  1. Strange thing to say from a guy who made this post. It seems like you can identify in one specific case, but not in whatever you deem to be the "flavor of the month" social justice? Weird.
  2. DOTA 2

    Yeah, that too!
  3. DOTA 2

Nah, it's still just one skill and flash, because if you don't have flash, the enemy will, and good luck dealing with that... And none of the other skills are actually interesting.

I can see why you hate video games, then.EDIT: OH GOD WORST I DON'T WANT MY STUPID THING TO BE THE FIRST THING ON THE NEW PAGE WORST i wasn't being serious EDIT EDIT: To actually be serious! Valve is working on a custom map system to allow players to build their own fame modes. They've built the last two game modes using that, and even released some of the Lua code used for those modes. I am a bit wary about how much those custom modes will actually be picked up without matchmaking to support them, but I'm hoping valve will treat the custom modes like they do TF2 stuff. Who knows. Also I'd argue Valve is much more willing to experent than Riot. That's what all of th ESE things are. Experiments! Riot's dominion mode is cool, but that's really the only new type of game mode they've released. 3v3 is still just 5v5 scaled down. I want that, don't get me wring, but just because valves experiments are less permanent doesn't make them any less valid. Eye em oh.

Huh, never heard anyone say that before.

Oh, no, it's not intimidating. I know it's possible. I could totally do everything he's doing, and probably faster (sans art)! (No offense.) But I'm lazy, and so I feel inadequate and ashamed.

It sure is! Just not in the way you like.

Well I just marathoned the last nine episodes of From the New World. It sort of veered off into typical "we've got a mission, LET'S FINISH IT" territory for a decent chunk of the episodes there, but I'm fine with that because goddamn it's a heavy series, and I needed a break. It was nicely capped off. GOOD SERIES. EDIT: I've also decided to drop http://www.crunchyroll.com/nagi-no-asukara-nagi-asu-a-lull-in-the-sea after only one episode. It just wasn't very compelling. And, to be honest, I never would've even watched it without a recommendation if not for the promo image to the right there. I like that underwater city quite a bit. But it just kind of seems like it's going to be a sort of typical anime young kids love triangle yawnfest sorta series instead of something interesting about people who live underwater interacting with people who live above water.

I think he's just the fall guy, and he's willingly taking the fall either for his own benefit or for 2K's benefit or for the benefit of all the people who are getting laid off (maybe he feels like it makes it better for those people if the decision comes from him, and not some corporate overlord, I don't know). Whatever the case: the fall guy. And 2K is rewarding him by continuing to fund his development, but on a much smaller scale? I dunno, it's definitely weird. I could be way off base. Maybe Ken Levine really does just hate people. He's always come off as pretty legit, and I think he's also been one of those people who actively says "it's not just me making the game, it's everyone"? I could also be confusing him with someone else, and that would sort of run contrary to the story about the Columbia shanty town. I dunno, it's definitely weird. I'm sort of conflicted. I'm looking forward to what they do next with a smaller scope, because I really think that's what's best for Ken Levine's weird ideas, but I also don't know if what's happened here is OKAY and also I feel bad for everyone who got laid off. I got laid off of a job that I didn't really like and felt terrible. I can't imagine how it feels if you actually love your job. Which, well, I guess I'm just assuming they all loved their jobs. Hey!

God, me too. It makes me feel so inadequate. Hah.

Serious business doesn't mean I can't make light of the situation!
  16. anime

Porn, huh? I can definitely see where they would've taken it in that direction. I'm glad they didn't in the anime. It works pretty well as it is.

To make a 2D sprite in Unity, drag an image file from your file browser of choice into the scene or project tab. To make an animated sprite is a bit more involved. Make a sprite sheet! Look it up if you don't know what that is. U: Once you have dragged the sprite sheet image into your project tab, you can select it and modify it from there. In the Inspector tab, there are a bunch of properties. Most probably are unimportant for now (and some are only relevant in Unity Pro, like the packing tag, I think). Select the Sprite Mode drop-down menu and change it to Multiple. Then click the new Sprite Editor button that appears. I think that's a good starting point. U: Oh, once you've selected all the frames in your Sprite Editor, go to the project tab, expand the sprite, and it'll show all those frames. Select all of them and drag them as a group into the scene. That'll automatically create an animation using those frames. There's... a LOT more to how animation works, and to be honest I'm still a beginner in how Unity does all that stuff, but that should get you started, I hope? Read up on Mecanim for more fun stuff to do with animations! Also, if you're doing pixel art, change the Filter Mode to Point. Otherwise you'll get some super blurry images everywhere. Note that all of this is for 2D mode in Unity. If you wanted to make a 2D sprite in 3D mode, you'd basically be making a quad, like clyde was thinking.

    Yeah absolutely do that!

Fuck I was actually reading it as Fedora before you pointed out that it's not. Fuck. Can I go back to my world where that is his name? HOW DO I DO THIS.

I refuse to watch Sword Art Online. I almost refused to watch Log Horizon. I'm glad I didn't. I'm now 15 episodes into From the New World. Hey this shit is pretty good, yo. Someone mentioned the colors earlier in this thread as really standing out. Or, rather, almost the opposite. I agree. I love it. Man. Also this anime is sort of unnerving. It disturbs me frequently. I love it.
  25. No no no, I'm not saying I'm against it! osmo also seemed to like the idea (although his justification was entirely questionable, as fun-kicking can be done just as easily through a bot as it can without). I just am kind of surprised. But if enough people agree with you, I dunno. also i'm sorta lazy and don't know how to set up bots and i'm sorta lazy so someone else would have to do it
