You're a very angry person. It worked for me and other people! I feel like you less hate the lack of foreshadowing than you just hate the fact that the story went in that direction. The latter is a fair complaint, as it's subjective. But the foreshadowing IS there and IS real and DOES allow people to come to the correct conclusion, should they choose to think about it. Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean it failed.
-
I don't know how to respond to this. I just gave you a very real example. That's absolutely a fair complaint, and I completely agree. The audio logs made slightly more sense in Bio1 (mostly because the city was already in ruins), but even then it was weird. However, they are there, and when discussing the plot, we can't just ignore the content found within.
-
Yeah, or missed some! I didn't mean to sound so snarky in that post. My bad. I think most of the important ones are pretty in your face, though. That's not the only example, but it's probably one of the strongest? I mean, besides the whole thing, of course! Though you could argue that's a whole separate category of foreshadowing. They're pretty tightly linked.
-
There's a ton of foreshadowing; it's just all done in the voxaphones. I guess if you don't bother to look for those, I can see why you'd be confused.
-
I don't think it is. That's exactly what I got out of the Comstock/Booker story, and I haven't really bothered to think too deeply about the game. (Mostly because the game doesn't invite me (personally) to do so.) Only things I've got are what immediately jumped into my brain while/immediately-after playing the game.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

that got me good goddamn -
I definitely remember that trailer now that I see it, but I have no idea why anyone got excited about it. It's nothing unique, thematically, and is completely cinematic, so supplies no reason to get PUMPED gameplay-wise. I apparently completely blocked it out of my mind, and didn't even remember Last of Us existed when I later watched the 2012 gameplay trailer. Assumed THAT was the big reveal. Herp. I still didn't even know what the fungal zombie nerds looked like until I watched that again. Haven't bothered to look any of it up since reading about it here. MERHRHRHRRR. EDIT: I mean, the game will be great. Of that I have no doubt. Naughty Dog is quality. I don't really CARE, because I absolutely can not play console shooters, no matter how non-shooty they are. It's an exercise in frustration for me, every time. Closest I can get is Ratcher & Clank. REGARDLESS: It'll be a quality game. It's just that it's probably no longer one I'll regret not playing or bother trying to force myself to acclimate. I'M THAT DISAPPOINTED. Also all this shit makes me sound way more emotionally invested in this than I really am. I'm great.

The first trailer definitely did not have any weird fungal zombie bullshit. Not as slow-paced as I remember, killing-wise (not a surprise, memory sucks, etc.), but still slower-paced than most third-person shooters by a long shot. All regular dudes. I admit I didn't go reading anything about it after watching that gameplay trailer, but, well, I didn't feel the need to. I was sold. Now: less so. Still could be rad, but ugh I bet you even end up saving the world or some shit. Maybe the girl has magic powers!!!!!

Yeah! I was so put off by the WOLF GIRL factor that I completely ignored it for the longest time. So far she's not even that annoying. Although a little too "ignorant girl" tropey. Regardless, enjoying it. Huh.

Idle Thumbs 100: King Chromin' For A Day
Twig replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
The skyhook kills are so cartoonish that I can't even begin to feel disgusted by them. Fair enough if it bothers you, but I am just laughing at it when it happens. Literally, if I recall correctly! -
I figured it out after the first one. To be honest, I thought it was blatantly obvious, what with the search light, the transition from yellow to red, and the fact that none of the crazies go crazy until the siren guy sirens. Of course, I've missed my fair share of Things in Video Games that other people found obvious, so it's not like I can blame anyone for it.
-
Why not? Billions of fantasy novels do it every day. Why do video games have to suffer so much more scrutiny? It's a step in the right direction. Let it happen over time (because it will), instead of trying to force it. Or, at least, that's my stance on this whole subject. Probably going to STEP OUT of this now, because I ain't about to get invested in another argument like this. Never ends well.

I'm confused because I started watching Spice and Wolf out of sheer boredom and am liking it. It co-stars a wolf-girl. I just ugh what happened. Someone told me it's sorta like Mushishi sorta and I gave in and well here I am sorta agreeing. Geez.

