thestalkinghead: Your posts are extremely fucking difficult to read. I didn't really want to make a big deal of this, but I find myself skimming over or skipping them 90% of the time. Please use capitalization and punctuation and don't use run-on sentences. Thank you.

That's not true. They've confirmed several times that they are, in fact, working on it. Gabe even did a semi-interview about HL3 specifically (while referring to it as Ricochet 2) where it was explained that the reason it's taking so long is in part because people at Valve were burnt out on Half-Life and in part because they really didn't know what they wanted to do with it. That was maybe a couple years ago, at this point, though? Also I just found this by Googling for Ricochet 2: http://www.computerandvideo games.com/386232/gabe-newell-is-talking-about-half-life-3-again/ And what appears to be a new interview, in podcast form: http://nerdist.libsyn.com/gabe-newell-valve-the-games One could (and probably should) argue that Half-Life 2 is no longer the perfect game in today's world of game design, and Valve needs to take a step back and realize this, but that's a separate argument. Oh, I found the RPS write-up about the original interview I was thinking of. It only happened last year, in fact! http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/23/gabe-on-ricochet-2-delay-but-he-doesnt-mean-ricochet/

There's a certain number threeeeeeeee in the works at Vaaaalve!!!

Why does he have to be a love interest? Why can't he be any number of different dudes what need saving? Why does he need to be a whiny loser? Why can't he be strong, but not strong enough? Why do you assume that just because someone needs rescuing, it means they're incapable of doing anything for themselves?

I don't. I couldn't give less of a shit about a dude in distress. But I can totally see why it's a problem when it's a damsel (even if I don't think it's always a problem as long as there's more meaning behind it besides "hey here's a lady who's in trouble go save her nerd").

Oh boy have I had that thought before!

I started watching Attack on Titan last night. The impressions already given in this thread line up pretty well with my experience. I'll keep watching, but it's nothing special. Neat concept that is unfortunately bogged down by typical shounen stuff, as is par for the course in anime. In other words: entertaining, but nothing worth writing home about.

Hurray happy things! ... I have another phone interview in 33 minutes. Blehhhh.

Summer Wars was fantastic. That's all I have to say there. I never liked Digimon.

Monster Rancher was the best of those kinds of shows! He says speaking from a memory now over a decade (?) old.
-
Very specifically, it's done out of love of old cartoons like Jonny Quest. Race Bannon even shows up at one point.

I just don't see the point. I have a PC, and these kinds of games are very welcome and numerous on PC. I have literally zero interest in this thing.

No, it's okay, it's just a language barrier thing. He doesn't MEAN to be so MEAN!

Well I just had an on-site interview that went much better because they didn't ask me dumb questions; they asked me interesting, problem-solving questions. Questions I'm better at answering. I fumbled a few things, but I think I was decent enough at talking through my thoguht process that it worked out. Still mobile, but at least their games have gameplay, and also I got an in because one of my friends from my old job moved to this new place a while ago. Hurray!

Haha yeah. At least if I was interviewing with a company I cared about, though, I'd have some motivation. Let's say, Telltale. I've been a fan literally since Bone, and I could talk all day about why I'm interested in working there. Hell, I could even talk about things I'd like to improve (albeit, with a bit of ignorance on whether or not they're actively trying to improve there, 'cause some of it would cost money BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT, the point is I'm interested!). Double Fine. Irrational. Any wild number of smaller indie game studios. Valve, too, but they're insane, so that's not gonna happen for a long time, if ever! But then I get connected to Yet Another Mobile Game Developer and I just cry on the inside, because I'm actively applying to companies I want to work at, and they take so long to get back to me that I have no choice but to interview with these mobile developers that I would otherwise never even look at. And it's not like I even think mobile games are all bullshit. Just the ones that want to interview me.
