  1. I Had A Random Thought...

Random thought: Why is everyone so fucking serious? It's frustrating as fuck.
  2. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

I mean I know what you're saying, but Viper is just awful against a team that's actually regularly rotating for ganks. At best, he'll get one kill before he dies. At worst he gets no kills. At second best he gets one kill AFTER he dies. Yuck. Viper is trash. I'm sorry, but he is. His poison only works against one enemy at a time (not literally, but if you're trying to slow more than one guy at a time, you're going to be slowing YOURSELF down), and, yes, he can easily dominate a single lane. But that's it. Unless he gets the levels/farm needed to be super tanky, he just gets destroyed late game, and against a team that is regularly rotating, as mentioned above, he is never going to get the levels/farm. Combine all that with Viper being largely a single-target, damage-over-time focused hero, as opposed to most fo the stronger carries which tend to burst enemies down much faster AND have much more maneuverability... I also have no idea where you're getting your information from. Most heroes DO have escapes. And most of those escapes are much stronger than Viper's poison.
  3. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

You know who sucks?! VIPER. Now I love playing me some Viper, but he's such a garbage hero. Thematically, boring. Gameplay, simple, potential for a lot of damage, but ZERO escape, so completely useless in high level play. Fuckin' Viper. Valve/Ice frog: fix pls.
  4. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

Haha. I like the idea, but I fear it'd turn out worse than that Feminist Frequency thread. O: I'm not sure how well it'd work. Although I suppose eventually everyone would get so annoyed that we'd all be policing ourselves and each other at every turn just to avoid anything outside the free-for-all thread. Hooo boy. SHOTS FIRED. Actually, I would have agreed with you a couple years ago when I quit League, but I'm convinced Riot has made some great strides in that regard. I still don't think they're better at it than Icefrog/(I wonder if Valve in general has any say in new heroes at this point), though.
  5. Monkey was smallest and fastest, as I recall. But also had the least health. It's been a long time for me, too, but yeah, SUCH a good game.
  6. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

Actually this one's just pretty much "talk about LoL" without the versus. U: Also to be honest literally the only way to avoid it entirely is to ban talking about LoL in these threads, and I don't think anyone wants that, either.
  7. Damn! I think you just said all that needs to be said. WB: Yeah I pretty much completely agree with you, then! Kinda reminds me of when I first got Timesplitters 2 and was infuriated that I couldn't jump. But then I got used to it and it quickly became one of my favorite multiplayer experiences. Damn I love that game.
  8. I don't think it's fair to compare crouching and iron sights. While you may not care about them, for me, they add another layer of immersion when I'm staring down the sights of a rifle. I love that feeling. It's fantastic. I would welcome it in literally any [non-arcadey/non-super-gamey] FPS. Crouching, on the other hand, is something that really only needs to exist for gameplay reasons. It's possible I misunderstood what you were trying to say, though, reading it again. If so, I apologize!
  9. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

Playboy outfit. Classy sexualization. SNORTS. Don't get all huffy with me. It's a boring video! Sorry! Your explanation helps a bit, but I dunno. Doesn't really stand out in the genre as a whole. Seems pretty par for the course. Lots of focus on positioning. Sounds like just about any other highly mobile dude. Maybe it feels different if you play her. I'll never know because why would I pay for a character in a game I don't play anymore, but whatever. EDIT: I watched the video again with this newfound knowledge about how she actually works. Made a bit more sense, but I still don't feel like it stands out all that much within the genre. Also, I never said it wasn't impressive. Just that it wasn't interesting. I know that's a weird thing to say and doesn't really make sense, but hopefully it makes sense! Either way, obviously that's subjective and if you like her, cool!
  10. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

I'm confused. She hits people with a sword and jumps around and has a shield. She's not doing anything special there, besides killing three people. Well, except wearing a bunny outfit. "Hey let's design a character that isn't about tits, since we have enough of those... and then release a skin for her that is about tits! PEOPLE BUY THIS SHIT!" Classy. Tell me what makes that video interesting, because I'm not seeing it.
  11. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

haha what that is totally dumb I just asked a friend, and I guess it was supposed to be a nerf from back when blink didn't have a cooldown. But it's dumb and blink distance should either be reduced to 80% of its maximum to match that or clicking outside the range should do the maximum. Bleh. I'd be fine with either, if that's what they decide they need to do. But yuck. There are also things like Lion's stun which has a shorter target range than the actual distance of the spikes. That's a bit weird, but (I think) acceptable, as you're sacrificing skillshot for targeted shot.
  12. Bristleback is cool, but Timbersaw is baller. Flyin' around the forest like a mad man, AIN'T GIVE NO FUCKS. Bristleback just takes damage. TIMBERSAW IS DAMAGE.
  13. idlethumbs is where everyone hangs out, AFAIK. During prime time, it's usually full of people, although I think many of them (myself included) forget to check it frequently. U:
  14. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

Man my last name is Rust. But I think it was originally pronounced like Roost, so I may add an umlaut. Lord Rüst, at your service.
  15. Dota Today 2: The Lord's Pitch

ugh yes please I mean there are a thousand counter-arguments that are semi-legit, but fuck it, I don't care, I'm tired of getting stuck in a miserable situation, and knowing it won't end for another fifteen minutes because the other team is being several piles of shit.
  16. Waking Mars

I also found that weird and don't really get the ending. I was much more excited at the "bad" ending, and thought it was the good one until I realized I didn't have that achievement, and was confused. Then I was like, oh, the good one's gotta be super awesome!
  17. anime

I agree with pretty much everything you said! Except that I kind of liked how fast he talked. Added to the surreality of it all for me. Granted, I read pretty fast in general, so that probably helped, heh. Man I fucking love Tatami Galaxy. And Masaaki Yuasa. MAN. High five!
  18. The Last of Us

Right?! God they missed the mark with the fuckin' zombies. Damn.
  19. Hahaha, me and my friends watched that video a while ago. Soooo good. EDIT: No wait we watched a full match. God Shrek got so annoying. Amazing!
  20. Woo! Finish, finish! No quitting allowed! Heh.
  21. We coo! Sorry I got so defensive. U:
  22. It doesn't have to be. It just always falls apart because both "sides" start saying shit that ain't true about the other side. Which is where I start getting frustrated, obviously. And I don't get why that has to happen. The only thing I can state with absolute certainty about LoL, not having played it EXTENSIVELY in over a year, is that I find it boring every time I go back. Can't really give a reason why. I just do. Nothing's massively changed about it, as far as I can tell. Actually, maybe that's it? I dunno. Bleh. And that boredom makes me sad, because I used to love the game to death.
  23. I thought that was pretty obviously in jest considering we were talking about taste in character design, but your consistent hatred for my very existence probably clouds your judgment. Please just never talk to me again, thanks. Actually, I have to apologize to you. Your post was fine. I find nothing immediately objectionable (besides your insulting statement regarding TINY!), I guess I let my frustration in general cloud my memory. But I definitely didn't call you an asshole. Jerk. ): If I had to pick one thing, I'd pick the stuff you said about the meta. Laning can be pretty versatile, in terms of which characters go where. Not to mention Icefrog constantly just throws the most batshit of balancing decisions into each patch (see the latest for 6.78!) which can change everything. And he frequently messes with the pick/ban phase ordering. You do tend to see a lot of trilanes in Dota, but then you also tend to see a lot of those trilanes fall apart as the two supports roam mid and/or top for minutes at a time, leaving the guy to solo. Those are the best of games!