I was really excited until I learned it was about blind fungus zombies and not about what that original video from E3... last year(?) that got me really hyped made me think the game was about. It was the video with the dude and the girl where he very brutally fought another dude for like a minute instead of a dozen dudes for less than a minute. And now there's blind fungus zombies. |: |: |: I'm exaggerating, but for real: goddamnit.

I "beat" Star Fox 64 3D. In quotes, I guess, because I didn't make the optimal path. I failed some missions. I will not be trying again. I don't like that game. I replaced its cartridge with Rhythm Heaven for DS. I'm not sure I like it as much as the original on GBA (which I imported), but it's still great. Mmm-mmmmm. Oh! I guess it's a good thing I didn't have the space for MH3 on my SD card, then! I will wait for MH4 as my first Monster Hunter experience, and buy something else in the meantime, since there's more than enough to choose from that I haven't even touched. U: Also New Super Mario Bros. 2 is kind of lame. I'm so bored playing it. Which is weird, 'cause I totally enjoyed the first one despite everyone else hating it.

It's better when there's lots of fun tears to work with and, most importantly, a skyline. When it's just a regular arena with nothing interesting about it, it falls completely apart.
-
I did enough of that, but it doesn't change the fact that when you run out of salts you have no choice but to Shoot A Dude. Also: Possession is expensive, bucking bronco/water power is risky (what with having to get close). I'm sorry, but it's not well-designed combat. It's just not. It's okay. Much like the first Bioshock. Actually, I was more forgiving of the first (and I guess second) Bioshock, because I felt like there were more environmental toys to play with. Also I loved the trap darts!

I used everything I could, appropriately exploiting weaknesses, and picking up guns whenever I ran out of ammo (which was all the time, because, well, BULLET SPONGE). None of that matters. When "difficulty" is measured by how much health an enemy has, and not by how smart they act or even by number (I would've preferred greater numbers to higher health, as it's more fun that way), it's a bad difficulty system. It's not fun to shoot a dude fifty times. For a handyman, sure, because fighting those guys is fun. They jump around, they're really mobile, they react to you abusing skylines, etc. For a normal dude with an RPG or a volley gun, I don't want to have to shoot at him for an hour just because he's got a bunch of health. Same goes for the patriots, actually. As far as enemies go, they're not very interesting, mechanically. They serve the purpose of being tanky dudes, which is fine, and they're easy enough to kill once you get rid of all the smaller enemies, but they're not fun. There's not much to discuss... They have a lot of health, and there's no amount of fancy vigor abuse to make them have less health. It's my fault for assuming "hard" would make the game hard, rather than tedious.
-
Oh, she never flipped me a coin at a weird time. I guess if that had happened, I'd have... well, probably just laughed it off. I loved everything about Elizabeth. Man. Well, except for her freakishly large head.
-
But it's awesome why would anyone complain about that I'm confused. I beat it like ten minutes ago. GOOD GAME. Well, gameplay-wise, got stale and repetitive (my mistake for playing it on hard, I guess - bullet sponges are not a good method of difficulty-modification, damnit (also it started out lame, with corridor-calms and corridor-shoots and not enough vigors/skyhooks/tears to make combat interestings - picked up quick enough, I suppose)), but the story was great. I look forward to future stuff. I just hope that after THREE GAMES they decide to learn how to make the gameplay less bullet-spongey and repetitive.

I love Paranatural. It's fantastic. I would absolutely watch it in animated form, too, heh.

I'm going with this is Mewfour, and Mewthree is a really ugly burly beast. Kinda like Cell's forms in Dragonball Z.

I have to be honest. That Star Wars dance thing is so hilariously out of character, it's obvious they were just having fun with it. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. The rest of the game is, I guess, not so great, but man that kind of made ME want to dance and I don't dance. In other words: If you're going to complain about the last LucasArts game being bad, don't post videos of the only part that looks good.

what I read the full RPS interview where he talked about this, and he sounded nowhere near as smug and pompous as you seem to think he is. He mostly just seemed sad.
