  1. anime

Haha I admit School-Live! is entirely a hate-watch at this point. I generally have one of those going on at a time. I also participated in a NeoGAF Let's Watch for Sunday Without God. That was similarly terrible. I anti-recommend both of these anime. If ever you have a desire to watch them, stop, think for a bit, and instead of watching, don't. --- Nodame Cantabile is really great. It maybe goes on a bit longer than it should, and repeats some of its story beats, but overall, I'd recommend it for sure.
  2. We need to talk about race

So are you just here to pull a "gotcha!" on everybody or what.
  3. anime

One episode away from the end of School-Live! I hope they all fucking die.
  4. Playscii by JP Lebreton

    Agreed, that definitely is rad.

If you're looking for more anime-watching suggestions, you can check out our locally crafted microbrew anime podcast, Key Frames! Found elsewhere on these forums, and also here! (uhhh don't watch Dallos though also maybe some other stuff, ymmv)

  8. (Actually you get his camo outfit by sneaking up on him and holding him up, but yeah the difference is striking - and by striking I mean "lol kojima".)
  9. We need to talk about race

Yeah I certainly wouldn't defend Dolazel's dishonesty. I think that's a pile of hot trash. ...Sort of? Like, for example, do we expect all trans people to be completely honest about their physical situation at birth? I certainly don't. I wouldn't force a trans person to divulge all of their history. I mean I understand that she lied about her father, and that's kind of shit, but I don't know? I'm less questioning her specific situation and more questioning the general idea that we all have to be completely honest about our past. I have no intention of changing race or anything, but there's still a lot of stuff in my past I would rather not exist. If someone were discovered to have originally been white or black or some other color, should we then begin to question every aspect of their stated history? Like I said, we don't do that for transgender people, and I don't think we should. And who am I to say "You Are Not THAT!" What if, deep down, they really do feel that way? What if this is them becoming who they've always felt they should be? I'm rambling here so I should probably stop before I put my other foot in my mouth. It's crowded enough in there as is.
  10. We need to talk about race

This is a question I share.
  11. Math Thread of Fancy Counting

This article reads like something from The Onion. What just happened.
  12. $20 seems fine to me. I doubt it's gonna be an hour-long thing. You people are weird.
  13. Best Robinsonade games?

Thinking on it some more, it may be because it looks like how I wish Minecraft looked, visually. Like this is, to me, absolutely gorgeous. I love Minecraft, but I could never get it to look like that, no matter how many shader or performance mods I used. It just runs like crap if I try to do anything fancy with it. \: Granted, that may be a bit of a bullshot. I don't know. Like I said, I haven't played it. D:
  14. Best Robinsonade games?

Wow this does seem neat, also the end of the video with a meteor about to crash into the planet basically sold me on the game.
  15. Best Robinsonade games?

It's still super early and incomplete but this is the one that appeals to me most without having played it. http://oortonline.com/ I honestly couldn't tell you why...
  16. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Without making any judgment on Sarah (my feelings on her are complicated and I can't do them justice... suffice it to say I respect her and I hope things get better for her but I can't have that kind of thing in my life, so I stopped following her on Twitter not long ago): No, you're wrong. She frequently isolates and screencaps various conversations, on Twitter or whatever, among prominent figures who identify as GG members. She's not just talking about social issues and then being attacked because of that (though of course that does happen, too). She actively seeks this stuff out and call it out. She does this to let people know that it's still happening. Whether or not you find that valuable or harmful is up to whoever you are, but it's undeniable that her actions fall pretty handily under the umbrella of "anti-GG" as defined by "people who devote a significant amount of time to calling out GG's bullshit". Unless she's changed since I stopped following her a few months ago? She is, however, one of those people who does this precisely because they're attacked. She's a real victim, unlike those fair-weather Twitter activists that Apple Cider was alluding to, which I think are a real problem.
  17. I backed this and now I finally get to play it yay.
  18. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

The pedophile angle is definitely not new, at least. ):
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

The stuff with Sarah has been happening for a long time. Like almost since the beginning. And she refuses to back down, constantly screen-capping shitty GG things and antagonizing them, which just means they're never going to stop, too, so it's kind of a shitshow. There are also people who disagree with her constant badgering of GG. I don't really have any thoughts on that, but I did stop following her (and a few others) on Twitter a while ago because I couldn't take the constant misery.
  20. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

It's the part where Gamergate is more tedious, so this tedious argument is more attractive.
  21. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)

Two spaces is hot garbage. The only time you do it is to appease some shitty teacher.
  22. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)
