list of "bad" Zelda games, but I still thoroughly enjoy it.

And yes I'm ignoring the CDi games you BUTT. You know who you are! I see you smirking, there, in the shadows.

But. Skyward Sword still has some very glaring flaws. The hours-long dull-as-heck tutorial, he hand-holding at every turn... That's my bugbear.

  5. No, the point of a wash, as I understand it, is to fill in the cracks and crevices with a darker color.

The wash settles in the recesses to give them a shaded appearance. It's not supposed to dry all blotchy like on the other guy.

Also typically you're supposed to use same-color washes, but I'm just throwing brown on everything to make the zombies look dirty, obviously.

  6. Yeah when I first started I couldn't get stuff from the free chest either. Didn't bother me much though since I wanted to build sorta far away from other stuff. (Good job finding my circle, Sarge! The shadow made by the circle looks really really cool with the shader mod I've got. It slides across the terrain so smoothly. Ahhhh.)

  7. Thanks! I did another one.

Much like the first zombie, this one's "umber wash" came out very splotchy, but it seems worse and more noticeable on the plain white shirt. Oh well.

EDIT: i just now realized i forgot the glowing eyes oops

  8. almost two years after first posting in this thread i've painted my first miniature

only thing i wanna do is paint the base a color to represent that it's a "walker" in zombicide, but i haven't decided on a color scheme yet so i'll get back to it some other time

anyway so now that's that life goal achieved, time to toss it in the garbage

  9. Well, for me, the main issue with mods is not the ease of installing them en masse,  it's the fact that I have to downgrade to get access to the best mods - which means sacrificing the shiniest features from the latest version. It may be a dumb thing to worry about, but it's always been the point at which I give up.

    THAT SAID: client mods.

Last time I tried to do this was like two video cards ago, but I installed Optifine HD and Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders, and my god the game looks completely different! (I also installed my favorite texture pack: Jolicraft. Never could stand the default textures.) Arguably it goes a little too far, but I'm really enjoying it. The shadows are so smooth! The lighting! Oh boy!

I spent a lot of hours trying to finish step two of my project, but was JUST short of enough sand to turn into glass to fill in the holes. ):

Once I finish that, though, I might do some dungeon-diving. That used to be my favorite thing to do in Minecraft, and now enough of it is New since last time I did it, I think I might like it a lot again. Also it's just been a long, long time.

TURNS OUT I'M STILL INTO MINECRAFT.
