  1. Assassin's Creed: Mohawk

Yeah there's a reason people cite Connor as the worst asscreed protagonist to date, I guess. And also yeah! I found it way harder to get out of the red once the guards identified me. Damn near impossible, even. I usually just ended up killing them (and by them I mean the original group of five plus the other ten that always ran from around the corner). It was one of the worst things about the game, actually. Besides the way everything felt extremely forced together.
  2. Assassin's Creed: Mohawk

Hahaha that scene I laughed out loud I was like what in the fuck? It... it probably gets worse. Maybe more subtle in its badness though. Maybe.
  3. I'll keep that in mind, thanks!
  4. Assassin's Creed: Mohawk

Haha, he is not a great character. He's pretty fucking selfish.
  5. Haha yeah. In my head it was just "well I guess that's how it's gotta be for now". Worst.
  6. I reset my CMOS and now my CPU is running at 40 degrees Celsius idle and the 3DMark test results were SIGNIFICANTLY better and now I want to go back in time and smack myself on the head so that I can play the past few months of games with a CPU that's not slowly killing itself.
  7. Feminism

Yeah that is definitely true and I don't disagree!
  8. I actually am not currently on my desktop because I cleaned out my fan and reapplied the thermal paste. Turns out my CPU was running at 100 degrees Celsius IDLE. I'd forgotten all about checking the temperature until right after I made my last post. When I did I was fucking baffled. Fan had some dust but I think the real problem is SOMEHOW I DON'T KNOW WHO DID IT WHAT IDIOT DID THIS but SOMEHOW the fan was not actually seated properly and the heat sink was not touching the CPU. Yes. Yes that happened. I don't know how my CPU isn't dead. It's been a long time since I last dug around in my computer. Anyway, then I fucked up my BIOS without actually thinking about what I was doing so now I'm researching how to reset it because I have no display. I was trying to change my default display monitor and... set it to something that just doesn't display anything. X: I know I can either remove the battery or plug in the jumper to CLR_CMOS, but I want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. I think I did it once before (and maybe even asked about it in this thread at the time), but I don't remember how, so, you know.

I fall on the same side as Gor, here. It's fine to be disappointed. I am, too. But I don't really think it's something people should be getting up in arms about. Well, that's a bit strong. It's not something I personally can find any reason to get up in arms about. I'm also sort of a little just a bit uncomfortable with the idea that they should pass up on hiring someone they think is better suited for the job just to get more diversity. They should hire whoever's best for the position, not just whoever fits some arbitrary social responsibility they are supposed to have. Except that PASSING UP ON CARA ELLISON IS THE MOST HORRIBLE OF SINS. Let's all crucify Giantbomb! Who's with me?
  10. Oh man a Nick episode! And Danielle! At the same time! I think it's a good idea to keep it at four people max. Seems like a good number to not have everything get too crazy.
  11. I ran the gamut of 3DMark benchmarks and I guess everything's as it should be? http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/3440356 I'm not really sure how to parse this information. It all says "Valid Results", so I can only assume there's nothing wrong, according to 3DMark, anyway. The graphics performance tests ran okay for the most part, except for a few issues during really intense scenes, which is expected since that's the point of benchmarking is to push it to the limit. But during every single physics performance test, my FPS tanked. All of them were sub-30, one of them averaged at sub-10. Which suggests that the CPU is the problem. Which, sure, I already knew that was going to be my bottleneck eventually, but it shouldn't be a huge problem with Dark Souls 2! Or Dota 2! This is distressing. Do I really need to accept that my computer is just not good enough? ): O woe is me. I'm going to run CPU-Z and play a bit of DS2 right now to see if its the CPU ever drops below what it should for some reason. Hopefully that'll tell me something.

Depressurizer also helps makes it easier to back up your categories (I've lost mine a couple times, both before I found this program, so I feel your pain). I mean you could just find the folder and back it up yourself, but with this you can just click a button.

It makes it immensely easier to get the job done, yes. You can categorize more than one game at a time. That alone is a fucking godsend compared to Steam's atrocious method.
  14. Okay I didn't know there was a free version. I will try it out and report back. Thanks!

