  1. Worst Kickstarter Ever

Yeah I do like the stories. Some pretty amazing stuff in there.
  2. Homophobic?

edit: that was some unnecessary shit i had here! that just ain't like me GET RID OF IT I SAY Salka I had already apologized for the miscommunication. That was mean, and I'm already leaving the thread. Bye. ):
  3. Worst Kickstarter Ever

(I still enjoy Penny Arcade The Comic, and while The Trenches is interesting, I think it more often falls flat than succeeds.)
  4. Hock and Sock leaves Ubisoft

That just means we won't see anything for decades to come. Isn't Doug Church supposed to be working on something of his own? Or maybe that was just a rumor that never had any grounds to it. Maybe Hocking will join that project. It seems like, given their respective histories, they might be a good match. But who knows. U:
  5. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

    But Cheetos are gross!
  6. I like TF2 Warehouse. I'm hoping something similar will pop up for Dota, hopefully linked to this one, so I can trade in all my shit TF2 items and get neat Dota 2 items!
  7. Homophobic?

Okay. I'm sorry, but bullying is bullying. There are different degrees of bullying, for sure, and different contexts. It's still an emotionally taxing experience, no matter what the reasons. I really wish I was typing what you people are reading. Then I might be able to understand what you're actually arguing with. I never said it's less significant. I said it's different. Emotional hurdles are something you overcome through sheer force of will. You have to dig deep and find the strength to do so, sure. But everyone CAN do it. Not everyone can literally jump a hurdle. At least, not without at least being in good enough shape to do so. EDIT: Sorry if that sounded confrontational. It looks a little so, re-reading it. I am easily frustrated when my words apparently imply things I never meant to imply. That, and I've already been down this road once in the feminism thread and got enough people jumping down my throat there. I think I'll step out of this thread, too. Wokka wokka!
  8. Homophobic?

I think it's ridiculous to imply that people who feel "words is words" lack empathy. I'll never run around shouting slurs, no matter how much I feel it might serve comedic purpose (which is my primary purpose). That doesn't mean I think people should let words hurt them. Words only have power if you let them have power. Unlike physical abuse, this is something YOU have control over. If someone punches you in the face, you can't just ignore it. If someone calls you a WHATEVER, it is in your power to mentally fuck them right off. It's a huge hurdle to jump. I know from experience - despite being the "safe" race and sexuality, I was still a target for a very long time. Nonetheless, it is a jumpable hurdle. If we, as a whole, decided to stop acknowledging the negativity associated with certain words, those words would no longer have power. But, yes, I know it's an impossible dream and will never actually happen. Doesn't mean I can't wish it would.
  9. Worst Kickstarter Ever

I think the point is, if they do it so they can avoid ads altogether, then they can focus their efforts on other things for their fans. Managing advertisements and such takes a lot of time. Simply adding a subscription option doesn't solve that problem.
  10. I've had that! But we won despite him because the other team was really bad.
  11. Worst Kickstarter Ever

I mean... at least it's honest? I'm more amused than I am offended. I don't see anything inherently wrong with it, although maybe they should've just done it on their own website, rather than through Kickstarter. TBH, I'm interested in seeing more of their off-color content. Automata and Lookouts. I really dig that stuff. I kind of wish they'd do a Kickstarter just for that. THEN I'd be willing to chip in.
  12. Me too. ): FUN: Guy picks alchemist as last pick, after we already have a team that can't support another melee carry, let alone the worst one. Other guy, as Omniknight, runs into jungle DESPITE knowing enemy Windrunner picked up a DD and walked into our jungle, feeds first blood. Proceeds to feed for the next twenty five minutes. Alchemist bitches about Omni, despite himself losing his lane. Thanks to the Omni feeding the Windrunner, I (as Void) can't farm for shit. I keep trying to save him. He keeps chasing them? With no health? I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO? This is why I hate playing with pubs. At least when I'm yelling at my friends for feeding, I know it's just because they fucked up, and not because they're legitimately bad/trolling! And even if they're bad, I know they'll let me actually help them get better! Summary: Pick alchemist, complain about losing. DOTA TWO.
  13. Homophobic?

