  1. Guild Wars 2

Most of the GAF specific-game communities aren't that bad, to be honest. The TF2 community was the best for years! Then, finally, [the cool] people started quitting the game. ): The key is to not participate on the forums, because people on the forums (assholes) are completely different from people in the games (cool dudes). But they never last longer than a month or two for MMOs, so it's not really worth it. I am growing more tempted to purchase GW2. Bunch of people at my new job are getting it, and its lack of subscription fee makes it more welcoming, even though I'm tiring of the MMO formula... I'd also spend all my time in WvWvW because nothing else matters.
  2. I read Red Mars about... three years ago? Maybe five, at most. So I guess I was 20-22 at the time. I loved it, then, but, like you say, I also love the shit out of space, and dreaming about the future of humanity. And the book is really good at that. I've got a long commute to my new job, so I plan to start reading a lot more. I'll dump Green Mars on my Nook. U:
  3. Red Mars has gotten bad press? WHAT. I love Red Mars. Haven't yet read the sequels, though. I think I started Green a while back, but didn't get far before getting distracted.
  4. LoL does get a lot of undeserved hate, but that doesn't mean its not an unbalanced wreck of a game in many, many ways. Which is unfortunate, because, even though I vastly prefer Dota 2, I still think LoL is a game worth existing.
  5. Well, it's possible (maybe probable?), but you have to also consider that many of the heroes are released completely underpowered. At least they were when I still played/followed.
  6. Dust: An Elysian Tail

I find the furry fetish pretty creepy and weird, but that thing is pretty innocent. Then again, I was raised on Disney movies so I guess I'm part of the problem. U; At any rate, I want to play the shit out of this game, because I love the art. A lot. But I CAN'T. weepingopenly
  7. Post your face!

    Hah! That's kind of amazing.
  8. A Song Of Ice And Fire

    TONS of anime/manga. U:
  9. Since Orv admitted defeat over Steam, let's move on to something more fun!
  10. A Song Of Ice And Fire

    I love both equally.
  11. Hey good one I didn't realize! Why does a new mode or map have to keep the exact same balance? What's so bad about different dudes getting play they normally wouldn't get? And, again, I have to point out, LoL's balance has been and always will be shit, so this argument isn't a valid excuse to never try again. The mode itself is perfectly acceptable.
  12. Except Dominion isn't shit, so that's where you're wrong! These words alone pretty much encapsulate the "I hate change" audience of the genre. You're asking for more of the same. Which is fine, and can be great. But it's still just more of the same.
  13. I loved Dominion, but the balance is completely different. The OP champs in regular mode are usually not OP in Dominion. At least, they weren't when I still played when it had just come out. But I think Dominion fails not because of the balance shift - but because people hate change. LoL was never much of a balanced game to begin with, so it's whatever.
  14. I can't wait for Pudge Wars. D: Also Valve has "leaked" at least one minimap version of an alternate map they're working on. I'ma see if I can find it! EDIT: I CAN'T FIND IT. I know it exists somewhere. Or it was a hoax. Possibly. However, something occurred to me while searching for it... Adding a new (non-novelty) map to Dota 2 is kind of like adding a new court to basketball. I wonder if it's really doable? oh god i just compared dota to sports i have become that which i hate ):
  15. She is not a good initiator, but she is a good take-advantage-of-the-situationer.
  16. Oh god I love people who initiate with VS. I'm serious! BALLS TO THE WALL. Of course they only qualify for ballsy if they actually realize VS is a shit initiator.
  17. Life

I have found and been approved for a swank new pad and will sign the lease tomorrow morning. It is pretty rad and also kind of enormous? I'm excited. Except now I need to furnish that motherfucker. Yes, yes. As a bonus, I snagged a roommate through work. I hope that doesn't backfire. As a double bonus, it's two miles away from an old friend who also just moved to San Francisco (well, way south, but within train range of). That wasn't planned. I just took what was first available. Woohoo!
  18. Team Fortress 2 Co-op! Mann vs. Machine

Well, okay, I guess! Wasn't tryin' to start nothin'. 'Pologies all around.
  19. Team Fortress 2 Co-op! Mann vs. Machine

It's business. It's capitalism. If people are willing to pay, you price it that way. Supply and demand, only in this case it's all demand. It seems more like you have a problem with capitalism in general than virtual hats in particular, which is another argument entirely. And, once again, no one HAS to pay for anything. Almost everything in the game is obtainable without paying for it, and almost everything that's not available for free IS because you can trade for it. You're weird.
  20. Team Fortress 2 Co-op! Mann vs. Machine

Is it really douchey? I don't get it. They never lock actual gameplay behind a paywall. Who cares if a hat costs "too much"? It's purely cosmetic, AND you don't actually have to pay for it if you can trade for it. Your logic is weird. God forbid a developer wants to make money.
  21. Team Fortress 2 Co-op! Mann vs. Machine

I just read through it and yeah it definitely sounds like there's no content locked behind a paywall here. It's just, the ticket unlocks the Tour of Duty, which you can then complete at your leisure map by map. Whether or not you need a ticket for each map in the tour, is what I'm still confused about.
  22. Haha what. Who thinks Huskar is an initiator? Oh man I feel sorry for you.
