Jungle Run was great. Didn't know they made a new one! Might buy! It's one of the few mobile games I actually like.

I have been experimenting with Unity of late. More specifically, I read that Unity 4.3 is gonna have native 2D support, and that really excited me. So I decided to just jump in now and get used to Unity so that when it does come out, I can start making stuff right away without a huge ramp-up. I've been using RagePixel, a free, super-simple 2D plugin. It's pretty limited, but it's serving me well for one idea I've been wanting to make for a while. It's about explosions! More specifically, chaining explosions. Clicking on a spot will spawn an explosion. I'm thinking a puzzle game where the goal is to clear a level in as few clicks as possible. Anyway, here's what I have so far, after a couple days of dedicated work, both learning Unity and learning RagePixel: http://www.twigbits.com/wp-content/uploads/explosions/2013-11-08/WebBuild.html Obviously it's very early. But hey! (That little dude is left over from when I was trying things out. He has nothing to do with the game. But you can move him around with the arrow keys!)

Yes!

Yeah that kind of thing would be super cool and would take AT MOST a day's worth of work (perhaps spread out over time, while waiting for someone to respond to an email or whatever) per game for a single person. And I feel like that's overestimating it quite a bit.

Speaking of Steam trading market: http://www.ongamers.com/articles/courier-sells-for-38-000-on-dota-2-trades-subreddit/1100-34/'>Dota 2 courier from early days sells for THIRTY-EIGHT GODDAMN THOUSAND DOLLARS Valve also once hired a dedicated economist to study this stuff. He no longer works there, I believe, but I thought that was kind of amazing when I heard about it back then.

Yeah it's a little weird. I've long been of the opinion that if they even halved the cost of their VC games, they'd make more money than they do now. Obviously it's just conjecture, but I know I'd buy a hell of a lot more off the VC just to try it out if it was a lot cheaper, and I know a number of people who agree with me.

I feel like, in terms of Virtual Console, they should just dump everything on there as fast as possible, and then run promotional specials to call attention to things they think can sell better. At least it'd make me happier, 'cause I wouldn't have to wait for shit to come out whenever they deem it should happen. I've also heard from random people that they are planning on eventually tying digital purchases to an account, instead of to hardware. And there's this: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/11/05/nintendo-we-would-like-to-enrich-our-virtual-console-lineup Which, really, doesn't mean a goddamn thing. And this: http://mynintendonews.com/2013/08/28/nintendo-claims-we-havent-solved-the-unified-digital-account-problem-yet/ Which also, really, doesn't mean a goddamn thing. How have you not "solved" it when everyone else has?

I saw Sean hop on Dota 2 last night. First I've seen him do that in a while. IT'S COMING!!! Heh.

I have a friend (well, more like an acquaintance, a former classmate) who works at Retro. I'm jealous. I long ago gave up on my childhood dreams of working for Nintendo (NST rarely does anything, Japanese devs don't hire Americans unless they speak fluent Japanese and EVEN THEN you have to WORK in Japan, etc.), but Retro? I'd still work at Retro in a heartbeat. Speaking of working... STILL NO NEWS from that Dallas company. Had a fantastic interview with a local mobile social casino game developer earlier this week. I was very honest about my lack of interest in casino games, and very honest about my lack of experience in objective-C and they STILL seemed to like me, so that's great! The people seemed super cool. One of the guys I talked to is working on a really neat-sounding Rift project in his freetime, and we talked about Unity for like fifteen minutes after the interview portion finished. They said they're gonna let me know by end of day Monday. Please do.

A game set in an open-world Ankh-Morpork would probably be the best open-world fantasy game of all time.

Your first mistake is assuming we have a say in what our government does.

Deponia's pretty funny. It's also pretty stereotypical. Exactly what you'd expect from a game starring a lazy dumb selfish dude chasing after a pretty woman. A New Beginning and Chains of Satinav are very nice looking games. The former has a very smack-you-in-the-face propaganda sorta message to it and still managed to be enjoyable, and the latter is a typical fantasy sorta story and still managed to be enjoyable. Harvey's New Eyes has the most atrocious art style, but I found myself enjoying the game nonetheless. It's very genuine in its overtly cartoonish-but-still-grotesque violence. I don't know. I binged on all of those games at once when I got the bizarre urge to play through all the adventure games in my Steam account. I'd say they're all pretty much on par in terms of gameplay. Just depends on what you prefer theme-wise (like elmuerte said). The Whispered World, Journey of the Roach, and the two Shakespeare games, though, I have not played.

So, Puzzle Agent?

Yeah it wasn't until the last maybe half hour or so.

I stayed the whole time, but I mostly stayed outside and played Sportsfriends because that game is rad. And I finally got to play JS Joust, FINALLY. That game is rad. Only three people, though. ):

Wow I had no idea how terrible the Wii->Wu VC situation was. -
I just finished watching John Dies at the End followed by Trading Places. Both are great movies. Dang.

I consume at least seven grams of vitamin Z per day.

Yeah that's basically what I was trying to say, but easier to understand.

It wouldn't have the gravity in the first place if there was no atmosphere. That is, pressure of atmosphere to actually push the things outward. The spinning alone isn't what generates the gravity. Also atmosphere probably is not the right word when we're not dealing with spheres but well whatever. At least, that's how I understand it. Could be way wrong!

If only halo was fun!

Goddamnit I love ring colonies. They're so fucking rad!

I see that and laugh.