I've actually got a pretty fuckin' strict categorization system going on for my hundreds-large Steam library. It's disgusting. I have categories for each genre for games I haven't beaten yet. Then I have categories for betas (early access and the like), prototypes (basically the Amnesia Fortnight stuff), multiplayer, high score chase arcadey stuff i'm likely to randomly pick up every now and then. Then I have two categories for games I'm done with: beaten and FUCK THOSE SHITTY FUCKING GAMES. As time goes on I'm more and more willing to toss games in that last category. The first game to go there was Gish, a long time ago. The second one was Bad Rats - even though I Hate Beat that game. That's right, I fucking despised that game so much I fucking destroyed it. I got all of the achievements out of SPITE. I have a problem. SHUT UP. FUCK BAD RATS. I also have categories for non-games (movies/apps), and weird beta for games I already own (dota 2, l4d2), and mac versions of games I own that have their own separate entry for some reason. Oh and a category for games I beat but I'm waiting for updates for DLC or new episodes or whatever. I used Steam Depressurizer to do all this one day when I was super bored. https://code.google.com/p/depressurizer/ I wish Steam would let me browse my library by the user created tags from the store. Would be great to just go "show me all local co-op games", for example.
  16. I don't think the problem is exclusive to Dark Souls 2. I suspect I've been having the problem for a while, but attributed it to various issues with the games, rather than my hardware. Obviously DS1 has a ton of issues, but I think it still should've run better on average than it did. AC3 has port-optimization issues, but I think it still should've run better than it did. Most importantly, maybe, is that I've been having an abundance of framerate issues with Dota 2. At first, I just figured it was a byproduct of Valve constantly updating the game - a similar thing happened to Team Fortress 2 from time to time, before eventually being fixed and then broken again and then fixed again, just because it was updated so frequently. And now DS2. But... at some point I figure it can't just be the games. If I'm ALWAYS having trouble, then something's wrong. And lowering graphics settings doesn't usually help all that much (though it does help some, of course). I'll make sure to keep watch over the temperature next time I play it (not sure when that'll be though! I was super stoked to finally buy it, but now that I have it I'm kind of hesitant to jump into another 40 hour game, hah). I'm interested in the benchmarking thing, though. It might be good to actually diagnose the problem directly, instead of testing it with random games. I just don't know where to start. I know Futuremark makes benchmarking software and it's even on Steam - 3DMark, it's called - but it costs money! Is there a free alternative?

One Life Left? It's an actual radio show in the UK, I believe, with two dudes and a lady on every episode. At least last I listened. I stopped listening a while ago because I didn't find it all that great. Not enough time for any real insightful discussion with the radio show format. http://www.onelifeleft.com/ I haven't listened for at least a couple years so maybe it's gotten better. 1up.com used to have a number of such podcasts before Ziff Davis died.

Well up until "Cara Ellison applied at GB", I had no problem with these events. Cara Ellison is fucking awesome how dare you turn down her application. ):<
  19. First three are already done, but I don't really know how to go about benchmarking things. Never done it before.
  20. That's weird but also I don't really care about that. I want to fix my computer, not DS2 in particular. ):
  21. That's a black lady wearing a dark green jacket.
  22. anime

Mushishi's getting a second season though! At least I think I read that somewhere. Coming fall I believe? Ping Pong isn't on Crunchyroll so I haven't watched it yet.

Yeah you basically suck as a human being. Be ashamed! I don't know if there is anything special about it. It's just a game where you dig and get money which you turn around to help you dig and get money. It's also really short which helps considerably in making it not drag on.
  24. Feminism

Yeah it kind of feels like a lot of these "controversial" issues will disappear as the grumpy old white dudes in charge start dying off and get replaced by our generation. Or maybe that's just what I want to believe.
  25. Feminism

Yeah that sounds possible, maybe even probable. I just know he self-identifies, or identified, as a conservative. Haven't talked politics with him in a long time. At any rate, I wasn't trying to say he was the norm, by any means!
