The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite

Leshrac is the best tower pusher in the game, pretty much. Max level Diabolic Edict can take down a tier 1 tower in one go if no enemy creeps are around. And he's an okay creep pusher. AND he's a boss 1v1 hero. AND he's pretty good in teamfights, too. Leshrac is the best hero in the game. YES. Other good pushers are: Broodmother, Lycan, Venomancer, Enigma, Jakiro, Razor (w/Agh's), Luna, Nature's Prophet, Sand King, Death Prophet, Dark Seer. There's more. Many of them are better than others in specific ways. Some, like Sand King, are only good at pushing creeps (although this, of course, naturally pushes towers). Any hero that's good at pushing towers is usually also good at pushing creeps. -

Okay the slope is complete AND IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A BUTT, JERKS. Start building hobbit hobbles in the walls! Also is there a marble-like block? I want a white-ish tower, but I don't want wool. U: -

So what you're saying is we should build a landscape full of penises in preparation? I don't actually know what is on the server besides what's at spawn and my big pit (that is where I spend all my time), so I probably wouldn't be any help. U: -

I've been sort of busy today. The skeleton for the slope is complete. Just need to fill in the walls. X: n0b is a terrible moatsmith. -

Someone already made that joke! -
I recall having similar problems in Dead Space, and installing D3D Overrider and enforcing Triple Buffering fixed it there. No idea if it'll work here. Probably a long shot. U:

So yeah here's what I think. My proposed slope: The tower would be built on that center platform. Maybe a bit wider. But, basically, this gives us a moat, and room to play around with mini-islands and gardens and whatnots. A guideline for the slope's circles (best viewed in a program that includes grid-pixel capability): I don't think it needs to be completely uniform like this, but it might be best to start this way and then carve/build into/onto it. I had also originally thought that maybe we could build the walls higher than the top of the pit, but then people started building stuff around the rim of the pit, so that's not really doable in a good way anymore. EDIT: Hah, I'm so used to viewing these magnified a billion that I forgot to blow them up before uploading them. X: EDIT EDIT: Also tinypic compressed the hell out of them concentric circles. Gross. Well, anyway, since no one's said anything I'm just gonna start building it up...! -

I am literally disgusted at this art. Day of the Tentacle defined my childhood. The first of many, many adventure games. The first game to really actually get me into gaming. This is an insult to my childhood. ): -

Even the one I proposed? (The skinny one.) -
Oh wow I completely forgot about GameDev's salary survey, despite having known it exists. Well, that's an answer! They've already asked me for availability for an on-site interview. Apparently it's going to be a two-hour test on the computer followed by some more relaxed technical questions after that. MORE TESTS. ARGH.

Onnnn what? I'm not sure what other details I could provide that would be relevant. Entry-level. Mobile games. C++ programmer. San Francisco. EDIT: Oh, Master's degree. That's definitely relevant. I've known for a while the typical salary for a new grad game programmer is about $55-60k, but I also know that kind of thing is also subject to the living cost of a given city or whatever and maybe other stuff man I don't know that's why I'm asking. ):

What video game or game series would you like to see become a movie?
Twig replied to bishvabis's topic in Video Gaming
I'm quite sure I have no idea what you're talking about. -
This is as good a place to ask as any: what kind of salary should I expect and/or ask for as an entry-level [mobile] game programmer in San Francisco (a place that is reportedly expensive to live in)? I've never had to negotiate a salary before (since I've never had a real job before!), and I don't want to undercut myself out of ignorance. They might not even ask what I expect, but I figure I should be prepared in case they do. U:

Okay well that's the second technical phone interview with them where I finished half an hour earlier than time allotted (which was one hour) and OH MAN now I'm incredibly optimistic about getting an on-site interview AND THEN AFTER THAT A JOB oh man i am so pleased right now
-
Are they aware that they should avoid talking about it? Seems like an easy enough thing, but then I'm rarely super-passionate about these sorts of things. Probably to my detriment, but hey. TECHNICAL PHONE INTERVIEW NUMBER TWO IN ONE POINT FIVE HOURS. UHHHH. I always get so nervous. ):

I must be the only one here who found the demo unimpressive. X: It was kind of amusing, but I dunno if I'd ever pay for it. Is there anything more to it than WarioWare-style point-and-click adventuring? I just... I dunno. I wish I liked it. I like the IDEA of it and I love the stupidity, but actually playing it left me feeling a bit bleh. ):

I've never played a game that makes me hate making choices as much as this game does. Fucking Christ.

Now that the hole is done dugged, I built what I'm proposing the slope looks like. Someone look at it and see how it looks, height-level-wise. There'll be a moat at the lowest point in the slope, up two or three levels. Could be mini islands in the moat. A pretty garden or something. -
