I understand what you're saying, it's just that I... disagree, I guess. Sure, if fuck wasn't offensive some other word would be. I would then say that other word shouldn't be offensive. Obviously, we don't live in a perfect world, and people are going to find all manner of things offensive, even at their most innocent, but well what're you gonna do. Your post about the silliness of being offended, however, I completely agree with. we're all silly.

I think there's something to that and feel similarly in probably similar situations, BUT I also disagree that the word "fuck" should be considered offensive, context of language aside. I understand and respect that some people are offended by said word, but I also make it a point to filter those people out of my lives, because I'm not going to NOT say that word. My friends are the people I'm most comfortable around, and if I start to feel awkward around someone because they don't like the words I use, then, well, WELL. I make exceptions to that rule when I realize that the word I'm saying could be offensive for rather specific reasons. Example: I once used the word "bitch" around a woman as we were all hanging out at Thanksgiving dinner. I believe I called my friend a bitch because he beat me in Smash Bros. (teehee). I learned later that I'd made her uncomfortable, and although I know for a fact I didn't mean it in any sexist fashion, I also know that it's one of those words that HAS a connotation beyond just being a naughty word... So I try not to use it anymore, just like I stopped using the word "gay" derogatorily back in high school. The word "fuck" doesn't have a similar connotation. It's just offensive because it's offensive. I realize that's probably not exactly what you were trying to say. Just talkin' and whatevs!

Well, DANG, that wasn't really my point. Also, I used to very strongly agree with that sentiment, but the problem with that logic is that "fuck" is a very strong word. It has a very strongly negative connotation. Just because "fudge" or "frick" or whatever might have the same meaning behind it for the speaker doesn't mean it affects people who hear it in the same way. Not that I necessarily want to associate with someone who's offended by fucks, because I'm a frequent fuck-user, but that's also not really the point.

Of late, I've gotten into the habit of saying "dang", rather than "damn". Not out of any desire to stop swearing, mind you. It's just more fun. DANG.

Dang, Game Maker was my first guess but I couldn't find the logo on the website. Oh well. Definitely wasn't AGS! Game Maker is remarkably versatile.

Yeah, there were plans for a movie. I read about them recently. http://www.gateworld.net/news/2013/04/stargate-atlantis-producer-reveals-more-of-unfilmed-movie/ Lots of cheesy Stargate stuff.

It'd be a fun world to explore. Onto other dumb sci-fi! I finished up Stargate: Atlantis last night. Man, I forgot how disappointing and rushed that ending felt. How lame. Then I watched the first episode of Stargate: Universe. Man, I forgot how exciting that first episode was. How sad that I know I didn't like the first season. Maybe I'll like it more this time around. Loved the second season, though, and was sad as shit when it was cancelled just as it was getting good.

Interview over. It felt good. But I've said that before. Also I went there under the impression that it was for a gameplay programming position. It was for a build engineer position! I don't mind - I'd do that, too, though I'm super new to that. The first few minutes were sorta awkward. I want this job, thanks.

Watching Chronicles now. DANG. The movies could not be more different. It's really bizarre and I like it. Some of the Necromonger "tech" is disturbing. DANG.

There's a scene in Pitch Black where he's hiding in the shadows and uses a carved bone to cut off some of the captain's hair and then sniff it. He's a pretty creepy dude, that Riddick. I think the scene in the bathroom is meant to be a callback to that. But it feels worse because Doll (no matter the spelling, she was basically a talking sex doll for the purpose of the movie, so I'm gonna stick with the gross name).

Sounds about like what I've heard elsewhere. I've also heard the game (the first game?) is the best thing in the franchise.

So I'm watching Pitch Black now. I'm liking it for a lot of the reasons I liked Riddick, only it doesn't have Doll. Also basically Riddick was a remake of Pitch Black, even though it was a sequel. It had some other interesting things to it, but also it had Doll. Still no idea about Chronicles, though. I've heard it's nothing like Pitch Black. EDIT: Pitch Black is a lot more along the horror side of things than story-about-a-fucked-up-dude-in-space side of things, though, which is a tad disappointing, because it's not a very good horror movie.

I find wireless to be utterly unreliable. But also I don't bother to buy good routers/wireless cards because ethernet is cheap and easy to wire alone the wall/floor and I live in an apartment so.
