  1. I Had A Random Thought...

I hate eating* because I'm tall and unless I slouch down, I'm gonna spill all kinds of food on the way up to my mouth. Also I hate not having something to rest my arms on. My shoulders get sort of sore after a while because I'm so tall I can't rest my arms on my legs. Which is weird because I don't have that problem when I'm standing. It's something specific to sitting. Maybe I just suck at sitting. And eating. *I mean I love eating, and that's why I'm fat. But I hate the position I have to sit in while eating.
  2. Hipsters

I disagree with the idea that identifying as a hipster (or any other thing, really) is equivalent to declaring yourself a part of that group. This is outside the context of the current conversation, though, as I'm unsure if clyde (or anyone else, poor clyde is just the center of attention here) wants to be identified as part of a group or not! I also disagree with the idea that being "counter-culture" and also being part of a group that identifies as "counter-culture" is hypocritical in any sense.
  3. Life

Yesterday's run kind of flew by. Done before I knew it. I do watch Netflix (currently that's when I watch X-Files) while running, but days one and two seemed to drag despite the distraction. Day three was pew pew done. And I felt pretty good at the end. It almost feels like the C25K program is going too slow, but I guess we'll see how I feel once week two begins. It's only nine weeks total, anyway, so even if it is going too slow, it's not going THAT slow. Once I reach the nine weeks and finish, I want to start running every day instead of every other-ish day. Does anyone have an opinion on barefoot running? Or, at least with those weird toed shoes that are gross to look at oh man. I've been running barefoot on the treadmill (surprisingly not a problem after the third day, although I had a lot of pain on the bottom of my feet after the first day), and I just realized as I was thinking about running outside on Monday that I don't have running shoes. I don't think I'd ever do it pure barefoot because I don't want to step on a rock or anything worse than a rock, but I'm wondering if it's at all worth considering buying those weird gross shoes that are toed. Maybe I should start an exercise thread, at this point. But I don't want to start a habit of starting threads so I probably won't.
  4. anime

MEKAKUCITY ACTORS continues to be more than sufficiently Shaft if that's your thing. It kind of is my thing, so I'm loving it.
  5. Hipsters

If I'm completely honest, I find your posts to be the most ridiculous of them all. You're being so incredibly dismissive of clyde's personal identity just because there are some things you dislike in life.
  6. I started Z-A while my friend was doing A-Z but we both stopped at some point. I don't remember why. I also don't remember how deep we got.
  7. Hipsters

I don't really consider myself a hipster and no one would ever call me a hipster (except my old boss because I would constantly evangelize indie video games to people we worked with), but I find this thread pretty annoying to read because of all the anti-hipster attitude. It's kind of gross. I had no idea there was such animosity toward hipsters. I thought it was just more of a widespread safe fun-poking*, but it seems like some people just actively fucking detest everything about hipsters. *I guess part of the reason for that is because I have a few friends who I WOULD describe as hipsters, and not at all in a pejorative sense. They are my friends and they're awesome.
  8. Hipsters

Why shouldn't he? What's wrong with judging things, regardless of their source?
  9. Beyond Good and Evil 2

I almost wish he would quit, even if it meant sacrificing the IPs he's known for, but maybe he's not the type who wants to start his own small indie studio like every other big name these days.
  10. Hipsters

I know, and I was responding according to that knowledge! I had a bunch of other things typed here before I realized they'd all just be misconstrued to imply things I didn't mean, and I couldn't think of how to say them without doing that, so I'll just leave it at this curt, worthless pair of statements: I completely understand what you're saying. I just don't empathize with your position. U:
  11. Hipsters

So every word, then! I really hate the idea that a word can become "overused". If a word has meaning for someone, and that meaning is important to them (as it clearly is to clyde), then why do other people get to decide that the word is overused and therefore worthless? Also since my post in the episode thread was the last post on the page and immediately usurped by some dumb hipster: I also since remembered that "some thread" was the feminism thread, when we discussed the merits of reclaiming a word. So, I guess that's a thing, I dunno.
  12. If clyde self-identifies as a hipster (which, if I'm not misunderstanding things, he does), who are you, RubixsQube, to say "don't do that"? Maybe that's not what you intended, but that's basically how I read your post. This came up pretty recently on these forums in some thread, but... I grew up being called a nerd. People meant it as an insult. It's one of the few words that never bothered me. I am a nerd, and I'm perfectly okay with that. Hell, I even take a little bit of pride in that. It might be an insult for some, but for me it's a matter of identity. Why can't "hipster" be the same way? I call my friends nerds all the time, and I definitely don't mean it pejoratively. It's almost a term of friendship-endearment for me!
  13. Beyond Good and Evil 2

It's no big deal. I think I would've ended up buying it regardless, since it's the only way I can play it. Anyway, it's playable at this point (after all the hacks), just not ideal.
  14. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

The same way that not changing them upsets the internet! Oh, internet!
  15. But that's why I like the word. It's so meaningless! Don't take away my fun. ):
  16. Beyond Good and Evil 2

Yeah, I think that's the key. Those games were not planned to succeed the way they succeeded. I remember Ubisoft originally saying a PC port of Origins would never happen because the game sold like shit. And this was after like a few months? Ahhh, I don't remember, my details are probably wrong, but the spirit of what I'm saying remains. EDIT: I've decided that BG&E on PC simply doesn't work with a controller. I've accepted that. I want analog controls, but they don't exist, and not having them is completely throwing me off. Shame, because that's the only issue I have with how it's all mapped to my controller. I adjusted the camera to move at optimal speeds, etc. Oh well. Damnit Ubisoft just release the HD version on Steam, okay? Okay.
  17. Beyond Good and Evil 2

I wouldn't have any huge issue with the camera if it were just difficult to control, but it also is sorta nauseating without it swings around at unexpected speeds. I dunno. It's unpleasant. Ubisoft is a very frustrating powerhouse. They have so many, SO MANY great games, but they don't seem to treat them well. Or treat the people who love them well. It's like they make the game good and then throw in a couple gross things to piss people off (usually Uplay, these days) and then stop there. The future no longer matters. "Day one sales, and WE OUT," they scream from the roof of their office building.
  18. General Video Game Deals Thread

Holy shit I just watched the video for Freddie Fish and The Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds and all of that is basically exactly as I remembered it. I must've played that game in particular dozens of times when I was a kid. I love it. Putt Putt Goes to the Moon was also a favorite, but I've always been more of a deep sea kinda guy.
  19. I'm not sure if that makes you more or less of a hipster.
  20. Beyond Good and Evil 2

Because BG&E was never a big seller and because Ubisoft cares significantly less about PC than consoles. If I had to guess. I'd be curious to know how well the HD release sold compared to the original, though. So this game is still good, right. Except that the camera is completely awful. Whether I'm using mouse and keyboard or mapping the mouse movements to a controller analog stick, it's complete shit. Reminds me how far we've come. Damn.
  21. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

God thanks for reminding me that I've been wanting to play Ratchet & Clank again for a super long time without the means to do so. GOD. THANKS.
  22. Yeah, the morality/"okay-ness" of it is a separate discussion that I personally have no interest in pursuing.
  23. Everyone has their own definition of fun.
  24. But you're not wasting your own time. You're having a laugh. One thing that people seem to completely misunderstand about things like this is that the goal is not to progress in the game. The goal is to have fun.
