I didn't know when I bought Sam and Max Season One. Did it even have that guarantee? (The guarantee that it would be free.) I don't remember. But I don't care about having a DVD. I get the DVD anyway because they come with neat bonuses, and I enjoy said bonuses. If the DVD did not exist, though, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. (Provided those bonuses were available elsewhere.)

None of the seasons (or series) have had a DVD available from day one. They always become available once the season is complete. Bone might've been an exception, though. I don't remember. X: But Bone was never finished. ):

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179064 I am excited! I love Professor Layton (though I've only played the first one so far) and I love Grickle! Hurray! I am also interested to see what else comes out of this so-called Pilot Program. Ffffffff I love Telltale.

All the bonus levels will be unlocked by the time you finished the story. There are 30 bonus levels total, which actually doesn't amount to as many story levels as there are. But! Since the bonus levels are time trials and recording trials (i.e., use as few copies as possible), I've found I already spend more time on them than I did on each of the story levels.

Dwarf Fortress- Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the rum.
Twig replied to Sombre's topic in Video Gaming
It has enough in common with roguelikes to be classified as "a roguelike with a twist." Plus it has a "pure" roguelike built in as an alternate game! Genres are a stupid thing to argue about anyway. The lines are constantly blurred as more genre blending occurs. Anyway, I love this game. -
I think it's a great game. :3 It's got a whimsical silent-film art style, a whimsical name, a whimsical story, a whimsical premise. It bleeds whimsy. And it's fun to play! Beat it pretty quickly. I'm not normally one to care about game length but I was like "is it over already?!" and lo, it was. The bonus levels will probably double the game length, though, so that's good.

It's actually supposed to look like Australia. It's been done more than once. If I recall correctly he's also FROM Australia, but I'm not entirely sure. The lambda thing is more than likely just a coincidence though. X:

This is the best response.

Roger Ebert rehashes old debate even indie hipsters are tired of

Ebert reviews "Cosmology of Kyoto" Is this the same Ebert? I honestly have no idea. Derek Yu posted it on his Twitter-thing. Just thought I'd drop the link in here since I didn't see it posted in my quick skim. X: -
Finished this yesterday and, fuck yeah, it's awesome. Love Sam and Max. :3 Definitely my favorite Telltale series so far. (Though to be fair it's the only one to have multiple seasons!) Can't wait for the Scoggins thing (hopefully it's a game!!) and here's hoping for a Day of the Tentacle/Maniac Mansion announcement at some point in the future. Or, dare I say it, Space Quest. OOO: (Or, best of all, Team Fortress 2.)

Oh man I just saw the Hidden Person that pops up when you hover over the flashing window. I missed it the first time I saw that page a few days ago. I am excited. :3 I'd love to see a game in the same style as all those Grickle videos. (Though hopefully with more frames for animations!)

I can't say what games are the best of the genres or the best of their time or the best of anything... But I do know that Team Fortress 2 is probably my favorite multiplayer game of all time, and I've played it more than perhaps any other game ever, barring WoW, which really doesn't count. X: Occasionally I take breaks but every time I come back to it, I love it all over again. Been playing every night almost for the past few weeks. God it's so good. Also, Commander Keen is one of my favorite platformers. I prefer Keen 1-3 to the rest, but they're all good. In fact, I might even rank 1-3 above Mario in some regards. :3

I dunno, I've never heard of Half-Minute Hero, let alone played it, but I've had the Japanese version of that flash game in my bookmarks for months! My limited understanding of the language prevented me from being able to finish half the games. D:

Synopsis Quest got translated. http://www.skipmore.com/freegames/synopsis/synopsis.html I think it's pretty fun. O: It's like the WarioWare of JRPGs.

I've hung out with some pretty offensive people in various guilds and whatnot. I can basically guarantee none of them actually care if you're black or gay or female or whatever-the-fuck. In fact, there was often a black dude or a woman or a whatever-the-fuck around laughing along with those people. (I know not if any of them were gay, though!) Not saying it's "okay" - just pointing out that, at least in my experience, there's no real HATE going on. It's just a bunch of people shootin' the shit. It personally doesn't really bother me, but at the same time I don't talk like that, either, so. X:

It's so shiny.

No doubt something akin to this would occur. ):

Dibs on white knight. It's the most fun! Plus I've been to Japan so I know all about honour.

This is why I like RPS. (And Tom Chick.) Sad the Penny Arcade series is cancelled, though. I enjoyed the first game, but never played the second. Some day I intended to get to it. They're both only five bucks now on Steam. Humm.

CD Projekt is pretty wonderful at the craft of hyperbole, and the broken English is good for a laugh or two, as well. Is it weird that I find it more charming than off-putting?
-
Yeah, that'll be the day.

I actually don't mind the character vs. background art dissonance. I don't think it's nearly as bad as some of you are saying. O: But, yeah, I watched the new (I think it's new) English-language trailer, and the animation just does not do the awesome art justice. In old pixelly games like DOTT (which still looks absolutely wonderful) the choppy animation suits the style of the art (or at least is far less noticeable because of the style). But in this game, where everything is so detailed - even if the characters are cartoony - it's just such a jarring thing... I could probably get used to it over time, but the horrendous English voice acting is even worse. D: If I had to guess, they're not using native English speakers. Which is a huge mistake. Whoa I just noticed that YouTube link is 1h22m long. Since when is that possible? D:

But then you also need to have the white knight as well, defending her honour at every opportunity. Otherwise it's not a genuine girl-on-internet situation.
-
I was pretty excited for this at first (at least, insofar as I can be excited about something based on looks alone), but then I saw a video a while back and the animation was so choppy. Really takes away from how amazing it looks in screenshots. And the English voice acting sounds horrendous. D:
