  1. GOTY.cx 2013

    Can't like both?
  2. GOTY.cx 2013

Hahaha Steve in that clip where he got the award. Too good.
  3. Starbound

Like what? Honestly, beyond the flavor factor (which is nice, and I love it as much as you), there's not much difference between this game and Terraria. Right now, anyway. I'm confident it will come into its own as more updates come out, but at the moment... what makes it deeper?
  4. anime

WHAT ABOUT CHAMBER?! The very last thing he says in the last episode was so goddamn cheesy but also I totally loved it. (Seriously, Chamber's pretty much the best robot.)
  5. Starbound

I also played a bunch today. So far it is Terraria in space. Not much unique about it. Maybe there's some cooler stuff after you gear up for the higher threat level planets.
  6. Damn right he's the best character of the entire series! DAMN RIGHT.
  7. way to get my hopes up and then IMMEDIATELY CRUSH THEM still holding out for playable tingle Also I like how his post there emphasizes that it's not a new fighter because I'm sure a bunch of people got excited and he has to quell the flames of passion before they overwhelm him.
  8. That doesn't make it any less bullshit. Why should a professional player be disallowed from publicly sharing his enjoyment of a game, let alone one that's not even in the same genre? Especially when they're ostensibly not even WORKING for Riot at that time. This is their own personal free time. I'm not sure I see what one has to do with the other. I don't imagine them lasting long, either, but Bitcoins have proven to be a pretty valuable currency so far, AND one that's consistently rising in value.
  9. Other games in the same genre, I can understand, even if I think it's fucking stupid. But then there's, like, Hearthstone, and World of Tanks, and what the fuck?
  10. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

What I got out of that article when I read it earlier is "what can Nintendo do to not die and/or do they even need to worry about it?", and not much about quality of Mario games or whatever. Almost everything was in the context of sales and Nintendo's future-proofness (or lack thereof), rather than anything subjective. If Nintendo continues down this path of Not Making Money*, they WILL eventually die. On the other hand, if they can pull another Wii, they're probably fine. Ifs are everything, here. *3DS notwithstanding

I don't know if the game has that or not. Most of the time, I kept all enemies in front of me, and when I didn't, well, I was pretty well trained to listen to sound cues. I didn't even remotely register that or a lack of it in the first game. That's the sort of thing I tend to notice, too, if it's actually helping. Although I do remember him turning his head to look at OTHER things in the first game, so maybe he did it for enemies, as well? Anyway, in American Nightmare, I didn't need it. Game was BASICALLY cake.
  12. Recently completed video games

I finished Alan Wake: American Nightmare. This is all sort of rambly because I'm kind of on a high after finishing the game. It's put me in a bizarre state of hyper-happiness. I love it. I'm not sure if it's actually GOOD, to be honest, but also fuck that noise who cares I love it. I may mess around with the arcade mode, just because the combat feels so much better, to the point where I actually think I enjoy it? Unlike the first game? Or Stockholm has found a new home in my head.
  13. Life

Well that's a little different in that actors are actors and supposed to be able to play any part, and I don't imagine a dwarf is that different from a hobbit is that different form an elf, except in looks. Programming, on the other hand. I consider myself a pretty good programmer (certainly better than... some people I know), but if I don't have much experience doing something? Well, I lose out to someone who does. I can't just put on a different mask. I can always learn, but that takes time. HENCE.
  14. I Had A Random Thought...

I'm only just now reading http://www.teamfortress.com/tf01_ring_of_fired/'>the TF2 comic (well, this one, anyway). It's so great. Now I'm reading http://www.teamfortress.com/tf02_unhappy_returns/#f=2'>the second TF2 comic (well, this one, anyway).
  15. The Wolf Among Us

    He's being literal.
  16. anime

I finally watched Attack on Titan, moved onto Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (worst title), and finished with The Eccentric Family. The first is incredibly overrated but still pretty interesting, the second is pretty fun and I love that robot, and the third is my favorite of the bunch and I'd love to see more but I'm also okay with it ending where it ended. Crunchyroll is amazing! Then I started watching Hunter x Hunter 'cause I needed some stupid-ass brainless entertainment. I'll probably drop it soon.
  17. Life

I DID IT AGAIN! I got myself worked up about a call from a company (the company I most want to work for out of all the places I've interviewed at!) and it ended up being a mini-interview for a position I didn't apply for (after already having the on-site interview for the position I did apply for) and also one that I'm probably under-qualified for relative to most people and even though I think it'd be pretty interesting they're still calling other candidates so fuuuuuck iiiiiit. And I have another on-site interview tomorrow with someone else. GRAND!
  18. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

whoa geez calm down sparky there's no need to be so angry
  19. The Wolf Among Us

Oh man yeah that'd be real awkward.
  20. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

steampunk is pretty mainstream at this point

I finished Alan Wake! I almost quit after finishing the first episode because the combat was really bringing it down for me. Then I screamed FUCK IT at the mirror in my bathroom, sat back down at my computer, and continued to play the game. Man it's so close to a perfect game except for the combat. I wish the game had been more about solving puzzles using light. There's some of that, and it's pretty cool when it does do that, but most of the game is just fighting dudes (or running away from dudes, which I'm also okay with except that it can be frustrating if somebody jumps you from a spot you didn't see and oops you're basically stunlocked as they all swarm you oh noooo where'd my health go?!?! (the checkpoint system is pretty forgiving so it didn't bother me too much)). Huh, what. Anyway, good game. The tone and atmosphere is great, and there's nothing better in a game with levels than playing in a level for half an hour, coming out of a building, looking over the edge of a cliff, and seeing where you were half an hour ago. Pretty game. The DLC was also good except for some random annoying platformy bits in a game with shitty jumping mechanics. (I paused on a moving platform once and when I unpaused I just fell straight through the platform to my death. COOL.) I started American Nightmare and it's weirdly totally different in tone. Which I think is sort of the point, but it'll take some time before I'm sure if it's good. At first glance, I think I like it.
  22. Plug your shit

I have to be honest, the biggest turn off for me is that it's mobile. As much as I loved the look of the game (and I do!), I can't get behind a game like that on mobile platforms. It's not that I don't care about mobile games. It's that this specific genre... Nigh uncontrollable... What amazes me is how good the game looks for the type of game it is. I certainly wouldn't be averse to more games of that style (in terms of both aesthetics and gameplay) on PC. 3D platformers aren't exactly the biggest PC genre! Bring it home! (Not that I have money to be spending on this sort of thing, anyway, but, well.) That music is so fun. I love it.
  23. PL4YST4TION 4

Man if you're looking at me to defend this game, stop. I don't get the love either. I'm just saying it exists, for whatever reason, and it's not insignificant in quantity.
  24. General Video Game Deals Thread

    Anodyne is fantastic.
