  1. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

What the fuck are you even talking about? People on these forums criticize Nintendo all the time. Having problems with something does not prevent you from enjoying other aspects of that thing. You're insane.
  2. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

Geeze you just hate thinking Nintendo is not wrong. No, even worse, you can't even fathom the tiniest POSSIBILITY that Nintendo might not be a complete and total failure in every possible way. It's incredible. Let's just throw out an example to counter your insanity: Etrian Odyssey is one of the best franchises to come out of the past few generations, and it owes a considerable amount of its greatness to the fact that it utilizes the second screen of the DS family so well.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

A thought just occurred to me, so I will share it. The worst part about Once Upon a Time, and a lot of trashy television shows, is that they'd be so much fun if not for a select few MAIN CHARACTERS that are just so irritating beyond belief. Heroes suffered the same thing. I would've tolerated the dumb story if I didn't have to deal with the cheerleader in every episode. This stupid kid in Once Upon a Time hurts his show in the exact same way. So disappointing. I'm not asking for Game of Thrones or The Wire or Farscape. I'd be happy with Warehouse 13! But the CHARACTERS, man! The characters.
  4. Transistor

I preordered because Bastion was awesome and the game sounds awesome. I don't need anything more.
  5. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

Well hey if it's a trend maybe I'll stop reading my posts, too!
  6. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

I honestly think you didn't read my post.
  7. anime

Yeah I do quite like Nike, I can't lie.
  8. anime

The original FMA anime diverged from the manga's storyline when it caught up to and surpassed the manga. I don't remember the exact point at which the stories begin to differ, but a quick Google suggests it's around the time Greed shows up. Brotherhood, on the other hand, follows the manga's storyline. It also sorta rushes everything that the original had already done up until that divergence. Brotherhood is, IMO, better, but not significantly so, and also probably not actually worth watching unless you really loved FMA. They then later went back and made ANOTHER sequel movie to the original series (i.e., a sequel to Conqueror of Shamballa) which is fucking weird but hey whatever. Some day I'm going to watch that.
  9. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

Okay I figured out what it is I really want Nintendo to do with infinite money and no worries about failure. Basically what Winnipeg... Fats (THIS NAME!) just said, but taken to the extreme. I want Nintendo to strongarm every single developer and platform holder into making their content open to every single platform, so that I have the perfect choice of where and when I want to play my games. I want the "hardware" from now until the end of time to just be the controllers. Maybe specific additional pieces, like the Occulus Rift, too. But no more exclusivity to this or that console. I want complete opennness. Okay so really I just want all games ever to be available on PC, but ideally there would still be "Playstation" living-room PCs, such that if that's what someone wants to use, they can. But they can also plug in a Wii remote. Or a flight stick. Or a 360 controller. OH MAN wouldn't that be rad yes it would shut up.
  10. anime

I'm still watching The World Is Still Beautiful, and it's fine. I hate the boy-and-woman thing, though. It's weird. The age gap is too big. Why is this something Japan seems to love so much? It's such a common trope in anime. Though usually no more than a jokey characteristic of a character, not the core romantic relationship. Mmmh. Though I suppose it could also just be that they're only a few years apart but Japan loves to draw young teenage girls that looks like they're adults.
  11. General Video Game Deals Thread

That may be one of my favorite internet posts I've ever read.
  12. DOTA 2

Also I forgot to say I'm in once it starts.
  13. DOTA 2

Guys I'm fairly certain it's just not available yet.
  14. Oh sure. There's also things like event runners never paying out their prize pool. It's not great.
  15. I don't really care what the reasons for the conversation were. I don't mind trash talk among teams and players, but the kind of thing we're seeing right here is gross and just perpetuates the gamer culture bullshit. There's no defending it. Getting rid of THAT kind of stuff is probably what people are talking about most when they want the scene to be more professional. At least, it is for me.
  16. Yeah I've had a really hard time (read: impossible) convincing certain friends of mine that describing Saints Row 3 as "a game about dildos" is a gross misrepresentation of what makes it great. I hate marketing.
  17. It should be a big deal, because otherwise people don't learn. Stuff like this is weird, too. Like, I go not issue with someone saying this in private or in an unofficial personal capacity, that's fine, whatever, but does it really need to be a part of the professional scene? Arteezy's never been a prime example of a stand-up human being, either.
  18. The Ultimate Playthrough, Metal Gears!?

I've wanted to do this for a while but Konami refuses to release the games on PC so I'm LOCKED OUT. ):
  19. Being professional doesn't mean you have to stop having fun. No one's asking for robots to commentate the game. And your defense of using nicknames is flawed. We use nicknames because that's what people know? ...People would know real names if that's what we used by default. I'm not sure I have a huge issue with nicknames, personally, but some of them are pretty fucking stupid, like Fucking Mad, which was called out on this episode. Dendi's a good nickname. SingSing's a good nickname (it's even based on his real name!). Eternal Envy is pretty dumb. iceiceice is a bad nickname because aren't there like ten ice's in the pro scene? Icefrog isn't a great nickname, either. Also... It's easy to forget something when no one makes a big deal of it. It's definitely happened more than once in the past year or so.
  20. DOTA 2

Not sure if fake, tbh. Probably is???
  21. DOTA 2

It's not so much that people are mad at Valve for making money as it is that the core conceit of this setup is that people are paying to increase the prize pool of the competition. After the initial buy-in of the compendium, Valve is doing nothing to earn the 75% cut (minus taxes, etc.). Which, obviously, isn't strictly true, because the stretch goals come with cool new rads and whatnot, but surely you can understand... It's not a difficult concept.
  22. DOTA 2

They're not charging for the mode. They're charging for rushing the mode. I agree with your other criticisms, but also I'm getting so much cool shit that almost... who cares? Sad the custom effects will go away fro dagon, etc. after TI4 ends, though. That's lame. The only thing that bothers me is how big a cut Valve is taking off of Extra Money Spent. But I don't know what the logistics of tax money vs all that crap is, so I'll just leave it at that.
  23. Idle Workouts

My friend was talking to me about that last night. Not the risks, just thinking about doing Crossfit. I've more than got my plate full just trying to not give up on running, for now. I've finished week four of C25K, and it was by far the hardest. Next week I've got to run five minutes at a time THREE TIMES for each day. That sounds hard. U: Also I'll be leaving town in the middle of the week, so I'll have to run in a new environment, probably outside, for a week and a half after that. Which is fine, as long as I actually do it.
  24. I like Ayesee. He DOES have a super great voice. I'm definitely in support of him being on future episodes! He brings a nice different angled perspective compared to Sean and Brad who are, self-admittedly, not experts at the game. Thumbs up!
  25. No, it's not wrong that you're skeptical. Ideally, it'd be a relatively simple change. That said, it might be something that's very deeply entangled in the code for some reason or another. It shouldn't be, like, just in terms of pure code design, that's bad, but it's entirely possible. But also this is a pretty acceptable statement otherwise, so whatever. Here's hoping for a sequel.
