I have a technical, live-coding-on-a-collaborative-editing-website phone interview in THREE MINUTES. This is not a random thought. But it is nerve-wracking AS USUAL and I want to die. Someone just linked me this. Seemed appropriate.

I just don't work. You've all been duped!

The Comedy Button (a comedy podcast) has done some, and is now actually selling some on their store. I've liked the free ones they released (Street Fighter and Home Alone 2), but they're much more vulgar and offensive than, say, Rifftrax, so YMMV.
-
So what you're saying is I should never NOT be jumping off buildings. SOLD.
-
Well, you shouldn't be the only one buying wards. That's silly. Those guys are dumb and selfish. Basically, if you're being forced to run all the way across the map to ward standard spots, then you're seriously crippling yourself. On the other hand, if you wanted to ward their jungle very aggressively, that's not a bad thing to "waste" time doing. Really, you only need one rune spot warded. I mean, yes, it's good to have up at least two wards at all times, but during early game, it's not as critical, until you get into really high-level play.

It's not uncommon for some supports to be really low level and have very few items compared to the rest of their team. That said, it's also not that common in low-level matchmaking, just because you typically don't need to roam around as much, since the other team wouldn't be doing it, either. Depending on the lane you were in, you shouldn't really be warding all over the map, unless you're playing a roaming support (i.e., going for lots of ganks). If you're in safe lane, get your farm/XP from stacking/pulling the jungle camp while your carry gets farm in the lane. Otherwise, just make sure the carry doesn't die (by putting up wards and babysitting!). If you're in offlane, you ward to stop the ENEMY from stacking/pulling and you basically just babysit. Trilanes are a whole other thing.

It works exactly how I said it works: no one gets an abandon. The game's auto-end mechanic prevents enough time from passing for anyone to actually get an abandon. Exceptions, I should point out, can occur if you've accidentally accrued over 4 minutes and 30 seconds of AFK/disconnected time throughout the game up to that point. It's a cumulative thing before the abandon occurs. Which isn't necessarily the fairest of things, but I guess it's better than having it reset every time, as that'd be really prone to abuse.
-
Yeah! Although I'm always worried that Valve will eventually prevent people from being able to do that, since they don't want to officially support a surrender option. I'd make sure that the Reconnect option is actually gone after about three minutes. If it isn't, reconnect. You have to be gone for five minutes before it's an abandon, so as long as you reconnect before that and go get some XP or whatever, you'll be able to avoid an abandon.
-
Yeah it's awful. One little trick you can use, since you were doing a five-man, is if they start spawn-camping? Just leave the game. If all five of you leave at once, the game automatically ends after thirty seconds. Leaving the game consists of: 1) Going back to the main menu. 2) Exiting the game. 3) Upon reopening the game DO NOT click Leave Game. You have to wait for the game to automatically end, or you'll get the abandon. It's an extreme measure, but it's one that I've found has drastically increased my willingness to play after getting stomped like that.

I got really excited when I saw an email from Telltale about the position I applied for and then immediately really sad when I realized it was a "not interested".

Hah, yeah, I figured. I'm hoping that Edited Products become a trend. It's like 90% of what we get in video games is the Director's Cut of the Director's Cut. (Not that DC's can't be worthwhile, but the point stands!)

Yeah my first thought was that maybe he was having some serious medical thing. Like WHAT. But then he responded with a really dumb "I don't have to talk to you anymore" thing and DID IT SOME MORE. WHAT. AND THEN PEOPLE ELECTED HIM. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

Farscape was so good. U: I like Carson! My favorite non-core character, though, is Radick. I'm one episode from finishing SG-1. Still have the movies, but damnit. D: It's interesting how incredibly rushed I recognize Ba'al's death as being, this time around (though they could always just fall back on CLONES yet again - and they might even still do that... I forget most of what happens from here on out). When I was watching it as it aired, it didn't stand out so much. I feel like Ba'al was really interesting, but because most of his prime time was around the Ori invasion, he doesn't live up to his potential, I guess.