Well, that's racist. Just because I'm white doesn't mean you gotta hate.
  14. Homophobic?

Yes. It was a joke. NOW WHO'S BEING SENSITIVE?!
  15. Homophobic?

That guy is a hero. This probably comes as no surprise to the legions of enemies I made in the feminism thread.
  16. The Secret World

FWIW, I really enjoyed Age of Conan despite its flaws. If my friends had continued playing it, I probably would have, too. I didn't find the new player experience to be subpar. In fact, that was probably the most polished part of the game. It fell apart around level 50 when suddenly there were no quests and you were forced to grind. They've since fixed it, or so I've heard.
  17. The Secret World

Yes. Also, I haven't played this game (and won't, thanks to internet impressions and lack of friends playing it), but I wish MMOs would stop trying to make MMOs so... personal. That sounds weird. Basically, I don't see the point in creating an MMO that encourages the player the treat it like a single-player game. WoW has turned into this (until endgame, at which point it's actually a good game again, even if it's not a good MMO), TOR basically has nothing unique outside of this, and I guess TSW at least strive for it a little bit, too? I could be wrong. Either way, MMOs are not and should not be single-player games. Hnnngh. I'm once again left feeling like EVE is the only MMO for me, but I can't play it because it takes too long to really get into it. That, and the core gameplay mechanics are boring.
  18. You're wrong! I've got a friend who consistently does well as Axe. Doesn't matter who we're playing against. it's entirely true that before the recent buff he was one of the worst heroes. Battle Hunger makes him completely viable early game (one of the best harassers, in fact), and his tankiness plus Berserker's Call makes him completely viable mid game. He's a great jungler, and a decent laner if need be. Late game? He does fall off late game, but build a Blademail and a Heart and he's still entirely effective against hard carries. Sure there are heroes that are better than him in each specific capacity, but Axe is a nice package. It's ridiculous exaggeration to compare him to Alch or Sniper.
  19. The Walking Dead

I love statistics, and I especially love comparing my own to others'. So I appreciate the stats screen, for what it's worth. But also, at the same time, even when I'm heavily immersed in a video game (something The Walking Dead does for me really well), I'm still fully aware it's a video game. So when I see that stats screen pop up at the end of a chapter, it doesn't tear me out of the world or anything. It's kind of just another piece of it?
  20. Axe is not bad. Alchemist and Sniper are. Do not compare them!
  21. That could work, too, as a supplement to the floating highways.
  22. Aha! The base of the tower is complete. I think from the current level we're just gonna build straight up, and then once we've reached the top, we can start making it look pretty with better detail. Additions and subtractions. Basically, the tower is going to be a blank canvas. If you wanna help build anything: 1) The tower is built from smooth stone slabs. Just build straight up from the current level. Dunno what the very top of the tower will look like, yet, but... we'll figure that out. 2) In the back, you can also see a little stone hovel with a grass roof. That's kind of what I pictured, although I can't make it look quite how I want. Feel free to build your own little hovels. Try not to cover too much of the wall with stairs and whatnot, though. I'd like the means of travel to be floating highways leading to and from the tower. Once we run out of room on the walls of the pit, we could build tiny floating islands to house even more hovels! Although at this point, they might be more luxurious than a hovel. Maybe that'd be the rich district. U: 3) At the bottom of the pit, in and around the moat, feel free to build free-form gardens or some such. Plant trees, do whatever. 4) You can't see it, but to the right, at the rim of the pit (directly above the stone outcropping), is going to be the guard headquarters. Because me and n0b agreed it'd be neat to have watchtowers here and there as security, and the watch guard needs to have a headquarters! U:
  23. Axe is a very good hero, these days. He wasn't much good, but they recently buffed him. Battle Hunger is now one of the most annoying harassment skills in the game. I'm no good with him, though. ):
  24. It's not just that you don't need to pick five push heroes. You shouldn't. Always have a backup plan. If you put all your eggs in the pushing basket, they might counter you by turtling until their carries are farmed. Then you're fucked. Just like there're good pushing heroes, there're also good ANTI-pushing heroes. If you've got good pushers and a carry or two, they can farm while you push. Or, if they're a mid-game carry, they can already be farmed and help defend the pushers against the enemy heroes.
