  1. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Dragon Roost is possibly my favorite Zelda song out of all the songs. That's a very good version of it. Man. (This is my favorite rendition.)
  2. anime

    And you will!
  3. anime

There's zero filler. Um, is it worth my time... I don't really know? Hah. I enjoyed DBZ a whole hell of a lot when I was a kid. Filler, too. It's definitely a more efficient series now, but it still drags on. There've been a few times where I just go, "Nothing has happened this entire episode. What kind of mess was this before they edited it?" I'm mostly watching it now as a novelty. A lot of my enjoyment now comes from laughing at the absurdity. I'd probably stop if I wasn't watching it with a friend. Also Dragonball is so vastly superior to Dragonball Z or Kai that it's insane to me DBZ went on as long as it did during its original run.
  4. I did like Batman Beyond when I was a smallchildboy. And yeah there are exceptions to my dumb rule above, but overall I just have a distaste for superheroes in comic book form. Oddly enough, don't much mind cartoons or movies.
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

I think I liked Young Frankenstein, and I know I like Blazing Saddles. Those and Space Balls are the only ones I've seen, I thiiiiiink. NOPE. I've seen The Producers (the original, obviously!) and Men in Tights (though only on TV). I think I liked The Producers, and I know I liked Men in Tights when I was younger.

Gor: Well, okay. Yes, it was not my intention. I just had nothing else to say (though now I do - below!). Sorry. ): Dasein: Fair enough. Maybe I'll read it some day and rewatch the movie. That said, I really doubt most people who like the movie have read the book it apparently parodies. There has to be something more to it, right? (I actually don't think Space Balls is all that funny, and I've seen Star Wars. But I also hate Star Wars, so what do I know.)

PREACH IT! I've been watching the entire Dragonball series with a friend because we hate ourselves. We made it through Dragonball Proper. We just got to Goku vs. Freeza in Dragonball Z Kai. I thought Kai was supposed to cut out the filler. The Goku vs Freeza fight is going to literally be ten episodes, STILL. They didn't do a very good job, I think. (That said, it's under 100 episodes now, as opposed to, what, 260-ish? But they drop the Buu saga entirely, so there's that.) We're also going to watch Dragonball GT AND the movies, neither of which I've ever seen. Did I mention we hate ourselves?

I never said I had much to contribute to any conversation about the movie. I have jack shit to contribute to most conversations about most things. 99% of my opinions about entertainment are incredibly superficial, because I don't have the mental capacity to think about things beyond that. It's not that I don't care. It's that, for the most part, nothing resonates with me in any fashion beyond "hey that's cool". I didn't think it was a cardinal sin to express a general opinion, though! I'll keep that in mind for the future and never talk about anything unless I can write an essay about it, too. I would happily read a conversation about the movie among people who know about it, but I have nothing to say about it other than "it's okay". ALSO, I have no idea how you get "I don't care" out of those two statements. On the other hand, I could literally talk about my inability to manifest strong feelings about specific aspects of entertainment for hours. It's probably best that I don't, though, since I doubt anyone cares. Teehee! U:

Yes that's exactly what I said Gormongous I'm glad you are so good at interpreting text. Yeesh. Maybe I was accidentally too... aggressive? in that post, but I don't think anything in there says I don't care. Dasein: I understand the "great detective novel" tropes pretty well, and I tend to like them. I also don't think there's anything wrong with the movie. I thought it was pretty obvious I was talking about my own personal opinion, since I was stating my own personal opinion!!!

I don't know that name, and even if I did, that didn't make it great for me! It was an entertaining movie and that's where it stopped. That's pretty much my definition of mediocre.
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Sorry. It's okay, but I don't see what makes it so fantastic. I mean I definitely enjoyed it. But... he drinks White Russians isn't that greatttt.
  12. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

That is my favorite image of the day. Excellent.
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

I looked at the WIKIPEDIAS and recognized no other movies on that page. Well, except No Country for Old Men, which I am sure I haven't seen. WAIT. Didn't see The Big Lebowski on the list before. Missed it somehow. Well, anyway, that movie's mediocre. But O Brother is great.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

I love that movie. It's also the only Coen Brothers movie I've seen.
  15. Life

Yeah I read up a bit on it since my last post. Definitely gonna avoid this lady. Also now I'm afraid of craigslist. ): I just want a new roommate. Can't be that hard!
  16. I Had A Random Thought...

what the fuck I'll never read it and am generally dismissive of fanfics for obvious reasons, but that's impressive. It's all one guy, right? Even if it's terrible, I have to admire the dedication.
  17. Life

Well, she said specifically her dad would send a cashier's check, and as I understand it, cashier's checks are safer in that regard? But I mean, the issue isn't even the money, yet. It's just that she doesn't seem to understand (or is refusing to acknowledge) that she needs to pass a credit check first for the realtor. That's the bit that makes me question things. Also, I just got ANOTHER hit, and this guy seems a whole lot more reasonable - asking the right questions, etc. Not even talking about money, yet. But then I'd feel bad if this other person was legitimate, and my suspicions are just leaving her without an apartment. I know how hard it is to find an apartment in San Francisco. Shit's impossible. I'm probably making this way harder than it should be.
  18. Life

I mean I was joking. Hotmail is fine. My dad uses hotmail. It just baffles me that anyone still has a hotmail address. Also this second hit is still weird. I sent an email last night clearly explaining that she'd need to send a credit report for the realtor before sending any money, and she sends me another email asking only for my address so that she can send me the rent check. Even though I said "don't send me money until credit report is accepted by realtor". AHHHH. She claims to speak English but I feel like maybe her understanding isn't the best. OR I'M BEING SCAMMED OUT OF... MY ADDRESS?
  19. Life

I got another hit on the ad. It reads sorta spammy, like can I really trust this person is she REALLY from South Korea is she REALLY a student. The email also came back SUPER fast like as soon as I confirmed the room was still available. I mean if I were in her situation I'd probably also have an already-written stock email ready to send people, too. Saves effort. Maybe I'm just too wary of the internet. This is a weird experience.
  20. Plants vs Zombies 2: It's About Time

I've definitely approached F2P games like that in the past, but after a fashion it just becomes obvious that I would enjoy myself more if I wasn't being bombarded by IAP ads constantly and if I wasn't forced to grind out some arbitrary currency to proceed.
  21. Life

I finally put up an ad on craigslist, looking for a new roommate, about two hours ago. I got only one response so far (which is fine), but they supplied a hotmail address. I can't help but be immediately, uh... apprehensive of a person with a hotmail address. Don't judge me. Stop it. I can see you judging me for judging other people. STOP IT. In other news, still no job, getting worried.
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

Smart man! I really should watch House of Cards, but I just picked Stargate back up again because I realized I had Amazon Prime! And I mean really is there any better television than STARGATE I ask you nonseriously.
  23. The Bureau: Xcom declassified

I'm similarly pessimistic in this regard. That original concept sounds great and so much more interesting than what it's become now. I mean, I think that I will still like what it is now, but... bleh. I also vastly preferred the aliens (i.e., the weird obelisks, the polygons, the smoke, etc.) in the original concept to the stuff found in XCOM proper. U:
  24. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

    I like Gone Home.
  25. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

You didn't say it, but the implication was there, whether you meant it or not. He shouldn't need to provide examples. That's not the purpose of the article. Why does a lack of examples invalidate his point? This isn't an encyclopedia article. It's an open letter to the types of people he's writing to. They know who they are. If you aren't one of those people, why does it bother you so much that he isn't calling out specific examples? It shouldn't. If you are one of those people, then you already know it. Your condescending attitude doesn't make me want to continue talking about this with you, though. Please stop.