Yeah, that moment is just... amazing. Oh man, Daniel is great. Teal'c is great. Vala is great. I giggle incessantly at those three so often. I liked Atlantis a lot more the first time around. That said, it's still fun. Inferior to SG-1, but fun. I do really love the Shepard-McKay dynamic, though. The one thing that always disappointed me with Atlantis, though, was the treatment of Ford. I know in the beginning he was Just Another Soldier, but I feel like the whole enzyme thing fell super flat. They could've done so much more with that. One of my favorite non-human characters is Todd. I recently read about some plans they had for Todd in an Atlantis next-season-turned-movie that never happened, where Shepard and Todd were going to do some buddy-buddy things to save Atlantis from blowing up (how many goddamn times does Atlantis almost blow up, good lord). Could've been great! For the most part, though, the Wraith are just kind of uninteresting, nameless evil dudes. Michael isn't bad, either. Universe was a weird thing. Trying to be a super serious Battlestar Galactica style show, but failing in so many ways. Then renewed for one season, immediately cancelled after that second season started, and of course THEN it starts getting really good. I really didn't like the first season, but the second was so good I forgave the first season almost entirely. I wonder if I'll like the first season more when I rewatch it

I haven't played this game, but I think it's hilarious that I can decide whether or not people I've met in real life, or just know from the internet, are allowed into the country.

While nostalgia'ing it up in my Flickr account to find a few photos for the photos thread, I found some photos of ME from Japan. Which was four years ago. I remember feeling like a lazy, unhealthily large piece of butt back then. I saw those photos and thought "what the hell I was so skinny". I need to start working out or something.

Also here's some more. Ruined buildings are like my favorite things. Well it's a sunset okay. And kite surfers! Who are these assholes playing disc golf in the snow! Oh wait that's my friends and me I am dragon, hear me roar! I love me some mossy rocks, yo. While perusing my Flickr I realized just how much I FUCKING LOVED JAPAN. TAKE ME BAAAAACK.
-
I'M SO LAZY AND NEVER TAKE NEW PICTURES OF THINGS WHYYYYYYYY Well here's some old ones that I decided I like a lot, even though most of them aren't that great. It's the MEMORIES. Beaks of metal, man. Japanese crows are terrifying. Why so angry, little dragon? Sandgators! RUN. Those clouds were amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't get any spectacular pictures of them, though this does a good job of showing the scale. Something doesn't look right here... Mmm, long-exposure fireworks. I know everyone does it, but it's so FUN. I forgot to keep all the links to the Flickr pages, so you can't see high res (if you wanted to). I'M SORRY. If you want, I'll go find them again. U:

Her belly button is way too tall. And look at those knees! So sharp beneath those bubbly pants. Wow. Actually I don't really like the straight line either - it was the first thing that jumped out at me, oddly enough - but it's a funny thing to complain about. O:
-
Well, with Reggie, the very standard PR "maybe" is usually a definitive "no", in my pessimistic experience!

Guys, I know Stargate isn't like the pinnacle of television or anything but goddamn if it isn't one of my favorite series ever. It embraces the cheese. It is CHEESE INCARNATE. Also I am slayed every time Teal'c recognizes or makes a movie reference. I am currently watching an episode where SG-1 is mistaken as rebels in a hostage situation on an alien planet in a museum. I have laughed out loud multiple times. I'm so happy right now. Oh god Vala just activated a Goa'uld naquida bomb to intimidate a museum security guard and can't deactivate it. GIBBERISH SCI-FI ALIEN WORDS!!

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Yeah not having a job is wreaking havoc on my sense of Day of Week. Still, better safe than sorry. What if there are SMALL CHILDREN around! It might corrupt them. -

the fuck I'm surprised YouTube allows that to stay up. Also: NSFW geez.
